We all have the exact same rights! We can each marry 1 person of the opposite gender. The basic human right is not to marry whatever, whomover or how many of what and whomever you want--that has never been a basic human right. Hangout with whomever you want.
Marriage serves an important role in society that is undermined by any/all abuses of it (breaches of contract)-- be they infidelity-, neglect- or gender-related.
the people have spokens yes on 8 americans let's stop them and keep it that way and cut that bullshit out saying it's a human rights things and civil rights wow gays not a right it's a choose.. SO WHAT IF I GET HATTING ON I DON'T CARE IT'S MY RIGHT TO SPEAK i am loving that this pass keep it up all right....
i don't know why everyone keeps quoting the bible. don't forget that America has freedom of religion. if everyone is following every detail of the bible, does this mean we should be going back to slavery? the bible does talk about that, and does not say anything about it being wrong.
also, i agree with moremi. there are some that find polygamy ok, but we do not ALL follow the morman faith. marriages are arranged by families, does that mean we should ALL follow that?
Marriage started with God when he created Adam and Eve, so therefor its correct to quote out of the Bible. Marriage started as a religious ceremony. This Country was built upon Christian Beliefs. Dont be intolerant of our Christian Beliefs, Don't Change our right to freedom of Religion. There is NO discrimination here, Domestic partnership has the same rights as married couples. Enough is Enough!
Memo to the first sign maker: Use proper english to get your point across. Your sign should read: "Why do you get more rights than I" The first rule of political unrest should be get your signs right.
The first person object of the predicate is correctly posited as "me." The use of "I" is also correct, because "I" is a subject and, in this case, assumes the unwritten "do" as the verb. So, either way, it is correct.
I'm saddened that a vote means nothing to some people. This is not a slam on gay rights. This is a protection of straight rights. I am a person who appreciates everyone no matter what their partner preference, but I don't feel my church should throw out it's beliefs because it's they are trying to be "politically correct". I wish only the best for those who are hurting and to know that we support you in your decisions, but sanctity of traditional marriage needs protection
When California recognizes marriage for all it will do NOTHING to your church. NOTHING. You can go on discriminating as you see fit but it is contrary to the spirit of this country to offer legal benefits to some and not others. Your church can continue defining its own marriage rites as narrowly as you see fit. The 4 judges in SF were doing their sworn duty by protecting the legal rights of a minority from the voting power of the majority. That is the ideal on which this country was founded.
I suppose you wouldn't have a problem with me marrying my 1st cousin, sister, or marrying two woman. Why not??? I am in love with them. You have the same rights I do.... I being a man can't marry anyone I want to. I can't marry another man, two woman(which sounds like alot of fun), sister or mother. The people have spoken and still believe that marriage is sacred and is reserved as a sacred instituation exclusively for one man and one woman.
you do realize that "traditional" marriage, in the bible and throughout a great deal of human history, was a. between a man and multiple women, b. arranged by families rather than the individuals concerned, and c. about property more than love. Remind me why we want to "protect" that tradition?
Hitler and Obama share the same view on "Gay Marriage", they both oppose it!

Am I misinformed? I could have swore that the legal rights are already in place.
