  • Capt. Lou was one of the few celecrities I've met. I was working at a restaurant and my manager came back and said "Capt. Lou Albano is at the bar." So I go out to the bar, and he proceeds to look up at the TV and says "I bet it's been a while since you've seen me on there". He then proceeded to tell me about the movie "Man in the Moon" before it came out. He signed 8x10 photos for everyone, and was a really cool guy. God bless and R.I.P.

  • DEAR GOD GIVE US BACK CAPTAIN LOU ALBANO IN RETURN WILL GIVE U JOHN LAURINAITIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • we miss you captain lou mario albano

  • It's funny that as Italian as he was (due to his more famous, colorful rock n wrestling look), you wouldn't think of him as a Mafia-type wrestler a half of The Sicilians. Anyone know if he's related to the guys that run Albano Bros., an oil delivery company out in Mt. Vernon, NY? My gf whose from the same town as Lou (Carmel, NY) said he was a perv, who installed cameras in the ladies toilets at some business he owned???

  • @peterp21 Re: my perv comment, I never heard anything to confirm that accusation, but my gf is no wrestling fan and brought that up out of the blue (i.e., Lou was no household name to her), so I'm guessing it was at least the local gossip.

  • Lou Albano = Past powah 8'D

    RIP

  • he was my granpas cousins

  • Lou Albano was the real Mario!!!

Bob Hopkins was only a ,,Action-Movie Mario" but the one and only

  • "Mario's a nut!"

  • RIP Cap't Lou---you were exactly what wrestling is, an entertainer. You were funny, made us mad, made us laugh, you were just the perfect manager and I'll remember all those great times at the Mid Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie-once a mainstay for the WWF[E] back in the day. I remember meeting him before the event, such a nice friendly man, just too great

  • Sweet sweet guy.

  • One thing about life: regardless of how tough and sucessful your life is, facing death is undefeatable...

Facing a dying person is something I CAN NEVER able to do!!!

  • R.I.P. Captain Lou and thank you for the memories.

  • RIP CAPTAIN you are one of the best managers of all time , simply amazing!!!!!!!

  • Man he looks so old and weak in this picture. It's sad because you always saw Capitain Lou strong, energetic and youthful. Wow...RIP Capt. Lou!

  • He sounds old here in this footage too. But in 2007 he was 74. The age finally caught up with him by this time I guess.

    RIP Captain Lou.

  • @MrDrProfessorJrMD

Yeah. I was just reminiscing over his appearance on the Morton Downey Jr. show in 1988 when he was in his 50s. Big difference in life and age, as we all can see lol.

  • You know what's funny? Captain Lou was Super Mario and Morton Koopa, Jr. from Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Yoshi's Safari, Mario is Missing, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii was named after Morton Downey, Jr.

  • There will be no person like him again .......what a class act captain lou was .....you will always be remembered captain lou....r.i.p

  • r.i.p. Lou!

  • i can't believe captain lou is gone R.I.P. LOU ALBANO !!!

  • Love Lou and will miss him !

He wasn't the first wrestler in movies though. Prof. Tanaka was in one of the James Bond movies from the early 70's, forget the name, and I'm sure there have been others.

  • @86lenny Yes, there are others. There's a clip of Andre the Giant from 1967 here on youtube in some French movie.

  • @86lenny Actually that was Tosh togo that played Oddjob in James Bond movie Goldfinger.

  • @Lfdjake91 Toru Tanaka was in one of the early Bond movies.

  • @86lenny Umm, no he wasn't. Goldfinger was only the 3rd 007 movie and was released in 1964. Prof. Tanaka didn't even start wrestling untill 1967.

  • @Lfdjake91Umm, get your facts straight dude, he was in a Bond movie.

  • @86lenny Ok, which one? Since you have your facts straight you should have no problem naming it.

  • @86lenny Hey, still waiting on you to tell me which bond movie Tanaka was in??

  • @Lfdjake91 goldfinger..

  • @dogdoom Sorry, once again it was Harold Sakada/Tosh Togo who played Oddjob in Goldfinger not Prof. Tanaka.

  • @86lenny Still waiting!!!!!! zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • I really miss Captain Lou. When I think of Captain Lou growing up as a kid watching wrestling, I remember a time when wrestling had class. I'll always remember his trademark rubber bands and his open shirt.

  • Several years ago, I ran into Lou Albano on Madison Ave, in NYC; he was the same Capt Lou as I watched on tv for years. He shook my hand and said "How are you brother" RIP Captain.

  • R.I.P. Lou do the Mario in heaven for us up There. swing your arms from side to side

  • You'll be missed man...

  • Oh boy does he bring back some good memories I remember him from the late 70""s when wrestling wasnt half as popular as it is now,..then he did the Cyndi Lauper video ! ! R.I.P. Lou

  • R.I.P.

  • Godspeed Lou!

  • RIP Captain Lou Albano

  • Grande Lou Albano!!!!!!

  • I think it was deplorable the way the man giving the interview slapped Mr Albano when he didn't respond quick enough....30 years ago Mr. Albano would have probably used an entire 8 piece bucket of fried chicken and utlized each respective piece as its own weapon-for example a thigh would be used to scrape the announcers flesh off while a breast would be used to tear out his nostrils and a leg could be used to ram down his throat till the punks face turns purple.

I'm so sad cause he slapped lou

  • damn mario got old. he has to shave, then he could play mario again.

  • he seems like a good guy. certainly knew how to talk/cut a promo. very interesting

  • I wish Captain Lou is young again,I will always see him as Mario, and one of the worlds greatest comedions off all time

  • Ill always see him more as Mario rather then Capn Lou.

  • Same

  • @damieandark I agree me and my mom we used to watch him wrestle but like you said he left an imprint he will always be Super Mario!!! Started to honor him has Mario by watching the Super Mario Bros Super Show! every year I wanted to get my DVD Singed by Him =( but never had the chance I remember reading that the SMBSS was gonna be released but I never stood on top of it to find out what day i'm so pissed becuz on the DVD theres other people getting there dvd Singed I went to pay respect

  • @damieandark I went to the cementary where he was buried at it made me sad but Happy I was able to pay my respects.

  • Im glad he's ok. Hard to find interviews of this guy. I still remember when he managed the Moondogs. One of those guys died a few years back.

  • its good to see him not screaming his head off.

  • It is great seeing Captain Lou Albano, I grew up watching him. I remember most of the tag teams that he had managed. It is too bad the Grand Wizard is dead and "Classy" Freddie Blassie, At least the Captain is still with us.

  • Super Mario!!

  • @vgjr300 I had No idea he had anything to do with super Mario. So all those games for all these years is money in his pocket? He must be worth a Billion!

  • i'd pay big bucks to read his autobiography

  • Lou for WWE Hall Of Fame.

  • He's already in man!

  • yeeee!!!

  • Great seeing him. He looks well. He was always fun to watch, even though he was a heel. God love him.

  • MARIO!

  • The original bad ass.

  • Agreed!

  • I will never forget the ass because he punched me in the face when I was a boy asking him to sign my picture of him. I forgave him in years, but I never forgot what the nut was capable of.

  • How old were you and why do you think he did it?

  • I only wanted to know why he would be such a prick is it unprovoked. if you can put up with my "stupid' questions furthermore, can you share with us what arena?

  • Still remember him in Cyndi Lauper video...GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN. Man I'm getting old. lol

  • I didn't even recognize him at first! It's to see that he's still around.

  • The original Mario!

  • Woah when did he revoice Mario? :O

  • very cool

  • He still looks good

  • Is he in the Hall of Fame yet? He should be.

  • i meet you man twice as a kid you kick ass! mikeysdevilish out of dagsboro DE .... yeah and that other guys right you were the shit as mario and should have done the movie maybe then it wouldn't have suxed ass lol

  • There will never be such great wrestlers like this man. Along with rowdy roddy, hulk, junkyard, bret, the bossman, Sgt slaughter and wendy.

  • I love u,Capt.Lou!! and as also Mario from Super Mario Bros.Super Show.
