  • Thank you Peter, nice one!

"...you very quickly learned that you must acquire a plug for yourself and guard it with your life."

  • Great story!5***** =)

  • Thanks Peter for sharing your experiance, humanity and exceptional humility. I can't get on my trials bike now without thinking about how much I'd enjoy sitting with you and having a chat about trials and life.

You have got me thinking that I have to write down some of the stories told to me by my father about his experiances because if I don't they will be lost forever.

Take care Peter. It's a richer world with you in it.

  • Nice story Peter!

  • You were 12-13 when the war had started and about 18, when it ended. I guess you didn't get in time for much action? Were you conscripted or did you sign up?

  • no respect!!!!!!!!!!Loser!mrketchup

  • i feel sorry for this guy

  • why do you eel sory for this guy?

  • lol every 1 is taking the piss

  • I'm sorry to be the one to point this out to you but, most people aren't " taking the piss" and he's a very successful youtuber- tv appearances, radio appearances and meeting the queen. I hope that clears up to your small mind that he's not just some crack-pot old fool and if you actually watch his videos you will find that out. For instance I direct you to his video "Crabby old man".

  • Wo pal why be so aggresive to me? i never did a thing...

  • Wonderful to hear another "Telling It All"

    Great story! Thank You Peter

  • hey now peter, hope you are well and finding time for fun. i truly enjoyed your story as I do all your musings on life and experience. take care

  • I never quite understand the motivation behind some of the exercises dreamed up by various military branches. I do realize they are trying to prepare one to be "tough" and to be able to withstand various circumstances. So odd some of them! Thank you for sharing!

  • peter i like your clothes in this vid..and ive enjoyed your videos for a while now as a subscriber

    have a good day sir!

  • Great story! I think getting young ones to toughen up must be really challenging. But for some, it's the only way.

  • Hi Peter...thought i would stop by and visit....Its so interesting to listen to you..i always learn something...everytime. Simple wisdom. Don't jump into a big water tank. Hah hah.

    Bless you Peter.

    MamaM

  • By the way: I'm glad to see you again. It's been awhile.

  • To jump into the cold water was the only true thing you had to prepare if you were in the navy, I suppose. I mean, cold water is the thing that was surrounding you for month, right? You better know your enemy...

  • I presume that was National Service, Peter. I just missed it, and the last guy I knew who went in was 11 months older than me. That seemed great at the time, but I now realise I missed out on having such great stories to tell the youngsters of today.

  • i seem to remember my dad telling me a similar story about having to jump in a tank of cold water, he joined the navy early 1950s

  • Great Job as always, Peter.

  • Apologies, I meant your naval days, sorry

  • Peter, Butlins and east coast suggest you are referring to Skegness, ?am I right ?, we visit there every year, it's where the annual rock and blues bash is held, they still use those same chalets ( much nicer now though ) there are monuments on site from your army days !!!!!

  • I enjoy listening to your stories Peter, take care.

  • Very interesting Peter!

  • haha that's even colder.

but thanks to these guys, we don't salute Hitler every morning :)

  • Peter, you are a wonderful storyteller! Thank you for sharing your wisdom and anecdotes.

    Kat

  • Peter, why don't you get one or two of those cameras you can leave on all th etime so we cna drop in from time to time to see what you're doing? Even though we've never met I feel I know you. You are never alone my friend!

  • I think military experiences are quite similar everywhere. Basically miserable.

  • Excellent story per usual Peter.

  • Great memories Peter.

I remember our DIs weren't allowed to touch us, so they came up with other cute tricks. He would step on your shoes and yell about your sloppy uniform and make you stay in barracks and clean floors with a toothbrush, or one time we went for a march with full gear in winter coats and he had us take 2 stretchers along and said we would not go back until 2 guys were out cold. Lovely memories, right Peter? The good old days. Enjoyed your video as always.

  • i like these stories

  • This wasn't by chance the sumarine escape training tank in Gosport was it? It's 100 feet high and used for escape training and survival training.

  • i love the telling it all videos

  • I actually went to Butlins at Skegness - it was freezing cold and the wind made it worse. The swimming pool was good, but the rest of it was pretty awful.

  • Please don't think you live alone... you are a keyboard away from a universe that loves you. However, the ones on Mars are only out for a good time, so don't mention skimpy bathing trunks.

Those trunks were before elastic, I guess.

  • Thanks Peter for another amazing telling it all.

  • enjoyed your brief causerie. Hope you have a nice day-oh i think it must be evening there. : )

  • i was waiting for the part where yours fell off...... glad it did not

  • Was that Filey Butlins? I worked there in the 80's and it was almost as bad then !!

  • I love Telling it all! Thanks Peter! =P

  • Interesting story. Worrying about sink plugs would have seemed such an odd concern, but a concern nevertheless.

  • thanks for that!!! more. more. more

  • I was half expecting you to say you jumped in the tank of cold water and your briefs came off to the amusement of the others lol.

Great and well told as usual.

  • you still rock

  • Good morning young man! Hope to hear about your factory tour soon.

  • A fascinating insight into times gone by. Would love to hear more about your National Service!

  • Peter, you're the same age as my father and he's got lots of stories about his Navy days. I wish he was on YouTube!

  • Love your stories Peter... Thanks

  • Brilliant video. It sounds like you had a rough time :)

  • I was in the Navy from 1988-1992. My experience wasn't as rough as yours, but I sure grew up a lot during my boot camp experience. Loved your story. The tank of cold water sounds horrible!! ;)

  • I love these telling it all videos

    interesting

  • Another great video.

  • You are so awesome!

  • Hi Peter, 5 stars as always.

  • Good as usual.
