Why were you surprised? You encounter Roa first in the original game as he is shown here. And since Melty Blood follows Satsuki's unreleased Good Ending, it's only natural they would use this version of Roa.

I would have expected SHIKI because he's the one usually associated with turning Satsuki vampiric (see: Far Side paths, and The Tohno Family Con Game). But...on the other hand, since Nero's dead in Satsuki's ending (and comes back as a tatari), that would mean it's actually in the Near Side...

Okay, never mind. You're right, Roa makes a heckuva lot more sense.

Frankly, though, seeing SHIKI in some form would be cool.  Blood swords, anyone? :)

Except in the unreleased Satsuki route, this version of Roa appears and is the parent vampire of Satsuki. So really, it wouldn't matter who Satsuki's parent vampire would be.

But since Melty Blood follows Sacchin's path, this Roa makes sense. Her route is set on Near Side anyway.

It's funny, because Melty Blood follows Sacchin's good ending, but without Sacchin in it, and with Arcueid still as Shiki's girl. For some reason, THAT doesn't make sense imo.

But if it follows her good ending then I assume that she still dies in it because in the melty blood manga which follows the same story line as the original melty blood that was like a visual novel (where you chose different paths depending on if you win or lose a fight) Sacchin is still dead and comes back as tatari and tries to kill shiki and sion.

Actually, Melty Blood and ReAct have the exact same story (just using the revamped system for the fights in ReAct). Act Cadenza almost took the route of DBZ Super Butouden 3 and said "screw a story" (they just remixed a bit the BSed character stories from ReAct). Actress Again does a revamped variation of the last 2 Arcade Modes and created a sequel scenario to the Story Mode from Melty Blood and ReAct.

And it all follows on the fake "harem end" ending that the Kagetsu Tohya fan disk sequels.

Actually, the developers thought it wouldn't be appropriate. If the character didn't appear in Tsukihime, Kagetsu Touya, or Melty Blood, then they are not adding him/her. Wait until there's an actual Type-Moon fighting game, but chances of that happenign are low. If they were to add Touko, they'd have to add Ryougi Shiki and Asagami. Which wouldn't make sense because they are exclusive to KnK.

Let's not forget adding Soren Araya. And Lio. And everyone else capable of fighting in Rakkyo, though I think we've listed them all. Eh, Lio'd get his ass raped by the DAAs present in the game, so maybe not him...

Well, look at Miyako and the maids. They have no special powers that would stand a chance against most of the power houses. So I wouldn't rule anyone out just because they aren't gifted with abilities.

Speaking of which, considering who Lio is, I'd bet he'd ENJOY getting his ass raped by the three DAAs, especially since Roa and Zephia are likewise quite FABULOUS themselves.

Roa = guy with black hair. He's not exactly new to the Tsukihime side of the Nasuverse, but he was only just added to Melty Blood because Nasu likes about as much as he likes Shinji but forces himself to make Roa an intimidating villain anyway. Doesn't keep Nasu from writing in Kohaku calling him a "washed out, psychotic piano teacher."

Riesbyfe = new female. She was mentioned in the past, but was only just now revealed.

Well personally I would like it more if Sacchin and Nrvnsqr were removed. They're dead. They aren't coming back. Yeah wallchia is dead but as sion said you can't destroy tatari itself. That and even if tatari were nonexistent wallchia just seems to be one of those villains who even though he's dead should still be around. But Sacchin and Chaos, I want them out. Trade them off for Executioner Ciel and SHIKI.

Nrvnqsr is in the game because in-plot he's an embodiment of all the unpleasant memories that he brought about.

Satsuki is in the game because in-plot the game follows Satsuki Normal. We don't know what happened to her, because Nasu (shine on you crazy diamond) probably hasn't told anyone yet.

They're both in the game, on a gameplay level, for being popular characters. Like I said before, sometimes you need to take "I WANNA PLAY AS NERO" over "wait why is he still alive." More money that way.

Also of note is how Roa and Riesbyfe are only now coming back because Dust of Osiris > Wallachia in terms of stupidity. Roa's Tatari was such a perfect mold that his soul actually came back from Akasha (regular souls are recycled into new souls, but Roa's soul doesn't decay like normal) and possessed the body, while Riesbyfe had her blood sucked by Wallachia and that was enough for Osiris to unconsciously perfectly recreate her. Both are completely independent from the Tatari system.

not really, since Arcueid faked up a crimson moon using her Marble phantasm, the contract for being a curse temporarily ended giving him a temporary form which was killed. but it was enough for his existence to end. however, Aoko is a powerful magus, one of those who attained true magic and she found a way to gather some of his remains

There is a difference in how shiki 'Kills' things, if he just cuts the lines, then the part falls to the floor 'dead' but doesnt disapper (Near side of tsukihime, when shiki first sees and kills arcuied, plenty of remains), but if he strikes their Death Point, all of the object is 'Killed' and turns to dust. Also in the Nero vrs Shiki near side fight, he cuts off Nero's arm, useing a line, so there was remains, as it couldnt disapeare cos it was 'Dead'.  In Ceil's ark, Ciel interupted

there is a reason for Sacchin and Nero be alive: Warachia. Warachia is immortal and is a curse (TATARI). He can bring to life the memory of dead people and the fears of human:thats why we have in the game Roa, Nanaya sgiki and all the others no more existent guys. Wrachia is Killed by Arcueid and Shiki , but he, as I have explained above, is a curse and, met the appropriate conditions, can return alive.

Wasn't he killed completely due to the fact that the red moon summoned by Arcueid in Melty Blood reverted him back to a regular (but still very powerful) Dead Apostle? That is, no longer a phenomena, but something that can be killed.

I wanted this game so FREAKING BAD that I imported the arcade system + the game on a pre-order. This series is just that AWESOME. Recommended to all. AC was great, but I prefer ReACT the most, got'em both on my comp. Once this is out for the PC I'll be sure to get it by p2p. Gotta love Melty Blood...I'm hooked and I just got the hang of it in June.
