Coaching is clearly the problem: both in recruiting and x's/o's. First, a guy who is listed as a 4-star only speaks to his talent. It doesn't say if he's a good student, has legal issues, etc. FSU has had MORE than its fair share of attrition because they aren't getting the highly rated recruits who are also good bets to stay in school. They've had to "settle" on guys who in the 90's they wouldn't have even recruited. In college it's all about coaching...period.

So yes, on paper the classes look highly rated but the team that actually plays isn't nearly that talented. That's said, yes the coaching is a mess and has to be fixed. FSU is a terrible team.

You haven't been following FSU. FSU has been starting walkons at various points this year. There are only 74 scholarship players (10 short of the limit even with the NCAA penalties.)

Also those look like Rival's rankings. If you checkout Scout you'll see they are no where near as fond of FSU's recruits.

And if you actually look who is on the team (I have) you'll see an unusually high number of those recruits never qualified, transfered, or were kicked.

I'd like to add too, every school does lose players. However, FSU has had it a little worse than average due to coaching changes and just taking too many risks questionable qualifiers and trouble makers.
