@loutenore33 The Syndicated Sale of The Century actually lasted aired for 1 1/2 seasons. It originally aired on WOR Channel 9 and by the summer of 1985, it moved to WABC Channel 7 for the remainder for the ran. In fact, it aired after Jeopardy and by the Fall of 1986, Syndicated Sale of The Century was replaced by Jim Perry's former show, Card Sharks with Bill Rafferty.
I was right. For the second and final season, $ale migrated from WOR-TV Channel 9 (now WWOR My9) to WABC Channel 7's 4:30pm slot which lasted till September 5, 1986, the same day the doomed Tom Kennedy-based Price is Right went off the air. Three days later, the now-cancelled-and-defunct Oprah Winfrey Show took over the entire hour-long 4:00pm slot.
@tyrese3745 - Actually, Oprah originally aired at 10 AM...for the first half of the 86-87 season, the 4 PM slot was occupied by Jeopardy and Card Sharks w/Bill Rafferty. Oprah then moved to 4 PM in Jan. 87, w/J! settling in its current 7 PM slot and CS banished to something like 5 AM.
Didn't the show switch over to the WInner's Board format when the second season bowed? The show moved over to WABC in NY from WOR when the second season bowed on 9/9 or 9/16/85.
The voice overs in the promo are Bill Woodson (Of Odd Couple opening credit narration and Superfriends narration fame) and Lorenzo Music (longtime voice of Garfield 1980/'s-1990's).
And just think... just a few short years before this, 4:30 was movie time(cue in Joe Raposo's "Moving Pictures" theme).
