where did you get that skid plate from the bumper to the axle and what brand is it? i have a 1991 yota and its just blew the head gasket so ill be doing and engine swap soon. truck looks great by the way
hey, i have a 1992 toyota sr5 pickup 4x4 and the abs lights are staying on and wont shut off but there isnt anything wrong with it + i checked to see if there is power on the brake fluid level sensor thing and there wasn't. I think there is supposed to be a light for it on the gauges. please help me
Agreed. They both basically have the same lower end, but the heads and all the valve-train of the 5vz-fe are completely different. The 5vz-fe is such a better engine all around... ill never touch a 3vz-e ever again! I did a 5vz swap in my 90' and it really is a world of difference.
@MrMotokx250f yea I wasnt trying to be a youtube comment replier dick head, but I seen somebody with one of thease engines and it was just a gutless turd. A lot of people are putting a 4.3 chevy engines in their yota and they are torquey and compact as hell.

Anyone know of a place on the net that shows you how to remove the heads for this engine? My gaskets need replacing and I want to gather as much information as I can before I change them.
ok i got a 91 toyota pickup sr5 automatic 9lucky me huh?) and i was wonderin does anyone know a company that produces a body lift for my truck i cant find a company anywhere?
@ccssk8er123 you know, someone like me would actually buy a beat to shit little mazda, buy hockey pucks and lift the shit out of it for kicks.....be careful what you say!!!
@hondaman338 just go to lordco or something, and they lift kits there man. or you can do it yourself, meaning you can slide maybe 3 inch solid blocks of solid steel under oron top of the leafsprings, and that will give you a somewhat lift of like 3 inches. make sure you have longer U bolts though, that fassen the leaf springs down
I AM A HUGE FAN OF YOUR TRUCK , PLEASE CAN YOU PLEASE uPlOAD A VIDEO OF YOU DOING 0-60! THERE ARE NO TOYOTA VIDEOS OF 0-60 and I have watched all the toyota Supra videos soooo. Please let me know if you post a 0-60 vid I need to know how fast your truck is from a stop light or something cause I need to make a decision, turbo the 3vz and put headers, duals etc... OR SWAP A 2jzgte twin turbo 320 hp stock and swap a turbo and all other things for 700 hp on pump gas. WHAT TO DOOO ...
There is a way to make the 3.0L V6 last, never owned one but I've heard of guys running them over 250-300K with around 200hp. I know headers for sure make a big difference especially with the head gasket issue. I wouldn't mind a 3.0L but I would for sure fix the head gasket and oil problems before it blew up, not after like everyone seems to.
mine is a 93 22re pickup, trust me im a mechanic i research all the time, this morning i found out that toyota is going stop making some models because they are not safe legally. fords and chevy are to expensive for 3rd world countries. did you use you toyota like a real truck or just to drive around town?
Like a real truck, out hauling most of the full sizes out there and out lasting them too, all while getting 28mpg. I don't really care to argue, the proof is all over the world, I only see Chevy's in malls with stupid lifts or dragging frames. I am also a Ford guy, but my old Toyota will definitely outlast and out perform my old Ranger. And Fords and Chevy's aren't too expensive when you have private companies and small armies spending around $25000+ for an equipped Toyota Landcruiser/Hilux.
That sucks dude. I guess just bad luck? I've beat mine pretty hard on the trails, jumped it and planning on putting a camper on it this summer. Only issue I've had is a blown 3rd in my tranny, clutches wear out on any vehicle, same with shocks. Watch out with the Toyota's (or any vehicle) as the cheaper brand clutches wear out quite a bit faster, it pays to go OEM Aisin or a performance one from Marlin or LCE or something like that.
i just blew another head gasket about a month ago, i check the cylinders for worp, and they're worped, now i got to go down to a machine shop have them shave a little off. ill probably have to put in forged pistons and all that good stuff to deal with the higher compression...itll be fun though
i have a 93 yota with 279k miles its needed the head resurfaced once and now needs a second and it need a complete rebuild, its had two clutches, all four shocks replaced, the heater doesnt work, the radio stoped also, i can no longer unlock my doors with the key, ive had to replace the exhaust, and all the sensors...i also have a 01 explorer with 249k miles with nothing EVER wrong with it..toyotas are fun but not durable they are made in china just like walmart and are cheap
Toyota are made in Japan. Mine has 334K and I just replaced the tranny cause I lost 3rd gear. Toyota's are probably the most durable and reliable trucks out there, plus easy to work on and repair if something does break. You must've had a 3.0L V6 which unfortunately is prone to a few problems but there's a few fixes that could've saved you tons of money if you would've researched. Toyota's are world proven though, I don't see any Ford's or Chevy's in 3rd world countries with 300K+ on them.
most engines are alum head with iron block, (imports)... 3.o v-6 was bad design...3.4s outstanding,.... 22 R/REs are exc engines, open the exhaust up.... adjust valves... do a good tune-up, they will out -perform a 3.0 with better mileage, want more power? go to Toy performance web-sites... your wallets the limit with the 22R
we currently have 3.4 liter v6 in our t100 and it has been one of the best Toyota motors we have had as far as mileage goes plus if my facts are correct the 3.0 v6 was aluminum heads and steel block witch had head warping issues. we are currently in the process of an engine swap ourselves from the 3.4 to a Chevy 383 stroker. take a look at our t100 on my channel
I have a 1990. 3.0 v6. I want the 3.4. The 3.0 is shit. I have a warped head on mine. its been sitting in my driveway since june. The end of the school year. I went my entire summer without my yota. My first summer with it, its broken down :(
Hey I have a 94 toyota pick up with the 22re, it runs strong, but need more... what year is the engine you put in and where did you find all the parts to fit your truck
hey where youlive in mass?i have 94 toyota pickup and i wanna lifted my truck but i dont know if i buy suspencion kit i need buy body lift what you think?
was it an automatic and if it was where did he get the 2" body lift for it i cant find one for my 91 anywhere the make them only for manuels the ones i find
why didnt you swap the newer 3.4 engine in? it bolts right up to the stock 3vze. the hardest thing to do with the swap is the wiring conversion, and they even make a conversion harness for it so you dont have to mess with it if wiring isnt your thing. I love it though. But yah, for the money you spent, you so should have got a 3.4, the 3.0's are garbage compared to them.
thats a great build. i have a 92 as well with 305k miles on it. if you dont mind my asking how much was the engine swap? or all the work for that matter. AWESOME truck and clip...i'd love to see more of this truck
Nice truck. I too have a 92 pickup but doesnt quite look like that. lol. 240,000 thousands miles. No A/C shitty sterio system. No major work done exept cooling and braking system. It wont last much longer but after 16 years It is in exellent condinition. I Hope to one to rebuild it back up to a powerful beast.
