I think that INXS' last three albums were I think a lot more darker than their eighties work and X album. Especially considering that some of the lyrics reflect on some of the turmoil and personal problems in Michael Hutchence life. I think it was a good thing that writing these albums was a good oppurtunity to get his problems out into the open.
@pixargod Most of the songs were written in the early '80s. When I started writing songs for them, the songs did become darker and the subject as well. In Australia before I met INXS they had been known as a "Pop" band and this is something I wanted to change. Granted, the "Pop" title did suit them as they were a bunch of happy-go-lucky type guys with a great sense of humor. I knew that if INXS wanted to make it in America though this would have to change.
Saw these on the "Kick" tour '88,they were awesome and in tune unlike todays shit like Arcade Fire and Mumford and Sons!and they pick up awards! Not many of todays big names are any good live except The Verve and Muse.

Deep and dark that's how I hear his voice. Just very dark and yet sweet at the same time. Love you Michael.

Michaels voice sounded as fine tuned as ever, even with so much turmoil in his life, his "craft" was still incredible. Great video tribute!
