  • Bjj, you train full speed with your partner, people of any age can do it, and since all fights end on the ground it's applicable in all situations where there isn't a one hit knockout

  • What is better BJJ or Wing Chun?

  • careful crossing your legs from back mount... someone could break your ankle from there...

  • nice vid. i like your progressive attitude towards wing chun.

  • y u no practice mma...you could spar and fell at least some combat...making only drills will prepare you for shit when it comes to the streets...trust me where i live..e always have to defend ourselves..that wc shit...doesnt work..........at all....

  • Don't cross your legs on backmount like this dude (footlock)

  • Wassup my brother keep up the good work. 1SG(Ret) Mustafaa (ABN)

  • holy crap that is amazing Jujitsu and Wing Chun a deadly combination i train in MMA but im amazed

  • Defender soco assim é facil, más em luta real o soco entra e então já era

  • I fear the man the does 1 kick 1000 time...i do NOT fear the man that does 1000 kicks 1 time

  • never cross your feet when you take the back

  • Sifu makes it look so easy

  • Running away from every attack. No sense of self centerline/balance. Chasing hands. No fwd intent. No structure. Nothing about this is WC except maybe a few techniques

  • @jpsandberg you can still chase hands or intercept even when stepping backwards. . . bruce lee does that

  • why is the red shirt stepping into every punch?

    this is just ridiculous

  • .. could u no see. from this block his forward momentum was allowed to continue since he was trying to punch him and the circle moment of wingchun and the speed and punch techniques allowed for a direct punch

  • There's more on structural and functional misapplications of Wing Chun. His elbows are way out of his own central line, his guard is always low, when moving backward he leaves his forward leg with too much weight for chi gerk apllications. No doubt, altough the Fak Sao is flashy, the rest of the techniques are very poor.

  • i wonder why this sifu steps back to initiate every technique... we are trained to go forward and only take a step back when there is no space left to strike or free your hands up. however, this is a decent demonstration.

  • he is a bjj guy 99% maybe 100%. he just borrowed some wing chun moves not even a concept.

wing chun concepts are deep & meaningful. i did not see anything in here.

if ur using wing chun concepts u wouldnt be stepping back at all. no need at this point. u can step back only when you have to.. intercept or pressure him.

plus we use vertical punch on the main with d block. hooks, upper cuts, back fists, elbows too etc when situation arise.. again it did not happen here.

    brilliant bjj

  • I think his demonstration was great. Nowadays ppl are learning that one two jab. Ive seen wing chun vs like sanshou and other stuff, the problem with wing chun was that the guy who practiced it wasnt really able to Protect himself or block that 1-2 punch. In order to defend against that was wat he just showed in the video. The *shanshou* guy could throw a jab, which wing chun can block, but really cnt block that hook in time. I also came up of wat that sifu just taught b4 watching this video.

  • understood, but stepping back adds about 3 extra steps to this technique. don't step back- explode through the opponent. extra steps will make you unstable, vulnerable and unable to really grasp the efficiency of Wing Chun Kung Fu.

  • Stepping back isnt a bad thing. I practice many martial arts and learned many styles and tech. My fav is WIng Chun for my hands as its base. Another fav is southern Shaloin that i do. My fighting consist of everything in gung fu no limiting or crystallizing myself with one style. Stepping back doesnt make u unstable and vunerable. Try fighting a guy that does mma and see how it goes. U gotta understand limiting yourself to just certain concepts and moves makes urself unstable and vulnerable.

  • If u fight a guy that specializes in grappling u gotta learn how to face against his grappling skills. If the grappler guy charges towards u, u gotta move back and prevent him frm taking u dwn. I understand the exploding through part but u cnt just say if he throws a punch, u block and do ur chain punches, he's gonna come and throw punches back. U explode wen its the opportunity and kno wen to step back wen its gone. Then follow the same steps. Try to grasp the understanding of Bruce Lee.

  • anybody who studies wing chun to a high level will have to deal with people from all styles coming into the school. they must always be prepared to deal with conflict, etc... backing up, is generally not good to train. yes, MMA guys can wrestle for many minutes before a round is over- but kung fu is meant to dispatch multiple opponents. watch Bruce Lee take on multiple people- he usually strikes to intercept their strike, and he moves forward into it to drive them back.

    PEACE!

  • you want to let your opponent pass on the few initial movements, then go in for the attack.

  • @superhumansight you can still intercept and attack while stepping back even bruce lee does that. . .

  • @j0ery yes you CAN do pak dar while backing up- but he does it every time in this video. he KNOWS a move is coming, and he can't step into it for optimal power? the basic drill is done standing still. its like shooting a fadeaway jumper every time you shoot, even if there is no blocker. the fadeaway shot has much less power and the odds of it sinking are much lower. for someone with less strength they should be stepping forward into this move.

    PEACE!

  • @superhumansight assuming.. to increase distance to 'deactivate' the opponents effective range, minimize the impact and control the momentum?.. seems like good footwork though even though i have no idea of wing chun..

  • @antreask basically stepping back is super-risky because your opponent could continue charging you until you're trapped on a wall or crashing into a table. you should meet their forward energy with your own to counter. backing up assumes they will only do one attack.

  • i agree with pantsleeves, waste your opponent using wing chun, every manouver you need is a technique in the wing chun system, why take their back and go to the floor when you can control an opponent from that position using the neck pulling hand. Other than that, sick wing chun, neck strikes, center punches, great distance awarness,im sure ud waste any bjj guy.

  • My experience in sparring WC practitioners has proven to me that this is untrue,

Have you ever sparred a grappler? Do you even have any idea how badly you would get destroyed without groundfighting knowledge?

  • Sorry to critisize but I must say this. Why? Why do you need to mix the grappling and the crawling when you are doing a system that specializes in knocking ppl out? Why do you want to change to wrestling when you're busy hitting them? Not for mixing.

  • I understand your point of view, but you must understand that now a days you must practice both. You must have an open mind. Many people practice only ground fighting and others practice only standing techniques, we practice both.

    Very Respectfully, Sifu Serrano

  • i couldnt agree more!

i myself am a Bjj guy and even tough i believe and know for fact that i could take out a lot of strikers with pure Bjj(not including you ofc :D ) mixing is a must in the modern days....and a lot of Bjj schools do Bjj as a main technique but do alot of striking aswell, and the same goes for the striking arts, alot of striking MA schools learn ground fighting now...and even tough any pure MA is anough to take out the average joe,to take down a trained fighter you need mixing:)

  • merry Christmas and best regards :)

  • @SifuSerrano Awesome that you reply here. Thanks for posting this. WCKfu is great. I am almost 65. Did tai chi... still practise... but I am going to find a place in Vancouver that teaches WCKungfu and learn it.. Nice that one can practise this without injuring the elbows and knee joins like in Karate. You don't even have to be strong to execute this stuff

  • @pantselves

    Why not?

Sometimes situations call for a submission instead of a strike to finish the fight.

You need to be adaptable in order to win in reality.

  • Very nice 5 stars.

  • thanks Sifu Serrano

  • what is your lineage Sifu Serrano ?
