The Marvelettes Tie A String Around Your Finger

Certainly not a classic HDH sound, but nice

great early Marvelettes sound backed with primo Holland-Dozier-Holland production. Gladys is perfection and it's nice to hear her on a slow ballad. One of the most outstanding things here is how you can clearly hear Katherine, Georgeanna and Wanda out front while the Andantes add "color" by doing the ooohs and ahhhs in the background. But notice how the Marvelettes come in at around 1:30 on the "ahhhs" and pretty much bury the Andantes' vocals. I just love that part so much!

@tomovox P.S. that's not meant as a slight to the Andantes- I just love that this is one of those rare occasions where a a track wasn't mixed so much so as to remove a nice moment of absolute soulful rawness.
