This topic is a double whammy. Abortions are bad when you got pregnant, pay for the consequence. But if someone is rapped then it is accepted. Either way both sides are wrong. It's like being in a pool full of piss and someone comes over to dump shit on you. Do you stay up and take the shit or do you go under the piss? But then, why the hell are you in a pool full of piss anyways?

Here's a really good way to keep from putting yourself in a situation where you think you will "need" an abortion. It's really simple, I promise, and it requires no money and very little effort. Here it is: Abstinence. Can't get pregnant if you don't have sex!

Abstinence does NOT cause people to engage in risky behavior. People CHOOSE to engage in risky behavior and then, when the consequences for their actions come knocking on their door, they want to blame someone or something else for their actions.

The truth is, though, as Sir Isaac Newton said, "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction." For every action, there is a consequence. And if you're going to engage in risky behavior, you'd better be prepared to pay the consequences and not foist the responsibility or the punishment off on something or someONE else, ie an unborn child.

@rickyfan3956 The statistics for abstinence programs are horrible. What happens is people end up engaging in oral and anal sex to avoid pregnancy and the spread of STD's goes way up. Not to mention that people end up having sex anyway and they get pregnant at a MUCH higher rate then those who were taught the realities of sexual education. It's time to drop your Bronze age mentality and get real. People have sex, deal with it.

Then, you wouldn't even have to worry about being pregnant or getting an STD in the second place. That even makes common sense. It's called Personal Responsibility. I'd choose to have the baby sent for adoption by a loving family. I'm a Filipino and my country is a conservative Catholic country, that's why abortion is still illegal here in RP. I used to support abortion on grounds of rape or relationships gone bad, but now I symphatise for the baby that would have been deprived of life through abortion. Abortion sends babies to heaven faster (If you're christen) and they're technically not babies yet. They can't feel pain or think "What a bitch! my life!" and if a woman who made the decision to have an abortion because she can't support the baby or has a bad.. bad setting..It would be in the best decision to abort it. TEHOMGZSTFUNOOB, Wrong, at 12 weeks it is a full formed identifiable human being. It has had brain waves for 6 weeks, its heart has been functioning for 8 weeks. All the rest of its human functions are indistinguishable from ours. If the mother's life or the babies life is not in jeopardy then abortion is the worse decision you can make. If the pregnancy is unwanted don't punish the innocent child by killing it, carry the baby to term and put it up for adoption to a loving family.

If a woman really doesn't want do deal with a pregnancy then she should use protection during sex to prevent getting pregnant in the first place. Every baby has a right to life, whether its wanted or not. Also, no woman could ever hate her baby.

Abortion is not the solution. How about carrying the baby to term and then putting it up for adoption to a loving couple. Let me tell you something, I saw this video of an actual abortion. They abortionist used some sort of suction machine. You could see via ultrasound that the terrified little baby was trying frantically to get away from the suction. I once had the mentality that abortion was 'killing babies', until a person very close in my life decided for her an abortion was the only was forward.

But then I came to thinking; This is her decision, and it's an extremely tough decision to make.

DanteLacey, I have seen the movie you are speaking of, "the Silent Scream". A study of anatomy would tell you that the response of the fetus to the suction was simply a reflex, like when a doctor hits you on the knee. A fetus at that stage doesn't have the mental capacity to be "terrified", or to consciously think about getting away from the suction. The brain is not involved with reflex, only the spinal cord. Therefore, using that footage as an argument against abortion doesn't work.

NDNgirl4ever, Sorry but your wrong. The fetus in that movie was 12 weeks. At 12 weeks it is a fully formed identifiable human being. Its had brain waves for 6 weeks and was more than capable of feeling fear, as was evidenced in its elevated heartbeat. The movements of that fetus when the suction instrument was introduced were not reflexes.

Well you are one of the lucky ones. A friend of mine was adopted and his family are a good family, but unfortunately he has suffered from depression and he thinks it's from him being adopted and he has attempted suicide on numerous occasions. He was always wondering what his birth Mum was like. So he tracked her down, and she turned out to be a complete and total bitch, and he wished that she had had an abortion insted of giving him up for adoption.
