I'm taking all the highest level courses and I'm not doing so well (B's and C's) and I never have any time to build up a film portfolio and practice shooting short films. @alidi13 Little. Depends on your grades, though, and what school you're applying to. I know some transfers who came in with 4.0 GPAs who got scholarships.

I went to NYU in 2007-2009, I had to transfer because tuition is such a burden. I went to Fordham to finish my bachelor degree. Its kind of ironic, that I hated Fordham and now that im here I love it!

Well viarockgirl, it is very difficult to get in. I talked to the admissions office and they said that only 250 were accepted for the film program this year. I was quite shocked when I was accepted because Tisch is that selective. My portfolio consisted of a 10 minute film, a resume of my work and anything film-related that I have been involved in, and a 4 page dramatic essay about something important that occurred in my life.

Hello - I got pretty good grades overall -- NYU looks at grades, bu they also look a lot at your extra-curricular activities and how innovative those things are.

I think that they focus A LOT from extracurricular activties because I had the rank and the gpa but I have zero extracurricular and I feel thats what got to me and plus my personal statement was lame. now that I think about it, i didn't even try. it's exactly what you want it to be. i go to NYU, and i'm not a very social person, but i see any and every kind of social activity going on, pretty much all the time.

new york has it all. if you can afford it, NYU will be a great experience and whatever you make of it. good luck!

You should have high ones, but SAT scores aren't the only things that matter. I know two people who both had extracurricular activities and good grades. And the funny thing is that the one with the lower GPA and SAT scores got accepted, and the one with the higher GPA and SAT scores got rejected. So you can never know what they're looking for. It's pretty bizarre.
