This is quite a good dialogue actually. You can argue that "I HATE THEM" and stuff is not very imaginative and artistic, but it feels REAL and NATURAL. It'd just feel wrong if Anakin put much thought into his words here. "I HATE THEM!" is all he can come up with and that's realistic! :)
Love this scene...One of the official beginnings of the dark side creeping in....but i have to ask...if your significant other told you that, would you still be with them???''''lol
@Colbystrns George Lucas really does suck at the dialogue. It feels so wooden, so stilted. I'm not Shakespeare, but even I can write better dialogue than Lucas. He should actually LISTEN to the way people talk.
@TheAclrip This is my favorite scene from the movie but I hope it isn't because on some deep level I can relate. Used to watch it all the time growing up, and wanted to be just like Darth Vader, and dreamed of having that kind of decision making.
Let's put it this way: it's a good thing Laurence Olivier is dead, or he would live to see himself surpassed by the prodigious talent of Hayden Christensen.
Sarcasm? Absolutely not! Look at how he pouts like a whiny school boy about to cry for his mommy because he fell off his bike and scraped his knee. How menacing! Such a unique and unorthodox approach to portraying raw, murderous anger! Brando had nothing on this guy.
@VanguardSupreme I'll admit I was dubious at first, but your critique has changed my opinion of this talent. I can see why Christensen won the Anakin role even though Marlon Brando already has a name that sounds very Star Wars. Hope to see him one day in An X-Wing Named Desire (Leads to Anger Leads to Hate Leads to the Dark Side).
There was a starwars marathon on last night and I had such fun with this scene. Maybe I'm a callous bitch, but I love to immitate it and go all mellodramatic. It's so funny to me!

@jlg395 I know, right? We're meant to sympathize with Annie, but how can we when he's a psychopath who remorselessly killed innocents while enraged?
