  • This is one thing I hate about the French. You encourage people to visit their country from abroad and when you ask them something in English they'll completely ignore you.Do you honestly think someone is gonna learn the language just for a visit to see the Eiffel Tower or to see some vineyards? Obviously not. Dont encourage tourism if you aren't gonna welcome tourists.

  • @0oPadmano0 oh là là those anglos saxon are tiring not even well educated to understand respect... you lear Merci bonjour au revoir , not too difficult no ? and you will be more than welcome...

  • I think he realised half way through his sentence that he was contradicting himself just by answering the guy's request in English. But fair play to him anyway, I agree with the sentiment.

  • He's right and this comes from an english speaker, we want them to speak our language when they come to our country, so we must speak there language in their country

  • people who actually "fuck the french" or "don't give a shit about the french" or say "french suck", are wasting their time, looking for a french video and commenting the video... Actually, u guys fucking love the french. Look at top comment TNAFAN, he is from Amsterdam, and he loves the french! I've never looked for a dutch video cauz i really don't give a fuck about them. :D

  • @ecocotier

The travel firm Expedia asked 4500 hotels across the globe how they rated the tourists from different countries. Within Europe the British were the worst, however Internationally we were the second best behind Japan, France Internationally was one of the worst. They were also found to be the least likely to try a foreign language when abroad.

I do commend you for learning another language, I plan on learning a language once I've finished University but haven't decided which one yet

  • @tbatallen I give up with british... Not possible anymore, too narrow minded and arrogante...

So my friend from UK when you go somewhere just learn some words as I do and you will be more than welcome everywhere...

  • @ecocotier ha ha. I will love to watch you French cu#ts in 15 years trying to ask China to speak French. " Pardon monsieur, can you speak English please so i can understand?".

  • @ecocotier. Speak English because Britain, America, Russia etc worked so hard so you wouldn't have to speak french, Twice!

  • @mr9396 oui oui c'est ça... Adieu !

  • this is soo funny im sorry :D i can only laugh at this seening im french and english and i actually have to deal with the stereotypes xD

  • He says.... In English

  • same here from german foreign minister

And this made a WAVE ...

  • pretty funny ; maybe the reporter should learn french badly and ask anyway

  • This isn't about language or locality, it simply shows how disrespectful this prick is. I'm English, but if I was asked a question in French, and I spoke French, I would answer respectfully.

  • @wyted Who is the more direspectful, the one who come to France wihthour knowing one single word (and journalist !!!) or the one who is at home and do not want to speak in a foreign language cause he knows it is dangerous and difficult... So if you come to a country without knowing a word you show a huge direspect to the population you are speaking -> that's exactly why the world is pissed off with direspectful english !!!

  • @ecocotier Throughout the course of my life, I have visited, and will visit, many places where I don't speak enough of the native language to hold down a conversation. I must be such a disrespectful person, no? Maybe Chabal was left out of the 2011 World Cup squad because he doesn't speak Māori? Plus, you assume the journalist doesn't speak any French? What are you basing this assumption upon? This is exactly why the world dislikes the arrogant French!

  • @wyted I think you from UK are much more known for your arogance than us... We are open minded upon other culture... and when I travel to a country I learn few words bonjour, au revoir, merci because it is respect and a way to enter in communication in a nice way but obviously as most of English you do not understand that point and go all over the word with english without showing any respect ... That's why the whole world and especially your olde colony do not like you : Australia, NZ...

  • @ecocotier Australia was more like a off-shore penitentiary than a colony if we're honest, but they can't moan, look at the weather! So, you're open minded to other cultures, but you won't answer a simple question in English, when you speak the language? If you were a journalist who was whisked off to China, would you be able to ask a native a question about sport in Mandarin? If the native spoke French, would you not ask the question in French in order carry out your job?

  • @wyted complètement stupide, we are speaking about French from a GB journalist, french is an international language and more spoken in Europe than english.. So do not waste my time with crazy gb man and completly narrow-minded and arrogant... Au revoir !

  • @ecocotier French is a nothing language. England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, America, Australia, New Zealand, India, developed countries in Africa, the better part of Canada. France, Belgium, a small part of Switzerland and the crap part of Canada is not really international mon amis. France is internationally known as the nation of cowardly, arrogant, smelly people with hairy women. Food is ok. Nothing special. Some good films. I am English and speak German, Spanish and French. : )

  • @25december and England is internationally known as a narrow minded, chauvinistic nation. I guess you meet the stereotype.

  • @25december

How many french women have you met ? How many french people have you smelled ?

Why are we coward ? Because of WW2 ? Well that's easy to say so when you're hidden on an island.

Give up with these old clichés. Britain is not that brilliant : crappy hospitals, crappy subway, crooked teeth... THESE are facts.

  • @ecocotier "@wyted I think you from UK are much more known for your arogance than us." ar·ro·gance [ar-uh-guhns] noun - offensive display of superiority or self-importance; overbearing pride. See Also, Irony.

  • @ecocotier P.s. Hello, Good Bye and Thank You! Vous ai-je bien compris?

  • What a cunt.

  • Erm... I'm French and German is the most spoken language in Europe... France used to but not anymore :(

But we'll have our revenge hehehehehew >:)

  • @tnafan merci mon ami ;-) Nous adorons l'Amour effectivement lol

  • @tnafan WOW man, your "fuck the french" will change my life for ever -_-'

  • @PetrKL21 oh ouiiii ;-)

  • about fucking time English is not the master language and we shouldn't expect everyone to speak it (I am English btw)

  • @zarinmg yes right in Europe French is the most spoken language !!! In our country we espect to be respect !! so learn our language or some words before coming here and you will be more than welcome... Un ami ;-)

  • @ecocotier Sorry, but I have to tell you that isn't true, the most widely-spoken first language in the European Union is German.

  • arrogant french mutherfucker like sarkosey they hate america thats why germany and france made the fucking euro to screw the dollar we ar enot blind we know what going on

  • @OUWATZAHLE08 of cause, because you think that America is the center of the world?? well you pretend but it's so far from what you would like.

  • @OUWATZAHLE08 So arrogant how dare he want to speak his language in his country...the nerve of that guy.

  • WHO ARE YOU CRICKET

  • well he answered in french so he lost

  • @mtucke314

You mean, he answered in English.

  • @mtucke314 fail...

  • Fair enough.

  • Yeah, can't say I blame him. Most people in other countries aren't expected to learn foreign languages. Why should western countries be any different? Because we're white or something?

  • @obglobgablob Not true, actually. The majority of the world is multilingual, speaking more than one language native to their region or belonging to the country that attempted to colonize them (French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic). Even in Europe, where pretty much all countries' governments use one language, there are many people speaking minority languages that are expected to be bilingual or multilingual (i.e. Friulian in Italy, Gascon and Occitan, Sam in Finland).

  • @Furmingbacham12 So you're saying this guy is an asshole for not being bilingual?

  • @arccotangent Not so much for being monolingual (I don't know if he speaks more than one language, but here he did respond in English so I wouldn't call him that). Instead, Patriotism in using one language and telling other people to use it does make him an asshole. Speaking other languages is good and has nothing to do with language death. If you all can communicate, why not just answer questions? He could answer in French to an English question.

  • @Furmingbacham12

Would you say that the majority of people are mulitlingual, though? Or less than half?

  • @obglobgablob Majority as in significantly more than half. Pretty much Europeans who speak the language of their government are the monolinguals, as they have no "need" to immediately use another language. However, that isn't to stay Europeans don't speak more than one language, as many people who do speak the language of their government (and not a minority language of their country) learn another, such as German, French, English. I'm just saying in response, multilingualism is good, not rare.

  • @Furmingbacham12

According euractiv.com, it's actually only about half. Don't get me wrong, that's still a really good rate and probably trumps the rest of the world. Just saying.

  • @obglobgablob Are you talking specifically about Europe though? In terms of population, there usually are more monolingual people who speak a majority language, but every country has multilingual communities (200 countries speaking 6500+ languages). It also depends on how they gathered the data; did they ask all 7 billion people?

  • @Furmingbacham12

lol of course they didn't ask all 7 billion people. Did you get asked? No, of course not. Don't be silly.

Didn't read that much on the study, to be honest. I was quite tired when I made that post.

  • lmao what an asshole

  • ok ....Chabal go in japan and speak japanese !fuck off !

  • When you are in "this is sparta" videos, yoou have to speak spartan.

  • @ecocotier, your point fails to be valid buddy? if they are so close-minded like you claim they are, then why the hell is London a cosmopolitan city with all sort of different ethnic groups in the first place? Can you explain this to me? Do you say that just simply because you are bitter about the fact the rest of the world have turned into their favors rather than yours? Is it the reason why you keep mouthing about them all the time just to feel better about yourself? Is it the best you've got?

  • @TaMereIsFuckable man their politic point of view is different communities and us : République... but really english are not interested at all by other culture... they are just everytime rude with us french but we are more respectfull with us... Maybe the world have turned into theirr favor, but look at the world now ! I do not feel really well in that all capitalist world. France is not agree with that and we claim it and other countries listedn our different voice !

  • @ecocotier, tell me on thing my friend, if France was the topdog of global power , do seriously you think they would be doing a better job than the english around the world? I mean , put the british and the french colonies side by side, then compare them...you can actually tell the british ones have clearly been more successful for the most part, it is basically obvious and you have to take that into consideration as a result.

  • @ecocotier, BTW, they are not the only ones to be rude with you, take the yanks, spanish, italians, germans, and so on for instance. it clearly, shows that they are not the only ones in the boat.

I do not feel really well in that all capitalist world. France is not agree with that and we claim it and other countries listedn our different voice !

if you don't really feel well with capitalism, then why do you live in a country that bears a lot of influence from that system???

  • @zurechtweiser I'll try to speak a little bit with you of German to see if I got it right!!! So, this is how it goes.

So, how's my german. does it sound good or awful???

  • @MrPopFR, rest assured that Quebec will remain in Canada...and FUCK FRANCE BTW!!!

  • @ecocotier, Have I ever mentioned something about liking France???where in the world did you read that???

  • @TaMereIsFuckable it was of course ironic !!!

  • It's fair enough, but the French are just so bitter that English is the most spoken language in the world.

  • I don't blame him, too many Europeans are turning to centralization of cultures, and I think that leads to the destruction of cultures.

  • ¡Vive la France!

  • He answered a question in english...

  • i guess he is right that Chabal..he is in France..and u want to interview him so ..!

  • wanker

  • French are my heroes THEY still got IT.

  • what a wanker, thats just rude

  • @Kurturmis rude from the journaliste... no respect at all... Come on, sortez votre doigt du cul and learn foreign country if you are a professionnal journalist, AT LEAST, you should know the language of the country you are in... Do you want interview ? Lack of professionnalism, no respect and lazyness... Vive la France, vive notre langue

  • well done to chabal its a pity we dont do it in Ireland

  • To be fair, they were in France, when you're in another country, you make an effort to speak their language.

If I may quote the top commenter..."This speech is just a reaction of an interview in England, when the journalist told him "We are in England, speak English"."

Personally, I've never met the fellow so I haven't a clue what he's like, but he's a damn good rugby player and I respect him.

  • Cultural Pride!! Of course not understood by brits and yankees cause they have non and destroy all!! CRETINS!!!

  • @aburgheim It's more like being an asshole than being proud of your nationality and language. It's something French people usually do, they did the same with Romanians and many more other cultures. They even refuse speaking English with people that don't know French just to manifest their brilliant 'cultural pride'...

  • @slim240293 Monseigneur Chabal is a accomplished athlete and some piss for a journalist tried to sound intelligent C. told him to fuck of. Its brilliant and i like it.

You dont get the subtle fact that C addresses the pencil in english to let him know that he could but wont. Still, i understand you can not realize a reverse brain fuck if it bites you in the eyeball! Now wank of in your parents basement or fuck your sister, the one that circumcised you when your mother kicked her in the chin....

  • @aburgheim You tried to sound smart but failed miserably. What are you, a six year old kid, what's with those childish remarks?! :|

Next time try reffering to my previous comment. All you did was deflecting from what I initially said, repeating useless stuff I already knew. Oh, and try learning English properly, it's very important! But I guess you'll be asking people to speak in French with you even if you leave the country... :))

  • @slim240293 Whats your problem with children again?? As for my english, obviously you get the point and thats enough for me Einstein. Go back to the basement and lick your mama you pathetic wannabe intellectual. In regards to languages, i speak 4 you inbred schmuck but that wont save you from written harassment and abuse you sorry hairball. Now have an other brainfart and enlighten us you pathetic youtube grammar detective!!

Ever try using the left brain versus your spinal cord spellgenius??

  • @aburgheim Ever tried to actually be smart and reffer to my previous comments? All you did was to curse and offend me like a child. You lack maturity and inteligence, so far. Come back when you actually have something to say so we can have a good conversation, or don't reply at all! When you'll decide to say something clever, I'll listen to you! ;)

  • When in rome do as the romans do.. or france in this case. I wish more people would learn this when they come to live in the UK.

  • At least he had the good grace to tell him in English.

  • This is not racism, its patriotism, good on ya Chabal.

  • @duceoldschool How could anyone get this to be racist when Englishmen and Frenchmen are the SAME RACE???

  • Comment removed

  • @Densegrandeduvan exact, remarque pertinente, dorénavant on entend parler un peu trop de racisme à mon goût !

  • ok

  • english sounds so shit compared to the french language

  • @guitarreilly I do not know if it sounds shit but french is much more difficult, much more littéraire than english one... We like this difficulty to think before writting the right spelling, we adore our language beeing our culture and identity... Un ami...

  • Badass.

  • Mother fucker, you only speak English when Germans fuck you from the back, huh? Pouvez-vous m'aider, my American brother?

  • Okay....so I hope that when he is in Italy, South Africa or Argentina he speaks their respective languages and not French/English...what a douchebag...

  • @Rokkatru Ridiculous.

  • The French are fiercly protective of their language, many French beauty products, mineral waters from France, etc, have French written on it too, it's important their language is preserved, and only correct that in France we speak in French.

  • @lilyeve222 merci thank you for understanding us with our culture, our language, our identity...

  • @ecocotier you're welcome, it would be impossible not to love French language and culture.:) I just wish I didn't find the grammar a bit difficult sometimes, ;) I will never give up learning though.

  • many english words have come from french influx as well as normandian. german and celtic remember there it's been a proccess ever since the world is world. i goes both ways and it happens with all the languages. nowadays english is the universal languace for commerce and worldwide communication. but remember even back in medieval times it was french which had that status.as german did before and latin and greek even the english nobles and court used french leaving english to the common people

  • What a douche.

  • Quelle belle quenelle, bravo :)

  • 5% of all comments on youtube refer to stupid jokes about Justin Bieber's dick and the dislike bar, Chuck Norris, "So we meet again 240p" and stupid dubstep jokes "roses are red...". The other 95% is about WWII.

  • This has nothing to do with racism or xenophobia, stop talking nonsense.

Chabal played most of his career in UK clubs and has lived in England for years...

This speech is just a reaction of an interview in England, when the journalist told him "We are in England, speak English".

And this rudeness is also a part of his character...

Why are you always seeing problems where there are not ??

  • @MrMorlange of course rudeness is part of his character, he's french

  • @MrMorlange If you would not mention that story with the journalist in England I would see nothing else than rudeness... Unfortunately there are many people like me who do not know about that. Just take it in consideration. :)

  • @MrMorlange why dont you stop making excuses trying to make him out to be a cool guy or something. this is the way every french person is. when you go to france if you speak to them in english they get annoyed. the difference in england is english is like an auxilliary language, if both of you can speak the same language but you refuse unless its in your native tongue then you sir are a dickhead

  • @1MexJ utter crap , I dont speak French and all the people I work with in Paris appreciate that , they know I dont speak French and none have issues with it. I am in Paris ever other week , what they appreciate is you attempting to speak French , you learn something new...The French aren't half as bad as portrayed.

  • Xenophobia, as French people usually do it...

And they wonder why the other Europeans, plus Americans hate them. :))

  • @slim240293 A lot lot of persons love us... Language is a great part of our culture, we adore our language... We are a littéraire country... Nothing to do with racism but just defend our culture, our identity... But as we are open minded we write in english for you.... Vive la France, vive l'Europe

  • @ecocotier You love and respect your own language and culture, but you (referring to French people in general) also are arrogant, you offend other nationalities and refuse to speak English with tourists. Oh, and speaking about racism, why do you hate Romanians so much? (beside the fact that most of the gypsies come from our country)

I've seen a lot of French disrespecting other cultures (including Americans) and that doesn't seem right!

  • Comment removed

Non ?

  • @ecocotier We're on YouTube, we speak English, you fucking moron!

  • Comment removed

  • @slim240293 you are in a french video, you speak french ok
