  • This hymn can be sung at times other than funerals. It is a song of comfort during various times that occur in the liturgical year. @JNNathan ~ I am so very sorry for your loss.

  • I'm singing this in with choir in my school's mass in 2 weeks :)

  • @wampahoth As it turned out we did have time to add it so we did & sounded great! :)

  • This was sung in a wedding mass?Isnt this a funeral hymn?

  • @JNNathan Yes, this is a funeral hymn. It was sung at my son's funeral.

  • @JNNathan Yes this is a song often sung at funerals. In a peculiar sort of way this is a funeral for the groom as he looses his freedom to marriage.

  • I happen to like OCP's music, or most of it, anyway.

  • @RobertalWilliams: I only listed this as a Catholic hymn because I've only ever heard it sung at Catholic churches. I fully understand that there are different denominations within Christianity. I am not presuming anything.

  • @Audinos: I agree some of OCP's music is not the best. There are some songs I wish the pianist at my church would stop playing. But I enjoy this one and find it comforting.

  • @Audinos David Haas is not putting words in anyone's mouth. You can find every line of this in the bible.

  • @heyheyitsdom Surely you jest!

  • @Audinos Really, look it up.

  • @Audinos You do realize that David Haas is signed with GIA? The only thing that OCP has to do with David Haas is the hymnal. Also, something that one would need to consider is this: You drop the "schmaltzy elevator-music" from Catholic mass...and go to...what? Chant? Protestant hymnody? Schmaltzy or no, you have to admit that this style of music is what has come out of the post Vatican 2 Church. So like it or not, its earned a place in tradition, and any other dislikes are purely aesthetic.

  • OK, now I'm REALLY wishing I /we had picked this one for the wedding (especially since the groom's name IS 'David Haas' (obviously not the one who wrote this but a cute coincidence).

  • @babycakes1402: I think it's beautiful. I hadn't heard it at a wedding before this one, but am glad the couple chose it. Thanks for commenting!
