Kid is not just a 3 chord rock and roller or blues player, if you listen to his chord changes I can tell from listening to jazz guitarist he is using not just using 7th, but 9th, and 6th and many other jazz chords. Amazing.
Around 1970 I saw John Mayall at the Palladium in L.A. his guitar player was named "High Tide Harris" this is the style he played mmI later met and played with him in Oakland at Elie's Mile High Club. I have never been able to play this sophistaced a style but I always appreciate it and emotionally it gives me the desire to keep playing.
The Kid is as amazing as ever. He is one of the few contemporary blues players who comprehends Charlie Christians ideas and can place them in a meaningful jumping swinging context.. I love Johnny Cat but there may not be any one who comes close to the Kid, maybe Duke Robillard I mean I's sure there's someone but of those I have actually met and heard live The Kids number one.
Having seen almost every great guitarist of the last 50yrs or so,I must say that the KID is just maybe the best I have ever seen play. I saw him Thursday night in New York at Terra Blues and he blew me away in a way I have not seen or heard in years
My comment was about the size of the guys hands, in which case genetics has everything to do with it. He has a physical advantage over most folks, that all the practicing in the world can't overcome.
Django Reinhardt had TWO fingers on his left hand, dude, and he could play rings around me or anybody else for that matter.... It does help to have large hands and long fingers but music comes from your brain, not your limbs. I got huge feet too, but I'm a rotten soccer player!
geezz you take me way back...we used to play together with old bass player from canned heat ?[played upright] at the Quite woman in laguna/ dana /newport or somewhere near? maybe 33, 34 yrs ago....he played a big red 335 too....makes wanna play again...........oh .....i remember, larry taylor big fat thumpie bass ...loved it......this kids moves in good direction. for sure

Kid and Johnny Cat are awesome, but Sean Costello was the best.

Channeling Hollywood Fats. And that's the greatest compliment I can give.

Yep, but that's the exception, not the rule. All I was adding to the conversation was my observation - no disrespect intended.
I am inspired by your playing, and copped several licks from you AND JC. =)
