Two children per couple actually will decrease the population because there are deaths to disease, infertility, accidents and other issues. For growth at all you need at least more than two per couple.

I dont think we will ever run out of people. Negative population growth in develped countries means more job opportunities for those in under developed countries. this could improve overall standare of living because less people are competing for the same resources. Also if we have the resources to support current population we have them for a smaller population no matter there age. We simply have to come up with a better system for distributing those resources.
