See the thing is... most people don't want to spend months trying different operating systems out, that's why they go to you for advice on which one is best for them. This video doesn't really address their queries.
Answer: MAC if you're an artist, a musician or a film maker. PC if you're a gamer or if you need to use CAD software. Linux if you have a genuine interest in computers, want to be part of an open source movement, want to be able to tweak your system and want stuff for free.
@filippo330 Look around for other things on the Ubuntu Software Centre, there will be a free or paid equivalent of all the apps you listed, except for steam, but Steam slows down your computer, so I don't get why anybody would use it.
I work under Microsoft but I still think Linux is superior to Windows. Can't replace Windows 7 if you are a gamer but other than that Linux is IMBA. Mac OS just doesn't count hahaha.
Yes, being unable to change your wallpaper, run more than 3 applications at the same time and setting your resolution beyond a certain point in Windows 7 Starter is all GREAT features. Seriously though, the average Linux user can use Windows better than most people, hence the issue they have with it because they DO know it better than most. Through Linux interfaces, they also have a basic knowledge of the likes of MacOs. It's not just about the OS, it's also the person that runs it.

@ramonite in my opinion, those who dont like linux either A- arent experienced computer users who therefore don't understand the appeal... or (like me) B- can see that appeal, but use adobe graphics software for work and consider ALL other software of this type to be inferior to adobe's.
@SMiLFiReCHaoS I use windows for gaming mac for editting pictures and video's and a old pc with linux to do my work on, just because this are the things the different os versions are the best for.
@TheIcantfindusername lol your 14 and you use linux and think you are cool and better then everyone else because you use a os that not a lot of people know about.
@903harman actually, no. i dont think im better than everyone else, i was commenting on SMiLFiReCHaoS comment. he said that ages 14-18 are people who generally use mac yet the majority of my friends whom are all 15 now use linux
This is how I view operating systems. They all suck, none of them will ever satisfy the needs/desires of all users. Personally I use OS X as a base OS because I think it is cleaner looking than Windows but more importantly because by using OS X i can easily emulate Windows with Boot Camp or my favorite Parallels, which easily gives me access to both worlds.
windows > linux > mac os x. ok first off, most of the best software is written for windows. without software any os would be shit. then linux because it is open source. and mac is really shitty, i have had my mac freeze/crash on me more then enough times. i have found out that it is because i am using an external HDD, for my media, because i use my mac for a media center. well if i cant even use an external hard drive without the thing freezing then WTF. this is a known problem with the mac OS.
Found it hard to navigate at first otherwise I love it.
Windows.. I still prefer but I think it's because i'm just getting use to OSX. There's silly things like being hard to uninstall Apps, but there are Apps to recollect that.
I just wish Paintshop pro 9 could be ran on it easily.
@IntelgratedShiznit Wow. Talk about light weight. Alright, I might try it out. But it depends on if it works with my wireless card. Also, I'll need to be able to do some media editing. So if those are both there, I'll more than likely keep it. Thanks!
@Iamthelaw1526 Lol. windows has never fully fixed any problem in my opinion, and with every new OS, they added on as much problems as they did fixes. Seems like when vista came out, all you heard about was bugs. Before Vista was fully fixed, they released 7, which seemed to have just as much bugs as the first version of Vista. Windows needs to get their act together.
@IntelgratedShiznit Nice talking with you. I use Ubuntu and avoid windows as much as possible. Thanks for telling me that Linux Mint takes a lot of memory. Now I know not to try it. Lol. Besides, it's just ubuntu with a different interface and a lack of certain features. Still, Ubuntu for me has ran the fastest on any machine I've tried it on (except an iMac, mac side ran faster, but that might be from using the live CD to test it). Anyway, nice talk.
@IntelgratedShiznit At least we can agree on that. I still love Linux more than Windows. The most versions you need on an OS is desktop and netbook. One for screens bigger than 11 inches and one with screens smaller than 11 inches. So Windows having 6 versions, none means for small screens sucks. Thing is, I don't like windows or the way it's makers do things. Can we agree on that?
@IntelgratedShiznit Idle. sure. Try doing something. Then tell me how much ram is used. Besides, Home basic versions are stripped aren't they? I don't consider it full windows unless it's Ultimate version. Why? Because if you get an OS, you should get everything it has to offer and not have to choose between 2 or more versions. (I'll admit, I don't like Ubuntu having different distros like Lubuntu or Xubumtu for that reason.)
@IntelgratedShiznit You cannot be serious. . . vista on 300mb? It has been recommended that you never get vista with less than 4GB. Sorry, but your argument just doesn't make sense.
Moving on: Ubuntu in my experience isn't a resource hog. It works just fine on half a gigabyte, boots fast, launches applications rather quickly, and was able to run quite a few programs without installing it. Meanwhile Vista on occasion still takes many minutes just to log in? How can you even compare the two? Vista was horrible in resources. Ubuntu runs so much more smoothly. But that's just my experience.
@IntelgratedShiznit the problem with Windows is the WAY they do things. They bulk up the OS, practically requiring high specs or no specs at all. They also have a system with the most corruptible files (DLL and Registry for example). Their core (NT) is highly manipulatable, as where Unix and Linux and others are pretty stable. Windows is barely starting to realize what works, but they still haven't stopped making resource hog systems designed to take your money.
It is stupid. Their are things I don't like about windows ,but Iv seen some windows fans that act just like these Linux Fans. Like I said before, I pretty much like all os Systems. It's not windows fault that Hackers make viruses for windows. If Linux ever becomes number one then they will be a big market share in making Linux Virus. If that ever happened do you think open source could successfully fight the new trend by keeping up with viruses coders for free? I doubt that.
unless your game is programmed to take advantage of multiple cores, forget it. You need Ghz and RAM, not more cores. Isn't this common sense? Macintosh engineered Grand Central Dispatch so that programs didn't need that programing. The Mac would do it.
One thing I don't get, in some videos you say they're all "good" but in others you say the exact opposite by saying all operating systems suck. explain.
@TheMadmentv Can linux also execute .exe files? It's a serious question, as im pretty new to Linux. And I'd love to use .exes in it. I mean a way apart from wine : )
@ProManUnitedFan I do agree with dog shit>Windows, but Linux, Solaris, and FreeBSD still have a ways to go to catch up to Macintosh. Linux is my primary, and it's what I run on my own computer, BUT, I still prefer macintosh and how well it works and how well the software is designed.
@ProManUnitedFan eh, fine with me. To be honest, even though linux and others have a ways to go with innovations, they do have things of their own. It's really hard to tell which one I like most out of all non-Mac/non-Windows Operating systems. But I do agree that dog shit > Windows. You nailed that one.
@ProMan[...] - I can understand how one would complain about Windows. I mean, it was only designed to work on millions of different hardware configurations. Mac OS X doesn't even attempt to do this though I have seen a few working demonstrations on the PC with a lot more crippled attempts at an installation. Unix has been used by various commercial and government organizations for a few decades... some without interruption. Odd that Linux gets the highest rating... sure, I can see what you mean.
@filippo333 A windows fanboy I presume? How about you actually use Linux because it's blatantly obvious you have not... Tell me what is shit about Linux kid? Linux is free, opensource, fast, uses little resources and is a great alternative to the mainstream os's. I'm a big fan of windows don't get me wrong, been using it since 3.11 but I hate people like you who, just because they have a certain os. Feel that it's supreme to others. Enjoy spending your money on expensive software. 500 for office
@kookieless Oh retarded because I don't like the shitty Linux support or kissing Steve Job's ass; I want my PC to work and I want to be productive whilst entertaining. Windows is the only OS which does this properly...
@kookieless Many software developers do not support Linux, for example I frequently use Steam, Microsoft Office, 3D Studio Max, Adobe Photoshop and the list goes on... What is the point even using Linux If I can't use the software I need or even the software a want?
@filippo333 OpenOffice, Blender3D, the GIMP. Those are good alternatives(I use Blender and OpenOffice on my Windows rig too, and replaced GIMP with Paint.NET for now, I want to learn to use it.)
I don't have an alternative to Steam, then again I dont really need one. But there is WineX and you can just play free games like FlightGear, Teeworlds and Vendetta Online.
You talk like Donald duck. You look a bit like him too, but the most annoying thing about you is that you know naff all, and what's worse is you seem to be proud of it. That's just weird.
in general there's no such thing as a 'best OS". Chris said it himself "All OSes Suck' but that's a bit harsh.. All have their pros and cons. it just comes down to what works best for you and what you feel comfortable using. be it Windows, Mac, or Linux. no reason to be haters.
I used windows since I was a kid, I always scoffed at the Mac. But then I won a Mac Pro in a contest, and damn was I impressed. This is far and away the best computer I have ever owned. I have had it over a year and never once, honestly, had to restart the thing because of any kind of error. Windows is decent, but Mac OSX runs rings around it in reliability!
@Tununias no your wrong linux fanboy fuck you defending your own os get a life i told you not to reply prepare to be infected with my spamming and pro trolling for the next 24 hours good luck also Block me i win read the wall of tolarence on my channel
@SupremeYoshifan get a life? wall of tolerance? spamming threat? gee to me it sounds like its YOU that needs to get a life. Linux to me is the best. Everyone has their own opinions, I have been a windows user for 4 years and i love it, but i switched to linux and its great. No viruses, No crashes, 100% customizable, and choose if you just want to use it or install it. I love linux, thats me, but if you "troll" me, im not gonna be pissed. Im just gonna be amazed of how much of a low life you are.
@MrBlijfiguurpaul windows linux sucks bad idea for gaming using wine can cause slower performance and can make ubuntu more vunerable to death windows is the ideal for gaming and work mac is too but has different capabilities iWork is great and Microsoft office is the best DO NOT REPLY ANYONE!!!
@alteccomputers Depends on how much VRAM your graphics card uses. That limit is for addressable memory under 32bit (thus how much of your system and video ram it can actually make use of). If you've got 1GB of video ram in a GeForce card and 4GB of system ram mounted then, xp won't see anymore than 3GB of the system ram. 3.74GB if the card is only 256MB ect, ect. This will apply to 32-bit Vista/7 as well. To twist it even weirder there is a 64bit version of XP that supports 128GB of ram max.
@lcrazy8l I use Windows XP x64 for the last 5 years now and never bothered to upgrade to Vista. It has it s quarks like the 32 bit version but it is at least stable and less prone to viruses.
@Tununias nope linus torvalds will fail in the market in 22 aka 2022 while other os besides mac Cause of there amazing technolgies such as the ipad will not fail and probalbly be as big as Microsoft when that time comes linus is a big fat jerk he only said that cause hes jealous of what MS achived
Linux all the way! It is just the best. Okay to be honest i think that OSX is the best. My girlfriends Mac just works all the time, easy to use and everything. But ubuntu linux is not far away. It is still nearly as stable as OSX it just needs more programs. I have a Win 7 on my PC also, and it just fails all the time. It is slow, jerky and "the program is not responding" is a message i get every time i use it. No exceptions! Ubuntu is much more stable, and easier to use i will say. oh and free!
Every system suck what ever company will put at market will be suck They put on rules most people most follow The best stuff will be went you come out with your on OS Will be much happy because you did MAC Suck Win for PC suck Linux suck let see what google will do OS Whole world is suck No body is happy in computer world why you ask witch one system operating is the best so stupid most people with be say different stuff soon 2012-2014 will get 128 bit win later 256 bits & 512 bits win OS!!!
I don't really see how Linux is "the way of the future" not saying it's terrible though.
But I honestly don't understand how any people can use it for their primary operating system, I have it just to play with sometimes but it's Windows 7 for me all the way. =P
@nextstep333 I do love me some Android (HTC Hero, Android 2.1), but I cannot see it being viable as a computer operating system (for me) at this point. I love my phone, but I'll stick with my W7. =]
98se is amazing for how old it is, i use it on 4 computers in my house and it supports Flash Drives, a LAN, dvd drive, and more and u can watch videos on wmp classic or 9 (:
Which Is the best It depends for Me the worst was Windows 95 always crashing had to replace It 3 times & It was slow then I got Windows 98 better but the floppy boot disk was damaged Windows 2000 was good for Me but became obsolete & was a virus magnet Window XP was better but still got viruses for Me Linux Isadora GNome on line only 32 bit works with Hulu & Windows XP off line. I heard Windows 7 Is good but expensive & has to be registered to one Computer & If You up grade have to buy new OS.
I used to be a Hard Core XP fan. hated previous windows and I REALLY hate Vista. Now Win 7 has my eye and I been using it for a year now with no glitches. To me its the easiest and cleanest of all the windows versions out there because of how easy networking is with it. But I love Debian 5 Linux. If I had to use Linux, for stability I use Debian 5. Packed with all kinds of free goodies. MAC OSX is great for sound and graphics creation. But, what I use as my standard ? Win7
there all good!

@ProManUnitedFan Linux is shit and so is Lion, Windows 7 ftw!
filippo333 6 months ago
@filippo333 A windows fanboy I presume? How about you actually use Linux because it's blatantly obvious you have not... Tell me what is shit about Linux kid? Linux is free, opensource, fast, uses little resources and is a great alternative to the mainstream os's. I'm a big fan of windows don't get me wrong, been using it since 3.11 but I hate people like you who, just because they have a certain os. Feel that it's supreme to others. Enjoy spending your money on expensive software. 500 for office

@filippo333 your retarded
kookieless 5 months ago
@kookieless Oh retarded because I don't like the shitty Linux support or kissing Steve Job's ass; I want my PC to work and I want to be productive whilst entertaining. Windows is the only OS which does this properly...
filippo333 5 months ago
@filippo333 how is linux support shitty btw u also got solaris and BSD
kookieless 5 months ago
@kookieless Many software developers do not support Linux, for example I frequently use Steam, Microsoft Office, 3D Studio Max, Adobe Photoshop and the list goes on... What is the point even using Linux If I can't use the software I need or even the software a want?
filippo333 5 months ago
@filippo333 well many better things for free than paying for microsoft office on all OSes
kookieless 5 months ago
@filippo333 so you dont know wine right?
styledcapo 2 months ago
@filippo333 OpenOffice, Blender3D, the GIMP. Those are good alternatives(I use Blender and OpenOffice on my Windows rig too, and replaced GIMP with Paint.NET for now, I want to learn to use it.)
I don't have an alternative to Steam, then again I dont really need one. But there is WineX and you can just play free games like FlightGear, Teeworlds and Vendetta Online.
JustineBieberxoxo 2 months ago
@JustineBieberxoxo GIMP does rock. Libre Office is much better than OpenOffice imho, and I have not used Blender3D so may check that out. nice.

in general there's no such thing as a 'best OS".

Im just gonna be amazed of how much of a low life you are.

windows 7 if u have more that 3gbs of ram
xp sucks MAX 3.5gb of ram :(
alteccomputers 1 year ago
@alteccomputers Depends on how much VRAM your graphics card uses. That limit is for addressable memory under 32bit (thus how much of your system and video ram it can actually make use of). If you've got 1GB of video ram in a GeForce card and 4GB of system ram mounted then, xp won't see anymore than 3GB of the system ram. 3.74GB if the card is only 256MB ect, ect. This will apply to 32-bit Vista/7 as well. To twist it even weirder there is a 64bit version of XP that supports 128GB of ram max.
lcrazy8l 1 year ago
@lcrazy8l I use Windows XP x64 for the last 5 years now and never bothered to upgrade to Vista. It has it s quarks like the 32 bit version but it is at least stable and less prone to viruses.

If he is such a computer wiz, then why does he say they are all the same? They all have their differences:
-Mac is easy to use, never gets viruses, and is nice for making videos and such. However, it is also the most expensive of all operating systems.
-Windows is great for the compatibility with everything you can buy today but gets annoying with the viruses and terrible fragmentation over time.
-Linux is free, has the most capability, and has the widest variety of visual effects.
hopperms 1 year ago
I don't really see how Linux is "the way of the future" not saying it's terrible though.
But I honestly don't understand how any people can use it for their primary operating system, I have it just to play with sometimes but it's Windows 7 for me all the way. =P

Win7
