nah he didnt break it, his finger slipped off it a little. there are other parts after where hes still playing on the B string, and besides if youve ever broken a string while playing you know it makes a very distinctive sound through the amp.
Yeah....and the very distinctive sound through the amp is not heard here becuse this is a RAMSTERD DVD and Jimmy cuted the sound out while making it (The DVD).
By the way I have the unramsterd version on my computer and I am really sorry to tell you that he did break a string here.
If you have the DVD then watch it on a TV and you'll see. :)
Does anyone know if there is somewere a mp3 audio from the DVD to Download, cuse I'd kill to get this quality of the song along all the other ones on this DVD into my iPod.
Maybe its me, but I've watched this a few times now, and every time I hear a different amazing Jimmy Page solo. For some reason it sounds different almost every time.
does anybody know the full set list of earls court? if jimmy broke a sting in stairway, it would be interesting, what guitar he used after this performance :D
If you notice at the end of the solo he is playing far down on his neck of his guitar when in the unedited version he was actually playing an octave lower (Which is why he was so low on his guitar, but they edited it and put it up an octave on the DVD).
he probably got a roadie to re-string the guitar backstage. i believe stairway to heaven was the last song at this show before the encores and none of the encores were to be palyed on a double neck
I compared those two appearances in 1973 and 1975 by playing them at the same time together ;) amazing, how plant could manage, to sing the vocals nearly at the same time in both versions, while pages guitar play sounds not that good. Earls court is much faster than msg ^^ stupid, but interesting^^

I never got why this Stairway is renowned as the best one. It's simply not! Page can do much better than that on the solo. Take Madison Square Garden for example. Much better.
i think its kinda funny but the very first time led zeppelin ever performed this song no one in the audience liked it because it was such a long song. boy hasnt that changed.
And if they were satanists, then who would give a fuck. A true song wouldnt care, if this song was about satan. it's the most beautiful song ever written. and Led Zeppelin is the greatest band EVER!!!
ya idk why people make a big deal like they think the song is about the devil and stuff i mean first off its just a song there are lots of songs about the devil calm down and 2nd according to robert plant he didnt even know wat he was writing he just wrote it and this awesome song is wat it amounted to
I feel bad for my generation and the ones after it. They are missing out on real music like this. They watch MTV and see all that crap and think that's what good music is.
No guitarist in one of these "bands" deserves to even be in the same room with jimmy page, let alone be compared to him...
it could be a christian song but then again led zeppelin were'nt christians, people say they sold there soul to the devil but idk, and if you listen to this song backwards it shows you but then again it might of been a coincidence
It's classic ignorance of great artists because of the early "mop-top" image and early soppy pop songs that they almost instantly grew out of etc... it really boggles the mind when people such as ajm48786 call them a "1960s version of N Sync", which is really like calling the sun a wet match-stick.
Funny, because if Zeppelin could hear those who say "Zepplin rules, but the Beatles are shit!", they'd probably think those people were dick heads.
Agreed, best I've seen of this solo lives. I am against drugs/alcohol abuse, but let's face it, practically all bands of that era did it. This did not stop LZ from being the best group ever though. HOWEVER, future abuse did hurt them, notice how thier last 2 albums are so much worse than the rest with a couple of exceptions? Heroin etc. is to blame for that. Early Days- Some drugs=yes.
latter days= career, writing and performances crippled with drug abuse.I love this though, best StH solo live
Idk man about the last two albums, I agree with you on the fact that In Through the Out Door was terrible, but Page is super proud of his work on Presence, especially the solo on Achilles Last Stand. His creation of that guitar army is insane on that track.
i happen to love In Thru the Out Door because it was different. they let John Paul Jones compose it and i thought it was very unique.
and Coda was just leftover songs, and i thought that maybe 1 or 2 of their songs really didn't belong, but people have such a high standard for Zeppelin, that one track they dont like they just have to hate the whole band... not every band can write as good material that everybody likes...
They didn't "Let" John Paul Jones compose it, Jimmy Page was off with his heroin addiction and Bonham had his battles, so JPJ was the one that took charge, Page would com ein on his own and put in the guitar.
