haha first of all its a honda vs a yamaha duh the honda wins and for all you 2strokes riders whos been getting high of ur own exhaust you should check out the rpm ranges between a crf250r and a yz 125 you would be surprised that the forstroke beats it in rpm and hp witch in that case the 125 is really closer to a crf150r than a 250f and a 250f to a 250 2stroke and a 450f to a 500 if you can find one, dont get me wrong 2strokes are still verry fast bikes but im affraid that 4f are faster now aday
It's the rider not the bike a 125 can beat a 250f but you put a good rider on a 250f and an ok rider on a 125 obviously the 250f will win it's not the bike it's the skill of the rider
k so my buddy just got a 06 crf 250, and ive been on my 02 rm 125 now for a while, he isnt as experienced as i am, and i was jw who u guys thot would win on a track that a mix between mx and sx, the track is King City in Illinois if any of u no that track... but even if he beats me, il just switch to my dads crf 450 and whoop his ass XD
@benson785 I own and 02rm250 and 06crf250, about to sell the Crf, but when I rode the Crf, I found it was a bit faster than my friends 06 yz125, I love two strokes but in my situation the Crf won by about a bike length every time. Crf is stock with pro moto endcaps, yz125 is stock with fmf turbine core. We both rode both bikes and the Crf pulled just a bit more. Course now you can race 250 2t with 250 4t which is hilarious we all know the 2010 ktm or yamaha 2t will destroy any 250f

They arnt giving 4 strokes more power they are smoothing it out they have efi and companies are aiming for strong bottom mid and top not raw power. A 2002 crf450 had 50bhp and a 2010 crf450 has 47bhp
I went ridding with a friend yesterday that has a YZ125 (i have a CRF250X) and it was about the same for power (on the flat at least) but he did beat me for sound making :) i say it depends more on the rider then the machine at this point. Choose the one you like and enjoy !

Quite honestly, i'm so sick of the endless arguments all over the place about what's better: 4-strokes or 2-strokes. Here's the truth wether anyone likes it or not. 2-strokes can be insanely fast and have decent pick-up, but they are almost completely obsolete. The direct injected 2 strokes being made by Evinrude are more environmentally friendly than the new 4 strokes...they produce more power, use less fuel and produce less emissions than any 4 stroke out. Yamaha has been talking about applying this technology to future models. So I think obsolete is the wrong term to use. What you meant was carburetors are obsolete.

@DirtyAssassin1 4-strokes are pretty good with reliability and usually require less maintenance if you're not riding competitively. They are reliable and have much better power than 2-strokes. 2-strokes can be fast as shit, but they are pretty much obsolete with all these new incredibly engineered 4-strokes.

4 strokes have way more torque which means it can started in like 5th gear and you can ride slow in 5th.. a 2 stroke has to be started in either neutral-1st and it still bogs down because it has less torque.. So that's why the 4 stroke won.
Now how about a race between a CRF250 and a CR250? Which one would win,
the 2 stroke 250 of course. This allowing 250cc 4 strokes to race against 125cc 2 strokes is crap. The only way to make the 4 stroke beat the 2 is to have 1005 power CC. That's bullshit.
crf250 would win.. I ride 2 strokes.. don't get me wrong.. But I thought the same thing.. 2 strokes have much more top end, there faster, lighter, and quicker. 4 strokes have MUCH more torque, meaning you could have the fucking bike in 4th gear and start off... and you could go soo slow in that bike
In a race between a CR250 and a CRF250 the 2 stroke would win. The 2 stroke produces way more power than the 4 stroke. That is why 2 stroke 250ies and 4 stroke 450ies are in the same class and 2 stroke 125's and 4 stroke 250ies are in the same class.
A 4 stroke that is the same size a a 2 stroke can never win against the 2. Of course you have to be able to ride to ride a 2 stroke whereas anyone, even my 6 old can ride a 4 stroke.
in addition when 2 strokes and 4 strokes had to have the same size engines 4 strokes never one in any except trials. Honda spent hundreds of millions of dollars trying to make 500cc 4 strokes competitive in GP500 racing (when 2 strokes & 4's had to have the same size engines) They never managed it and after many wasted years moved over to the NSR500 2 strokes and started winning almost right away. From the early 70ies until 2001 (when 4T's had to be the same size they won nothing)
You will not find one 4 stroke victory in GP or motocross racing from 1971 through to 2001. That's when they changed the rules of racing allowing 4 strokes to have almost twice,or the case of super lights, formally known as 125 class, completely twice the engine capacity that the 4 strokes started winning.
The GP500 bikes (all 2 strokes) were putting down over 200hp, you will never ever find a 500cc 4 stroke that can make that kind of power. The 4T's they were racing against after 2001 were 990
990cc, which was brought down to 800cc a few years ago. If you know how a 2 stroke engine functions compared to how a 4 sroke functions, you would know that the 2 strokes have twice as many power strokes as the 4. Every time the 2 stroke's piston is going down it is being pushed down by an explosion, it's every other time with a 4 stroke. Now 2's are less efficient so it doesn't = a 200% power advantage, but rather about a 25 to 50% advantage for the same size engine.

haha first of all its a honda vs a yamaha duh the honda wins and for all you 2strokes riders whos been getting high of ur own exhaust you should check out the rpm ranges between a crf250r and a yz 125 you would be surprised that the forstroke beats it in rpm and hp witch in that case the 125 is really closer to a crf150r than a 250f and a 250f to a 250 2stroke and a 450f to a 500 if you can find one, dont get me wrong 2strokes are still verry fast bikes but im affraid that 4f are faster now aday

k so my buddy just got a 06 crf 250, and ive been on my 02 rm 125 now for a while, he isnt as experienced as i am, and i was jw who u guys thot would win on a track that a mix between mx and sx, the track is King City in Illinois if any of u no that track... but even if he beats me, il just switch to my dads crf 450 and whoop his ass XD

@benson785 I own and 02rm250 and 06crf250, about to sell the Crf, but when I rode the Crf, I found it was a bit faster than my friends 06 yz125, I love two strokes but in my situation the Crf won by about a bike length every time. Crf is stock with pro moto endcaps, yz125 is stock with fmf turbine core. We both rode both bikes and the Crf pulled just a bit more. Course now you can race 250 2t with 250 4t which is hilarious we all know the 2010 ktm or yamaha 2t will destroy any 250f

If you really think about it, 2 strokes have more power than 4 strokes. 250 f vs a 250 2 stroke race, the 250 2 stroke would win, racing a 450f against a 250 2 stroke isnt actually fair since the 250 2stroke only has 250 cc and a 450f has 450cc. Thants what i think, 2 strokes have more power!

They arnt giving 4 strokes more power they are smoothing it out they have efi and companies are aiming for strong bottom mid and top not raw power. A 2002 crf450 had 50bhp and a 2010 crf450 has 47bhp

I went ridding with a friend yesterday that has a YZ125 (i have a CRF250X) and it was about the same for power (on the flat at least) but he did beat me for sound making :) i say it depends more on the rider then the machine at this point. Choose the one you like and enjoy !

Quite honestly, i'm so sick of the endless arguments all over the place about what's better: 4-strokes or 2-strokes. Here's the truth wether anyone likes it or not. 2-strokes can be insanely fast and have decent pick-up, but they are almost completely obsolete. The way they are engineering the new 4-strokes, 2-strokes wont have anything on them anymore. 4-strokes already have much more power, their speeds are pretty much matched now, and they keep getting better and easier to handle.

The direct injected 2 strokes being made by Evinrude are more environmentally friendly than the new 4 strokes...they produce more power, use less fuel and produce less emissions than any 4 stroke out. Yamaha has been talking about applying this technology to future models. So I think obsolete is the wrong term to use. What you meant was carburetors are obsolete.

They are reliable and have much better power than 2-strokes. 2-strokes can be fast as shit, but they are pretty much obsolete with all these new incredibly engineered 4-strokes.

4 strokes have way more torque which means it can started in like 5th gear and you can ride slow in 5th.. a 2 stroke has to be started in either neutral-1st and it still bogs down because it has less torque.. So that's why the 4 stroke won.

In a race between a CR250 and a CRF250 the 2 stroke would win. The 2 stroke produces way more power than the 4 stroke. That is why 2 stroke 250ies and 4 stroke 450ies are in the same class and 2 stroke 125's and 4 stroke 250ies are in the same class.
A 4 stroke that is the same size a a 2 stroke can never win against the 2. Of course you have to be able to ride to ride a 2 stroke whereas anyone, even my 6 old can ride a 4 stroke.

in addition when 2 strokes and 4 strokes had to have the same size engines 4 strokes never one in any except trials. Honda spent hundreds of millions of dollars trying to make 500cc 4 strokes competitive in GP500 racing (when 2 strokes & 4's had to have the same size engines) They never managed it and after many wasted years moved over to the NSR500 2 strokes and started winning almost right away. From the early 70ies until 2001 (when 4T's had to be the same size they won nothing)

You will not find one 4 stroke victory in GP or motocross racing from 1971 through to 2001. That's when they changed the rules of racing allowing 4 strokes to have almost twice,or the case of super lights, formally known as 125 class, completely twice the engine capacity that the 4 strokes started winning.
The GP500 bikes (all 2 strokes) were putting down over 200hp, you will never ever find a 500cc 4 stroke that can make that kind of power. The 4T's they were racing against after 2001 were 990

990cc, which was brought down to 800cc a few years ago. If you know how a 2 stroke engine functions compared to how a 4 sroke functions, you would know that the 2 strokes have twice as many power strokes as the 4. Every time the 2 stroke's piston is going down it is being pushed down by an explosion, it's every other time with a 4 stroke. Now 2's are less efficient so it doesn't = a 200% power advantage, but rather about a 25 to 50% advantage for the same size engine.

I'm not lying, the dyno might be. But the same dyno measured 28hp from a Husqvarna 125sms that is unrestricted. And that is believable for a mildly tuned 2-stroke :)
Oh and an Aprilia rs125 with little mods does 23nm@9000rpm and 33rwhp, almost the torque of a 250cc 4-joke ;) and 1hp less than a honda crf 250
