This single handly kills anything out there software or hardware when it comes to any type of synth sounds. It is just incredible. I am a proud owner of this and I could be stuck on a desert island with this and be happy forever.
Hey, have you guys seen the Windows 7 equipped StudioBLADE keyboard workstation? Its perfect for running all your favorite Windows compatible software and plug-ins! Click the link below for videos!
how must my pc getting when it comes to the force in omnisphere i am thinking of- cpu and ram and hardisk, and what system is running best with it? windows 7??
If your on windows XP Omnisphere can only access 2 GB of ram you only need around 3GB but adding lots of patches together to form one crazy sounding patch could eat upto 4Gb of your ram. To get the most out of it only upgrade to 4 or 6 Gb ram after you have a 64 bit operation system installed other wise half your ram is not being used.
@NielsShoe hi , i thought you could update your pc xp version to 4 gig , and xp will use 3 gig of that which should be enough to run omnisphere quiet well! am i correct?
It's worth far more than the asking price Professional software synths normally cost around £160 they come with around 200 - 2000 patches Omnisphere comes with 7000 and they can be spl;iced together to form new ones pluss it has all the tools to make new sounds from each patch then splice them together for that they could ask for any price and those that really want it would pay it.
who thinks omnishpere is worth the money?? are you stupid? its worth 5 times the money! it sells for a bargain and people have the audacity to ask if its worth it gimme a break!
very much depends on the patches you use. they vary from 5mb up to 500mb. in average i use three instances which take around 1.2 gigabity ram all together...
@mimoocho Not true. I can run 4 separate instances of Omnishere and a MBP with 4 GB and not sweat it. Although it is hungry, it is totally usable and stable.
upgrading from Atmopshere and I wish I had done 2 day shipping cause I cant wait to dig in..it really looks like the whole interface and arpegiator will help get ideas flowing instantly
HOW UNNECESSARY YOUR LITTLE EQUIVALENT COMMENT WAS, YOU SAY WITHOUT SOUNDING LIKE A DICK, BUT REALLY YOU DID, YOUR A SAD LITTLE WASTE OF COMMENT SPACE, TRY HELPING SOMEONE OUT INSTEAD OF BEING PIECE OF SH*T THINK YOU KNOW IT ALL, HAHA TRY GROWING UP MY FRIEND. :D
Even though you got a wise ass answer before....you only need a sequencer if you want to record what you are playing. If you want to use it live you can use it in Stand Alone mode...but yes, if you want to record with it, you'll need something like Logic or Sonar, Cubase, Live, etc. etc...
from what i heard, Omni needs a host application(sequencer) to run, it relies on the VST or RTAS or something like that. dont think it can work as a standalone program :/
No you don't, I use Omnisphere for live performance on a Mac Mini and 2 midi controllers. You will need an audio interface to route your outputs through.
Im expecting mine this week, Logic user as well, Must say I prefer it over pro tools and FL. Not to knock those users of course. This will add some flare to my collection. XD
Because Im still learning about this stuff I have a question: any midi capable synth can interface? I have a Roland Juno D so can I hook that up to my pc to work with this software. Or do you need a controller board? Man this is phenominal stuff.
The Juno D is a great candidate for a MIDI keyboard. The answer is yes you can hook it up to your computer. Does the Juno have a USB port? If it does not you will need a MIDI interface.
Thanks for the reply the Juno D does not have a usb you have to go to a Juno G at least to get that. So a usb to midi converter and something like this is all I need. Great I'll look into it. Thanks for the help.
@spikesurge83 you cant beause you will probably get some messed up latency , that means if you hit 1 key on your keyboard, 0.3 second later you will hear he sound, thats why u need a good soundcard, and remember these instruments take alot of cpu usage if you use several channels for recording etc...
@hauzin well I plan on putting a bit more money into it. The rig is fairly new and built by myself. I may try out cubase sometime in the future. Anyone know where I can download 30 day trials for these types of things. I know you cant with omnispear since it's too big.
This is a great video - thanks for posting it! What are the specs on your Mac? How much of your CPU does O/S eat up? I have a 2.4GHz MacBook Pro with 4GB RAM and am hoping for minimal crackling . . .
not as good as logic and certainly not as good as waves
they are pretty terrible actually. I mean the compressor barely pulls, the EQ is harsh and the reverb sounds very algorithmic and fake.
Yeah, Logic are miles better but I prefer to use Waves. Waves IR is the best reverb I've ever heard anywhere, and the SSL compressor is really smooth sounding.

How would u compare this to Absynth 5?
apolajenko 1 year ago
@apolajenko How can you not? Quality from Omnisphere is amazing same with Atmosphere. All the sounds are straight from analog synths themselves.

@apolajenko this shits all over absynth! i cant vouch for 5 but i doubt its much better than 4

@Neyowolf If there's no USB, your cheapest option is to get a MIDI to USB adapter.

Only a little keyboard chord knowledge is needed and a composer's ear, you're on your way !
