And they didnt bring this up earlier when kinect came out why? well then again i have heard a million law suits none that go anywhere beyond threats with MS they will find a loophole like those stopped hitched massage signs near where i live. besides who says they can't create a motion sensor because someone else came with another one similar? Thats like saying a company invents the TV and no one else can sell it there for monopolising it. All well nothing is gonna happen pretty much anyways.

Actually Microsoft got its start as a software developer for Apple. Apple was primarily a hardware company, Microsoft wrote programs for Apple. The OS Windows wasn't anything untill early 90's. Also, Microsoft was sued for monopoly because they included a browser, IE, with Windows. Honestly, it was a stupid case. Why wouldn't you expect a OS to come with a browser? Windows 7 looks nothing like OSX by the way, and Apple has stolen a lot from Microsoft actually.

However based on the lawsuit description the group suing MS sounds like they are patent trolling/extorting It sounds like they are placing patents on developing & potential tech before the people develop it with no intent on developing said patents in order to sue the company/s developing the tech once it is used or released for breaking their patents as a way of extorting money from them.

Laron have you tried Firefox as a browser? If you load up the noscript addon (easy install - painless), it will deny all scripts by default when you visit a site. It is a bit more secure than IE.

You really should switch to Firefox. One of the great add-ons is adblockplus, which literally allows you to block anything on any webpage (not just ads). So if you're not careful, you can end up blocking the videos on youtube, lol. But seriously, you should consider Firefox.

Actually Laron there was competition when Window first started. That company was Commodore, makers of the Commodore 64 which later got a OS called GEOS and then later the Amiga which was far superior to both PC and Mac's at the time. Microsoft saw the Amiga as a huge,huge threat and PAYED business to use their products, thus shutting Commodore out (that and Commodore after replacing Traimel was mismanaged and money embezzled from the company by top execs didn't help)

Microsoft settled out of court, and that's what they'll do with Kinnect.

Sony took it to court and lost.

My main concern is, when Microsoft kicks the bucket... wtf are we going to do? There are millions of companies that use windows for their businesses and almost all of the PC gaming industry is designed for windows. Everything will have to swap over to linux or Apple. Not good.

Just had a look on the patents involved and it does look like Microsoft will lose money over kinect (never a bad thing) of course I wonder what scheme MS would pull to get out of it.

I'm also suprised at the amount of specifics a patent can cover, sounds like no sport-based or educational game with movement can ever be made by any other company (from what I gathered from research). Good thing I don't buy those sortsa games or like motion gaming then.

If the patent case holds true that they did infringe on their design which I am skeptical at this point due to legal issues..it could potentially drop some stock prices if it goes against them.
