Hey Scotty, I have a 2005 Chevy Cobalt that is leaking underneath the passenger side dash board when the AC is running, when I make turn, it sounds like a burning spraying sound, is there any way you can post something to help fix that?
my car was wrecked and now i would like to know how to check if my a/c leaks? how can i do that? i dont want to fill it with r134a if it leaks its bad
@BlooDish14 you put a little 134 a in and some uv leak dye, then check for leaks. I have videos on that, just type "ac leak repair " on the search on my scottykilmer channel main page
I have a 94 chevy pickup with an a/c leak.. a friend mechanic actually filled it once and blew nice and cool for a few day thats when I discovered it had a leak somewhere.. any tips and tools to use? I want to save money to learn myself just to be helpful.
@rfranco379 watch this video, and use UV leak dye to find the leak. If you see no dye leaking in the test, take the dash apart and you'll probably see the dye inside the evaporator core when you get to that.
hi i have a nissan altimma 03 the dealer wants to charge me 475 for a leaking a/c horse i would do it myself but i don't have any of the Equipment to do so are they over charging me?
Video much appreciated. This is fine for an "obvious" hose leaking situation with your A/C. My problem and perhaps the problem with a lot of other people is a slow leak. Took to a pro shop, paid $120 for them to put in the dye and check for leaks...well, they couldn't find any leaks. After recharging, the system leaks out to the point that you will have to refill once every year...frustrating. Any suggestions for leaks that can't be found using the dye? Thanks
THEN, use a sniffer to smell the leak. Could be the evaporator inside the dash which you can't see, but the sniffer can smell for leaks through the vents. Scotty
How many hoses are there to check for? And, is R-12 Freon and Johnsens Freeze-12 compatible? Can the two be safely mixed together without any current or future problems? I have no desire to convert to R-134a. Thank You
@Moralvorstellung7 You have to vacuum it out to get any air out, an empty system would have air in it if it were completely empty from the leaking area which would need fixing first. Scotty
@douglasgonsalves there is not cut and dry answer to that. Depends if much leaked out and there's no way to tell. Just guesswork, you'd have to empty out the entire system, take the parts off and drain all the oil out, and put a factory load back in. If you're worried, put half an ounce of oil in. Scotty
@JayJay6569 your truck is stuck in default mode, defrost. check for vacuum leaks under the dash and under the hood, you lose vacuum pressure, it goes to default. Scotty
@jhep1985 you have a set of Ac gauges hooked up to the low side port and high side port. Then you hook the vacuum pump up to the inlet hose on the gauge set. Scotty
Scotty: I have a totally empty AC sys on my 88 MR2, when I vacuum it down it won’t hold, so I have a leak, How do I find that leak? Do I add R134&oil just to find a leak? (The AC did work before I put in a new motor so I am trying to get everything working again) David
Scotty , can i take a working a/c unit and all of it's components off of one vehicle ( 95 Pathfinder ) and switch it to my vehicle ( also a 95 Pathfinder ) Can i get it to work still , like without having to put new freon and everything in it ? The donor truck has cold a/c , and mine isn't blowing cold anymore . Or , can i just change one thing out , and would it make mine blow cold again , without having to replace most of it ? Thanks for any feedback ... i know NOTHING about a/c !!
Scott I filled my car with Freon in the late seventies, I think we used like four canisters and we we good to go. Now as before there are different types of gasses. What is the standard gas? Don't you think you are taking some risk here. I like what your doing, but you cannot teach anyone in one hour let alone four minutes. This was my first job, for gods sake man, you may be putting people in harms way. I really like it when all the units are empty for convenience. Most just need a little.
Hey Scotty! The other day I was putting some fog lights on my car (2010 corolla) and I had a ground wire connected to what appears to be the A/C hoses. It was right under the radiator. Well as I was putting the ground wire on I was unbolting the bolt, as I was doing so it like exploded with some sort of liquid rushing out. What do I need to buy?
I check it again And the low side stay around 50 psi And the high side slowly jump to almost 450 as I rev the engine....then when the compressor cuts off because its too high on the high side the low side goes up to about 70....but if I don't rev the engine the low side read 40 And the high side read about 250 psi.....but I will check for restrictions..just giving you an update....is it common for the condensor or evaporator to get clog up.....
@scotty i have a 96 dodge v10 ram, i noticed leakage from my accumulator mounted on the firewall, my question is... is this normal? yesterday i came out to my truck and noticed a large puddle of what seemed like water as it wasnt oily . can accumulators malfuntion or fail? or this a normal funtion . thanx!
I have a 1993 Honda Civic. I replaced the compressor, expansion valve, replaced the dryer, flushed the system. After that I vacuumed the system. The problem is the ac is still not getting cold. When I rev up the engine, the high side goes to about 450 and the low side jumps up to about 70... Do you have any ideas of what could be causing this?
@lvlik9 your pressures are WAAY too high, you have internal restrictions somewhere in the system, such as bad condenser or evaporator or collapsing hose or tubing. Scotty
Great videos, I had a professional diagnose my a/c lines and he said that my low side ac line leaks and the lines connecting to the compressor leak. I have a 99 Ford Tauras, how much am I looking at for New hoses? He quoted me $400 for parts and labor. I would rather do it myself but dont know what to look for. Any suggestions? Thanks
@SevereIDAHO you can get hoses much cheaper aftermarket. they just bolt on and off, but you do need to evacuate the system and then refill it.Perhaps do the job, and let a mechanic do that for you in the end, see what they'd charge. Scotty
hey scotty wanted to say great work and to keep it up! but i need your help
I have a 2004 hyundai accent, i noticed a Hissing noise coming from my a/c vents and that my a/c wasn't blowing as cold as normal, i tryed filling it with some feon from my local autozone work for about a week with normal use not blowing it at full blast, but not the hissing is back and not blowing as cold again any idea
also i noticed the compressor is still working same with the blower
@cmdbullie1 no one really fixes them correctly, they are cheaply made inside with lots of plastic parts. You just put new ones on if you're smart. Even the rebuilt units are often crappy. Scotty
ok, JB weld, but will "mighty putty" epoxy work, for a temp fix of course, & after the freon leaks out, will there be an issue removing the "epoxy" from the high side valve w/ dust cap, so it can be replaced?
oh, also sometimes when i accelerate the AC quits blowing cold, but returns back after speed is reached, & its only sometimes,,, any thoughts
@420PotGod don't know, never used mighty putty. As for the AC, you have a vacuum leak somewhere causing that, see it all the time. Start searching for one. Scotty
I have 1991 Ford Econoline van. When I turn on the heater I get heat and the blower motor works at all speeds. When I turn on the AC, the compressor does not clutch in and the blower does not turn on. I checked and there is refrigerant in the system and the compressor is not frozen. I am thinking its a bad AC control switch. Your thoughts?
@msimbo93 probably, I would just hot wire the compressor directly from the battery and see what happens. On that old thing, who cares, I would then put a toggle switch on the dash to turn it on if that worked. Scotty
hey scotty, my 95 g20 vans high side valve is leaking, very slowly, sometimes you can hear it hissing, but i can tighten it down & it will stop for awhile, my question is,, can i seal the leaking valve with some type of putty until the freon is gone, & then replace the valve?
this is not really a DO IT YOURSELF AT HOME because it requires those machine and they're quite expensive so I'd rather go to a mechanic and have them fixed with warranty. But it's easy to do.
scotty i added some freon to a nissan maxima later while driving it started to overheat and coolant started to leak, what and why is the cause u think.
@hp11208 adding freon will not make a car overheat, but running an AC system that wasn't working before can IF the fans don't work right on the radiator OR if the radiator is old and can't take the extra heat that the AC condenser then blows in front of the radiator (since the Ac condenser is in front of the radiator, that extra heat makes the radiator work harder, and an old worn out rad often can't take it.) start there. good luck, scotyt
@scottykilmer I think thats whats happen was blowing hot air i ad freon then it started to blow cold air after the guy left he calls back saying his car is overheating temp gauge was going up, smoke coming out of the hood and coolant leaking from the radiator,i think one of the fan wasn,t working when i checked
I have a 1998 olds intrigue, and we had the first hot day a couple days ago. I turned the AC on, and the air was not being cooled very much at all, however the compressor was running. Hooked up my pressure gages, and it was low. Next day, hardly and pressure left and compressor won't even turn on. Third day, NO PRESSURE AT ALL in the system! I used it about a month before and it was fine. Could a leak start by letting the AC sit for a month?
Hey Scotty, I have a question regarding my 03 monte carlo. I have a leaking hose. There is a leak in the aluminum pipe (pin hole) that connects to the accumulator. Is it necessary to replace the entire hose or can I JB Weld the pin hole, evacuate the system and then fill it with freon again? Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Love the vids. Very informative. I have a 2000 Cherokee Sport and all the freon has leaked out. This has activated the low pressure switch where the compressor won't cut on. What is the procedure for getting freon in the system if the low pressure switch is keeping the compressor off?
@scottykilmer you can jump it with a paper clip straight from the low pressure cut out switch connector instead of the bat. Also when you change a hose you would want to put in 1-2 ounces of oil + the amount of oil that was evacuated with the freon.
Hey scotty ,I first wanted to say I really like your utubes they are very informative plus being in a good humor .I saw someone on the tube that made a rec system , from a harbor freight vac pump and a regular freon tank ,does that sound safe to you ? I wish I could explain better the specifics but I can`t remember that much.So again thanks for all the help "at least it has helped me".
Can anyone here tell me about how much it would cost just to have my system evacuated? I think I want to simply remove my system since it's been inoperable for a few years.
@nightmathzombieethan prices vary widely, so call around. But at places like harbor freight tools, you can get a pump for 40 bucks or so, so why not do it yourself? Scotty
FIX THEM YOURSELF? you got to buy refrigerant recycling machine, vacuum pump and ac refrigerant scale just to do that, it will be cheaper to pay a garage to fix them
hi maybe you can help me with the speed sensor location. I saw lot of videos how to change but not were is the location and my car is a mazda 626 97. I also need help with the ac i buy 2 times refrigerator 134 but the cool air is for one day only and i cheak for leaks but is realy deficult i can't find the problem. thanks
@yaniyoyo82 Finding AC leaks can be a hard job, just try what I show here, or pay a mechanic. As for the speed sensor, it's on the transmission near the back side. If you buy a new speed sensor, the guys at the store can show you a picture on their computer exactly where it is, and you can easily match it up once you have the sensor in your hand as a reference. Scotty
hi maybe you can help me with the speed sensor location. I saw lot of videos how to change but not were is the location and my car is a mazda 626 97 thanks.
"apparently" my car needs a new compressor put in it which will cost $850, then it needs new o rings, dryer/filter so altogether $1352.. 'apparently' there could also be a leak in the evaporator which will cost $1100 to fix.. not very sure about this, think i may be getting ripped off.
Scotty looks like you learn something from somewhere cause you turn your gas cylinder upside down and start charging in the liquid form.keep trying and you will get there eventually
Around the end of June my A/C stopped blowing cold air, so I took it to my local AAA and they replaced the freon. about $15 for the freon and $70 FOR LABOR?! yeah, so you can imagine my anger when the system stopped blowing cold air only a month later. Now they claim that they neglected to fix a slow leak the 1st time around but now instead want to charge me for a new compressor. Well, thanks to this video, I'm gonna take a looksie myself before I make any choices
Scotty you gave bad advise to chiapaneco71. any time you open the system you should replace the drier or accumulator, inside is a desiccant bag that traps moisture. once this bag becomes saturated with moisture it cannot be removed by evacuating the system. if the bags becomes completely saturated it can burst sending debris thru the entire system. In some cases it will destroy the compressor. a dryer or accumulator is much cheaper than a compressor.
Scotty, Love the video. Very helpful. I have a 1993 Dodge Ram250 pickup with the 5.9 Cummins. The AC doesn't blow cold and hasn't been recharged in at least 5 years - maybe more. it has the R12 system. What do you think of converting to R134? I've heard the sealants in the kits can mess up the compressor. Or have you had any experience with any other R12 substitute? Any recommendations? I need as cheap a fix as possible. Thanks!
@brianpmovie: Hi. My old Mitsubishi had an R12 system too and was empty for several years and I filled it up with R413a. I did a little research on the internet and R413a seems to be a better option than R134a, because you don't need to change anything (however mine is empty again, that's why I'm watching this video hehe). You need about 2/3 to 3/4 of the quantity of the R12 for your system. Don't forget the oil. You can find R413a under the name "Isceon 49".
Scotty, I did this last night, but with the high pressure hose, and it worked perfectly. My father-in-law is the careful type and was nervous about me doing it myself. So he stopped by with he neighbor who is a mechanic to take a look at my handywork. Said I did a real good job. I did give you credit and even showed him and his friend your video on my iPhone. Later I showed her dad how to acces your videos and he watched a few.
I've been watching your videos, and I have a question. We'll soon be getting another car as a sort of "spare" from my cousins, and I know its A/C is broken. My guess is that its got a leak, although it may be something simple like the clutch (it's so old, maybe no one bothered to look). The only thing is that it's an '84 corolla, and being so old, it uses R-12. Do you know of any way/where you could get the leak fixed and have it recharged?
HI, i have a 96 Bonneville and am getting a conversion kit to 134a. It is not that much money and reallycheap if you do it yourself. $100 for conversion and fill kit.
my A/C line rubbed up against my intercooler and put a hole in it (aluminum), its the smaller line so i'm pretty sure its the high pressure side, i might try to fix it with some quick steel (like mightty putty) i'm assuming it will hold pressure but not sure what kind of pressure the A/C lines hold
Great video, thanks. I have a 2001 Montana, which is blowing warm with the A/C on. The compressor kicks in as normal when the A/C is switched on and I will be checking for leaks, however Is there a filter that may be blocked that should be replaced? Thanks for your help.
@gaz2002 that vehicle uses an accumulator and they really don't clog up. BUT, you could have a clogged orifice tube, so check that, they only cost a couple of bucks. Scotty Kilmer
Scotty, my low pressure hose is leaking at the head - I've tried auto parts stores but they don't have them and since I have a Saturn there's no more dealerships. Do you have any suggestions on where I can get a replacement hose
@msredwun NOTHING will patch leaks in ac hoses, the pressures are too great. Sealers can sometimes work on metal parts or seals, but no hoses. Scotty Kilmer
Hey Scotty, like this video after replacing that hose would you recommend replacing about a 1.5 oz of pag oil and can I get away with cans of freon from parts store instead of the scale and 30 lb container.....
@000030stephen I'd put in one ounce. As for the cans, they are highly inaccurate, but if you have a scale to weigh what comes out of them, you can use small cans. Just put them on the scale and measure how much comes out of each, and add the total up. But you really need a scale. Scotty Kilmer
Scotty i have a 95 s10 bazer 4.3L 4x4 2dr . I cant seem to get the air to blow out of the vents that are face you on the dash. it comes out at my feet and on the top of dash onto the winsheild as if it were on defrost... what should i do? thanx. stressed college student...
@danajesse You have a vacuum leak somewhere on the intake system. Your vents are powered by vacuum pressure from the running engine, and when the system leaks, the default vent position is feet and defrost, so you don't freeze and the windows don't fog up making for dangerous driving. So run the engine and look for a vacuum hose that may have fallen off or rotten, it will be sucking air and making some noise. Scotty Kilmer
@plaidzinc You have a leak, and AC systems can leak in many places, from the compressor seal to hose connections to seeping hoses to condensers or evaporators with small holes in them as they rot over time. My advice, put in some UV dye and see where the green seeps out. That's how I find AC leaks. Scotty Kilmer
@plaidzinc I NEVER use any of those aftermarket kits or aftermarket gases, I don't trust them. But if it was just normal refrigerant in the can, then you have a restriction somewhere in the system that would need fixing. Scotty
Hi scotty. I think there is a bery bad problem with my engine now..
I was driving on freeway at 75mph and I saw a oil light on my gauges so I pulled over and the engine noise was terrible... It sounded like there was a monkey swinging hummer under the hood.. What can I do about this problem?
Can I just add some oil in it and am I going to be fine...?
@rb26dettsr20 Probably not. When you get that kind of noise from loss of oil pressure, the metal bearings get worn then metal gets thrown all inside the engine. If you baby it and put in heavy motor oil, like 50 weight racing oil, it might last longer. But odds are the engine has serious internal damage now. Scotty Kilmer
@coldpak82 Normally it's just a wearing out blower motor, just replace that with a rebuilt unit and HOPE it's not a lurking dash electrical short. Scotty Kilmer
@noxvet Man, you're lucky with that fix. those tubes hold upwards of 300 psi. I use JB weld all the time for fixes, but normally not with that much pressure. scotty kilmer
Scotty, my car is giving me problems with the same stuff. Now, i don't want to do it myself not because its hard, its because in here it is needed to have a license for refrigerators or compressor that uses cold non toxic gases. Now, since i don't have that kind of license, how much would it cost to do it? please tell me a price range because there's not going to be the same price in different mechanics. I wish i could do it but i just can't.
@elchicoboy Prices vary by mechanics and the cost of living in different areas. Some guys will charge 100 bucks to evac and refill a system, some will charge five times that. Also depends on the vehicle, if you own a Mercedes, bend over. I usually charge 100 bucks to do that, including refrigerant and oil. Scotty Kilmer
scotty 2 things i need to recharge the A/C in my Daewoo the only cap is the High Pressure line there is no Low Pressure line visable under the hood which line do i recharge the system also on my car it dont say anything under the hood about fan belts A/C or anything i always do not have a vacuum i want to charge it using a rechage kit at Kmart but im not sure exactly how to do it helo!
@Matthew55904 You have to vacuum the system out, and then refill it by weight or volume, Period. There has to be a low pressure line somewhere, it's the only way they could have filled it at the factory. I have no daewoo info in my data system, so I can't say where the idiots hid it, but it's got to be there somewhere. Follow the low side hose from the compressor back to the evaporator at the firewall. It has to be either on the compressor or on that hose somewhere. Scotty Kilmer
@scottykilmer i dont know were the compressor or evaporator even is i dont see any hoses going into the firewall at all i follow the H Line for the A/C and it disappears where i can no longer follow it all i know is there is a small A/C Box that says for refriderent only to take it to a professional to fill something along those lines the H line is either going into that box or coming out of it
@Matthew55904 The fatter line coming off the compressor is the low side line. Get a big flashlight and follow that line towards the firewall. Somewhere there has to be a low side fitting where you add refrigerant. Scotty Kilmer
@scottykilmer scotty as i have already mentioned i have no idea where the alternator is or any drive belts let alone the compressor why cant i just fill it with the H line?
@Matthew55904 the H line is the high pressure line, you can not fill it with that line because the pressure is too high, you would only blow up the cans you were using. Scotty Kilmer
Scotty...do you know of any other testing methods I could do? my 2000 Taurus must have a leak, as the AC system has been recharged twice now since i got the car @ 110K April 2008 (now at 140k) (once after having clutch/coil/compressor replaced w/motorcraft stuff), and it is still tepid. Ford stealer said it pressure tests fine when they intalled clutch/coil, no leaks. Lies. DOHC engine so you barely have any room to work under there. Is there like a black light I can shine to see the "dye"?
@Duratec86 Yep, for hard to find leaks, I use UV AC leak dye, injected into the ac system with a giant calk gun set up. Then the green dye is seen wherever it's leaking from, UNLESS it's inside the evaporator. For that , I use a leak sniffer and stick it into the vents. If it beeps, the evap is leaking. Scotty Kilmer

GTRantunez 7 months ago
@GTRantunez I suppose it was an ac line, and now you will have to install new O rings on the hose and evacuate the ac system and refill it. Scotty

O And the low side line is cold to the touch...thanks scotty...
lvlik9 7 months ago
I check it again And the low side stay around 50 psi And the high side slowly jump to almost 450 as I rev the engine....then when the compressor cuts off because its too high on the high side the low side goes up to about 70....but if I don't rev the engine the low side read 40 And the high side read about 250 psi.....but I will check for restrictions..just giving you an update....is it common for the condensor or evaporator to get clog up.....
lvlik9 7 months ago
@scotty i have a 96 dodge v10 ram, i noticed leakage from my accumulator mounted on the firewall, my question is... is this normal? yesterday i came out to my truck and noticed a large puddle of what seemed like water as it wasnt oily . can accumulators malfuntion or fail? or this a normal funtion . thanx!
MrAcewyatt 7 months ago
@MrAcewyatt if it's hot and humid, those things will sweat like mad and drip, that's normal. Scotty
scottykilmer 7 months ago
I have a 1993 Honda Civic. I replaced the compressor, expansion valve, replaced the dryer, flushed the system. After that I vacuumed the system. The problem is the ac is still not getting cold. When I rev up the engine, the high side goes to about 450 and the low side jumps up to about 70... Do you have any ideas of what could be causing this?
lvlik9 7 months ago
@lvlik9 your pressures are WAAY too high, you have internal restrictions somewhere in the system, such as bad condenser or evaporator or collapsing hose or tubing. Scotty
scottykilmer 7 months ago
Great videos, I had a professional diagnose my a/c lines and he said that my low side ac line leaks and the lines connecting to the compressor leak. I have a 99 Ford Tauras, how much am I looking at for New hoses? He quoted me $400 for parts and labor. I would rather do it myself but dont know what to look for. Any suggestions? Thanks
SevereIDAHO 7 months ago
@SevereIDAHO you can get hoses much cheaper aftermarket. they just bolt on and off, but you do need to evacuate the system and then refill it.Perhaps do the job, and let a mechanic do that for you in the end, see what they'd charge. Scotty

also i noticed the compressor is still working same with the blower
is it most like a leak hose?

@420PotGod don't know, never used mighty putty. As for the AC, you have a vacuum leak somewhere causing that, see it all the time. Start searching for one. Scotty

@420PotGod
My 97 Monte Carlo was doing that and it ended up being a very small vacuum hose. Check this first.

Your thoughts?
msimbo93 9 months ago
@msimbo93 probably, I would just hot wire the compressor directly from the battery and see what happens. On that old thing, who cares, I would then put a toggle switch on the dash to turn it on if that worked. Scotty

scotty i added some freon to a nissan maxima later while driving it started to overheat and coolant started to leak, what and why is the cause u think.
hp11208 10 months ago
@hp11208 adding freon will not make a car overheat, but running an AC system that wasn't working before can IF the fans don't work right on the radiator OR if the radiator is old and can't take the extra heat that the AC condenser then blows in front of the radiator (since the Ac condenser is in front of the radiator, that extra heat makes the radiator work harder, and an old worn out rad often can't take it.) start there. good luck, scotyt
scottykilmer 10 months ago
@scottykilmer I think thats whats happen was blowing hot air i ad freon then it started to blow cold air after the guy left he calls back saying his car is overheating temp gauge was going up, smoke coming out of the hood and coolant leaking from the radiator,i think one of the fan wasn,t working when i checked

@scottykilmer Scotty! I have a question for you!

Hey Scotty,
Love the vids. Very informative. I have a 2000 Cherokee Sport and all the freon has leaked out. This has activated the low pressure switch where the compressor won't cut on. What is the procedure for getting freon in the system if the low pressure switch is keeping the compressor off?
Thanks.
mark73168 11 months ago
@mark73168 just hot wire the compressor clutch power wire direct from the positive battery cable using a small jumper wire. Scotty
scottykilmer 11 months ago
@scottykilmer you can jump it with a paper clip straight from the low pressure cut out switch connector instead of the bat. Also when you change a hose you would want to put in 1-2 ounces of oil + the amount of oil that was evacuated with the freon.
chinhhhhh 10 months ago
@chinhhhhh ONLY if the system has power there, it's much more complex than that in modern AC systems. Scotty

th3m0vingshad0w 1 year ago

Thanks!
brianpmovie 1 year ago
@brianpmovie: Hi. My old Mitsubishi had an R12 system too and was empty for several years and I filled it up with R413a. I did a little research on the internet and R413a seems to be a better option than R134a, because you don't need to change anything (however mine is empty again, that's why I'm watching this video hehe). You need about 2/3 to 3/4 of the quantity of the R12 for your system. Don't forget the oil. You can find R413a under the name "Isceon 49".

Hi!
Thanks!

@000030stephen I'd put in one ounce. As for the cans, they are highly inaccurate, but if you have a scale to weigh what comes out of them, you can use small cans. Just put them on the scale and measure how much comes out of each, and add the total up. But you really need a scale. Scotty Kilmer

danajesse 1 year ago

Scotty Kilmer
scottykilmer 1 year ago
@plaidzinc I NEVER use any of those aftermarket kits or aftermarket gases, I don't trust them. But if it was just normal refrigerant in the can, then you have a restriction somewhere in the system that would need fixing. Scotty

Can I just add some oil in it and am I going to be fine...?
rb26dettsr20 1 year ago
@rb26dettsr20 Probably not. When you get that kind of noise from loss of oil pressure, the metal bearings get worn then metal gets thrown all inside the engine. If you baby it and put in heavy motor oil, like 50 weight racing oil, it might last longer. But odds are the engine has serious internal damage now. Scotty Kilmer

Matthew55904 1 year ago
@Matthew55904 You have to vacuum the system out, and then refill it by weight or volume, Period. There has to be a low pressure line somewhere, it's the only way they could have filled it at the factory. I have no daewoo info in my data system, so I can't say where the idiots hid it, but it's got to be there somewhere. Follow the low side hose from the compressor back to the evaporator at the firewall. It has to be either on the compressor or on that hose somewhere. Scotty Kilmer
scottykilmer 1 year ago
@scottykilmer i dont know were the compressor or evaporator even is i dont see any hoses going into the firewall at all i follow the H Line for the A/C and it disappears where i can no longer follow it all i know is there is a small A/C Box that says for refriderent only to take it to a professional to fill something along those lines the H line is either going into that box or coming out of it
Matthew55904 1 year ago
@Matthew55904 The fatter line coming off the compressor is the low side line. Get a big flashlight and follow that line towards the firewall. Somewhere there has to be a low side fitting where you add refrigerant. Scotty Kilmer
scottykilmer 1 year ago
@scottykilmer scotty as i have already mentioned i have no idea where the alternator is or any drive belts let alone the compressor why cant i just fill it with the H line?
Matthew55904 1 year ago
@Matthew55904 the H line is the high pressure line, you can not fill it with that line because the pressure is too high, you would only blow up the cans you were using. Scotty Kilmer
scottykilmer 1 year ago
@scottykilmer how come the H line has a cap if u cant really do anything with it

Duratec86 1 year ago
@Duratec86 Yep, for hard to find leaks, I use UV AC leak dye, injected into the ac system with a giant calk gun set up. Then the green dye is seen wherever it's leaking from, UNLESS it's inside the evaporator. For that , I use a leak sniffer and stick it into the vents. If it beeps, the evap is leaking. Scotty Kilmer
