The reason why Star Trek is so successful and entertaining is shown here - William Shatner and Patrick Stewart created icons with their respective characters of James T. Kirk and Jean-Luc Picard but are indeed icons themselves. I adore Star Trek in all it's incarnations but these two are always going to be my favourites - make it so!

Its true, Shatner can bring a lot of passion and emotion. Like in Star Trek The Undiscovered country after they modify the torpedo... The way Shatner sais "FIRE!!!" Is brilliant.

Stewart is a guy with class, he is actually showing deference to Shatner. The problem is, would Shatner ever bother to show anyone else the same degree of courtesy? I guess well have to wait till the new Star Trek movie comes out next month to see...hopefully.

@gulskjegg oh yes he would. He always talked about De and Leonard with great admiration. Him and Leonard are still best friends. He seemed to have problem with the "gang of four" however. He also said nothing but good things about Patrick

You know what's sad?

When Shatner wrote his autobiography, he interviewed his old supporting cast from the original Star Trek movies, and they said they actually all disliked him at the time, because he got all the best lines and bits.

They still seem to be rivals, at least him and George Takei.
