Jane was a talented, independent individual with a life of her own. She and Paul wouldn't have made the relationship last, for like the rest of the boys, he needed someone to be constantly there for him. In that respect Linda suited him better, besides, the Beatles were not jetting around so much anymore bythe time he'd met Linda so timing was also a factor.
Paul didn't mess up when he lost Jane. They were a cute couple, but so different. They would argue immensely about things as little as a window being opened or closed. I think Linda was better, because I have seen interviews with Paul and he remembers every aspect of Linda when they first met and whenever at the Sgt. Pepper's shoot, they way she held the camera, and her hands and hair. He never cheated on her, and if he REALLY loved Jane, he wouldn't have on her. Linda and Paul's (cont.)
@itsbridgetlogann love lasted for such a long time, until mother nature forced it to end, and you could tell he was such a happier person with her by his side, along with Heather. She inspired songs too, such as Maybe I'm Amazed, and others. And for those of you saying Jane and Paul looked more in love? I'd like you to watch Linda and Paul's wedding, plus countless pictures of them. why should it be a competition anyway? He was very much madly in love with Linda, you can't deny that.
@Englishlass You say that to everything I post about her, and it's annoying. My grandmother met her, and she was a very caring and sweet girl. I am sorry that you would rather have Jane with Paul, but that's too bad.
Jane Asher was a whole lot prettier than Linda or Heather. But here's the point that I want to make in reference to the "Paul is Dead" comments. Look at his differing hight. In some photos, he's about three inches taller. In other shots, he's about eight inches taller. Is this the same Paul?
Did anyone read the story that came out about 3 years ago, in the daily mail newspaper. It said that Yoko and Paul had a one night stand, this was before Yoko met John Lennon. Did any one read that story, and it is sadly true that he used to cheat on Linda.
And Jane Asher? Lovely, lovely lady. So very beautiful and a great actress. There's a film in which she starred, post relationship with Paul, entitled, "Deep End". It was released in 1970. Can probably be found out here on youtube.
to all of you saying that paul cheating on linda, your crazyyy!!! especially when they were on tour with wings! linda was with him 24/7 so theres no way, and they had their kids around all the time! when paul married linda he grew up and even if he had the opportunity im sure he wouldnt have cheated on her because he loved her so much. that was "his baby".
the last gasp of real fashion, those years. clothes are still great today, but in those days, it was haircut and then some, plus the right stocking and right shoes for the outfit.
ok, seriously people...did you ever consider that they all loved every girl they were with? john has said on many occasions that he loved cynthia, paul loved jane ringo loved maureen and george loved pattie, but things happened, people cheated, they grew apart...its life, they all found that one special person who they would stay with for the rest of their lives. you dont condemn you parents for gfs and bfs they had before they met your other paret do you?
@pinkstarlite09 yea? that doesnt mean they lied about everything. and why would they purposefully pick people they didnt like then stay with them for so long? especially since they were trying to seem single to the public. what would be the point of having any girlfriends then?

Why poor Linda? He was great husband with Linda and he never cheated.
Ok he did cheat alot and that is definetly wrong and I'm not saying it is right in any way but he and Jane didn't get along and I guess he was just stupid for staying in that relationship if he wasn't happy. But anyway why poor Linda?
I read that he was kind of interested on his exgirlfriend Maggie McGivern when we was in WINGS (maggie was dating his drummer or someone in the group) and that he was flirting with her so..
@ilovekirkir I didn't "make it up". I read it on the internet in a couple of different places and I tend to belive it since Paul was the type of man that couldn't be satisfied with one woman. John Lennon desribed Paul as a sexual gladiator. I read that he had mistresses and that Linda put up with it. Also, that he would have woman in hotel rooms while Wings was touring waiting for him.
@annaliese9 I mean, after all, he's still human, and we know Paul very much, he's kind of a play boy, I mean even today how many girlfriends does he have had! and still claimming that he LOVES linda, well sure he does, but come on! I'm pretty sure he did cheated on her
If you like Linda or Jane (or someone else) i hope we can agree that Jane was (and still is a class lady) she has never talked about her and Paul I:E Never sold her story. Respect
I don't hate Linda but Paul married her really quick after he broke up with Jane. I mean Jane and Paul were together years and then he marries Linda after a couple of months? Paul also cheated on Jane when they were engaged.
Paul married Linda because she got pregnant, & that's what "good Northern men" did back then. Same thing happened with John & Cynthia, and Ringo & Maureen. George was the only Beatle that married his girlfriend without her being pregnant. Also, Paul was a notorious womanizer who cheated on Jane whenever she was acting. She caught him in bed with Francie Schwartz, a groupie he had an affair with behind Jane's back.

@Sandrusom okay that may be true with the other beatles but thats not true with paul and linda. paul actually loved linda he didnt just marry her cause she was pregnant. paul was inlove with linda till the very last day she died & im sure he still loves her. if only married her bc she was pregnant they wouldnt have had more kids! im just sayin

I believe that in every life, you are granted multiple loves, but there are 2 that really stand out. One is the one you adore, and they drive you crazy. You live for them, breathe for them, but you can never make it work. It's just as true as a true love. The other is a warm glow that makes you feel good and safe no matter what you do. It's not an adventure, it's bliss. That's what I think Linda was.
They are both equally beautiful and wonderful women. Paul was very lucky, as were they.

According to Cynthia Lennon, McCartney was "as proud as a peacock" to have Jane as a girlfriend,[7] and saw her as "a great prize."[8] Marianne Faithfull remembered McCartney and Asher "never getting on very well," and described one evening at Cavendish Avenue when McCartney wanted a window to be open and Asher wanted it shut. McCartney did not stop having one-night stands with other women during his time with Asher, because he felt that since they were not married, it was allowed.[10]

"I've Just Seen a Face" is a song by The Beatles. It appears on their 1965 UK album Help!. But in the United States, this song, along with "It's Only Love", first appeared on the Capitol version of the Rubber Soul album.
"I've Just Seen a Face" was written by Paul McCartney[1][2] (credited to Lennon-McCartney), and features McCartney on vocals. Before its release, the song was briefly titled "Aunty Gin's Theme," after his father's youngest sister, because it was one of her favorites.[3][4]

Jin, who was essentially McCartney's mother figure after his mother, Mary, died in 1956, was quite beloved to Paul; he also name checks her in Wings' 1976 smash "Let 'Em In." Producer George Martin named his orchestral instrumental version of this song "Auntie Gin's Theme" in honor of its original title.
He was already living with Jane and composed it as a blues/country experiment. He was probably thinking of some other girls face because he cheated on Jane a lot

so sotrue and no-one can change that. He still writes songs for her and dedicates his most beautiful song for her at his ocncerts, the last being in April this year, My Love. He also loves Maybe I'm Amazed which he wrote for her while taking a picture of her and Heather before they married. It's been 11 years an dquote from Paul, "I stil wake every morning with some sadness since linda died. No woman will be as good for him as she was. So believe it Jane lovers

Never in a million years. If that were the case then nothing would have kept them apart. Paul said that while they had a loving relationship something was not right which is why he kept cheating on her. He never cheated on Linda. Why would he still dedicate My Love to Linda as he did at his concert in April this year. He said in an interview he wakes up saddened every morning since Linda died and that is now 11 years ago.

pt 2.. I really liked Jane back in the 60's but could see the huge diffeence when he met Linda. Just browse through the many pictures of them and you will see how he alwyas held her close to him. He wanted her in Wings but she didn't want to do it at first. She always said she could not sing or play but obviously such a talented man as Paul is would not compromise his music by having someone he didn't have faith in.

pt 3.. She was his wife, lover, soul mate and best friend for over 30 years. At any time he could have left her. Jane was a career girl but she said she would give it up if it meant being away from Paul and she wanted children with him, a boy and then a girl. It was never meant to be and everyone ended up happy. Jane is still very happily married and I still like her.
@MrsChristopherAsher I disagree. Paul and Linda looked in love in every picture Ive ever seen of them. that aside though, they may have been in love, but Jane wanted to marry him. HE cheated on her. He would have still married her, but she didn't want someone who would cheat when she went on vacation.

I watch and read about Paul closely on the macca report and I don't think Nancy is right for him. She says she likes to be around the "right" people. Nanncy wants fame.I truly wished that he would marry Jane now. I never said I did not like Jane but Jane would be the perfect partner for him now if only she wasn't still happily married. She has great qualities as I have always known (I loved Linda much more) but Jane would be the one who would be perfect for Paul.

I still see people believe Paul really loved Jane deep down. Other way around. She said she would give up everything for Paul. Recent concert 17th April, Paul said on stage how hard this day was due to Linda's death 11 years ago and went on to tell the audience he was singing My Love which he wrote for her. He also sang The Long and Winding Road for her. He will only ever truly deeply love Linda so get over yourselves and Jane. At least Jane doesn't go on.

He told an interviewer recently that since Linda died he wakes every morning with a sadness that she is not there with him. Thank God he cheated on Jane and she caught him. He would have left her anyway because he always said it just wasn't right despite the fact that he loved Jane. Too young and they were just NOT meant to be
Jane went to Bristal for a day and when she came home it was in the night, thats where she found Paul in bed with another woman named Francie Schwartz. As soon as she seen this she just stormed out the house and left him for good.
Paul really did love Jane. When she left him he was crushed and he deeply regretted having cheated on her. But, as we all know, he met Linda and things turned out quite good for the both of them in the end. I still can't help but wonder how things would have turned out had Paul been faithful to Jane......hmmm.

Yeah, that's great and all, but he wrote more songs for Linda and more meaningful songs. He and Jane were two different people. They couldn't decide on when to start a family, so they parted ways. Get over it.
'AND FOR THOSE WHO DARE TO SAY THAT THIS SONG WAS WRITTEN FOR LINDA.. GO AND READ A LOT OF BEATLES BOOKS AND LEARN BEFORE YOU SPEAK!!'
Okay.. that was a very stupid comment. Of course it wasn't about Linda--Paul and Linda met in 1967. This song was around the early years. So there is no logical way of that happening.
But they are a very cute couple. (Jane and Paul, I mean.)
It's like you said "ll opinions are valuable" people have right to not like Linda and although some people don't like her that doesn't mean that Paul didn't loved her.. get over it please
Paul loved Linda more than anyone he had loved before or since. Linda was the best and Paul knew it because he married her for 30 years until her untimely death. They would still be together now still so much in love. Linda was the right choice and I am glad

bothering is being mean and hiding comments from decent people. I said I liked Jane too and even had a scrap book with Paul and Jane's pictures but then I was glad for Paul that he fell very much in love with Linda and they married for 30 years and if she hadn't died they would still be enjoying their lives together. I think I have changed my mind about your video and really don't care if you erase my comments It will just show me and others that you are not too happy about Paul and his choices

your site has just become a vehicle for you and others to disrespect Pauland the woman he loved so much. Putting down a wonderful woman like Linda who died tragically is so cruel. Never speak ill of the dead about somneone like Linda who made Paul so very happy. He was devastated when she died and still is today. Good on you Paul for loving your soul mate and thumbs down to those who criticise her.

they looked perfect together but some of theri closest firends siad that they weren't getting along quite well.they thought different about all kind of things.despite that,i think they would eventually ended up married and happy if it hadn't been for paul's numerous affairs.plus they were so young.when he met linda he sticked with her probably because he was more mature and capable to appreciate the woman he loved.:)

thanks andraduia for some sanity in your comment. Their love was not a mature one and they were not right for each other. That's all there is. He must have had reasons to keep cheating on her although I disapprove of his behaviour. He was very young. He met Linda and that ws it. He had found his life long partner.

Contrary to everyone's expectations, Paul and Jane did not marry. They did get engaged, but it was called off in 1968. Paul had always fooled around on the side, but a fling with writer Francie Schwartz ended things with Jane, possibly because it was so brazen (apparently, Francie had even moved into Paul and Jane's house). Paul's availability was short-lived: He had already begun dating Linda Eastman and would marry her on March 12, 1969.

This is from TIMESONLINE when Paul was interviewed April 2008
April 6, 2008
Sir Paul McCartney on Linda
Linda was very down to earth. She taught me to relax. Her priorities were private rather than public. She didn't go on television to ingratiate herself. She was just very funny, very smart and very talented Exclusive by Sir Paul McCartney.
they were a couple but Paul and Linda were a gorgeous couple. Thank God he married the right one, the love of his life and the woman he still can't stop loving or forget. Pity she had to leave. He will and never did love anyone like he loved that natural no frills amazing woman. We miss you and love you Linda!!
I think Paul and Jane were the "gorgeous couple". I never thought Linda Eastman had much in the way of physical attractiveness. She was very ordinary compared to Jane. I don't deny that she and Paul had a good marriage; I just prefer Jane. Jane had talent, intelligence, beauty...and an independent nature. She also didn't want to crank out babies at that point in her life. I think that's what ended Jane and Paul: her independence. And his infidelities.
i think cynthiacher we will never agree but I respect that. Paul was the one who made his choice. It's not about exterior looks which this world is so obsessed with and creates so many problems with young gorls and their quest to be "beautiful and thin" I don't think it matters how intelligent or how talented each woman was because to me they both were. Linda and Paul wanted a family so she didn't just crank out babies. That sounds really cold and awful if you think about it.
Here is a quote from Jane when they were together for some years and she would have done anything for Paul so I think it's unreasonable to assume Jane didn't want a family with Paul and career was too important for her. Jane wanted to give up career for Paul and have lots of babies and this is what she said herself. I have heard it in early interviews I have seen and she has been quoted. Paul played up on her because he had his reasons. He loved her but something was missing.
"I am not Paul's wife-but yes, we are going to get married. We won't be married for a while yet, but when it happens we've got a family planned. First we want a boy and then-come what may.
part 4..cont....There's no particular reason why we are not getting married right away, except that we're both pretty\line young...I shan't give up my career unless it interferes with our being together...I love Paul. I love him deeply. I don't think either of us has looked at anyone else since we first met...I want to get married probably this year and have lots and lots of babies. I certainly would be surprised indeed if I married anyone but Paul."
Now here is a quote from Paul about his relationship with Jane.
McCartney on his relationship with Asher:
We nearly did get married. But it always used to fall short of the mark and something happened. And one of us would think it wasn't right....Jane and I had a long good relationship."
You can never change the past and he chose the very intelligent, caring and talented woman Linda as his partner.
You didn't watch the Sarah McLachlin vid did you? If not just do it once pretty please.
part 6... I really liked Jane too but I really admired Linda for so many things and Paul for marrying someone he loved and not some model or "beautiful" actress he was expected to marry. Take a look at other Linda vids and tell me you can't see how happy and very much they loved each other. He still can't survive without her. He said that recently. His Linda as he calls her is never out of his mind or heart. Wow! Take care cyn
I agree that, to the outside observer, Paul and Jane were fantastic. I always liked Jane's "Englishness", her porcelain doll features, and her speaking voice was ultra-feminine. Linda was a different "type" who came across, in my opinion, as gawky and awkward and just a bit uncomfortable in the spotlight. She was addicted to pot smoking {paul busted in japan carrying her dope!} which has a negative affect on family dynamics. I think there will always be Jane and Linda fans who disagree.
I suppose it's clear that I'm a Jane fan. I agree with you about Linda; she always seemed gawky and plain in comparison to Jane. Linda never seemed to wear make-up, wore shapeless dresses, didn't shave her legs...ew. After Paul took up with her he turned slovenly too; he grew a scruffy beard, wore shabby clothes, didn't bathe as often. I guess when you smoke a lot of pot your appearance is not a priority.
In the mid-90s I had a retail shop [just like Jane Asher does, ha!] One day, the mother of a well known rock manager/producer came in and because I knew trivia about her son, she took a shine to me. She knows many rock "legends" because of her son. She said to me, circa 1994, about Paul "he is ALWAYS high". I was floored and found that to be rather sad.
maryquant1967...this maybe true but did you ever think that some people just don't like others in the business or really don't know their facts. I am very aware he smokes pot and alwyas has but so do billions of people. I don't like the stuff because I know through my work that the cheap stuff people buy is laced with chemicals and causes brain damage as opposed to the old grass that was grown in a garden.
part 2...I still don't like any drugs but if he gets high what is high? Millions have a couple of wines every night which can be bad for you. He doesn't look like a burnt out dribbling idiot when you watch him interviewed. His memory is intact and he doesn't act vague Maybe he just doesn't get high every night Does he look ravaged? You can tell easily if someone has been permanently affected by their lifestyle and Paul looks fine and sounds fine. He doesn't hurt anyone else and it's a choice.
How naive. Many people who abuse drugs, and frequent use qualifies for that description, think they don't have a problem because they are not falling down drunk or overdosing. It's like the alcholic who says "I go to work every day. How could I be an alcoholic?". Does Paul have to look "ravaged" as the result of constant pot smoking? Should his creative output have been better the past several years? Its hard to know. But don't we all function better with clear minds?
I cannot comprehend your point. First you say "some people don't know their facts" and then you state "I am very aware he smokes pot". So, what facts did my acquaintance get wrong?
Hi maryquant1967..what i meant was that the facts about him ALWAYS being high may be incorrect. Unless someone lives or is around a person every minute of the day they can't say "he is always high" I don't have any doubts that he smokes pot. He has admitted it. I am also not condoning any use of drugs but he makes his choice and I just think that lucky for him he hasn't been hospitalised over and over with a mental illness as aresult of pot smoking. Some are very lucky.
part 2..I work in an emergency dept and also in the mental health industry and have seen what being always high can do to someone's brain. They don't function at all. It's sad. I don't see that with Paul.He has a problem if he can't do without it but he has just been very lucky compared to many others I have looked after in that he hasn't developed a psychotic illness which one can see immediately in those affected that way.
part 3..I know you don't like Paul or Linda and that's fine. I don't think as far as one can tell that they had any bad family issues. Every family will have it's ups and downs but they seem to be a very together and supportive family despite their individual issues. I probably didn't word the bit about knowing the facts and agreeing that he does use pot very well and I apologise for that.
part 4.. I have the most loving and devoted father who worships my mum. He is elderly now and no longer drinks alcohol anymore but he was an alcoholic pretty much all of his life. But he only drank at home secretly (spirits), thinking we didn't know. He worked hard and I can never recall him being off sick in all the years he worked. His mind is still as sharp as a tack and his liver function tests are normal.
part 5...mum has smoked for about 60 years and has healthy lungs etc. It's just luck that people get by somehow. At the end of the day I just meant to say that the comment "always high" can't be proved unless someone is with him 24/7. Who cares. He still functions and is only hurting himself not us. This whole world is ruined by drugs and too much alcohol. I hate it.BUT I still love Linda and think she did a lot of good for animals and charities despite the pot
part6..I think alcohol does more harm. You only have to hear about binge drinking going on with teenagers killing so many in car accidents and violence.
part 7...The media never reported any of that with the McCartneys and their way of life and we all know that people initially hated Linda so they would have done anything to defame her. Maybe Jane has the one or two pot smokes every now and then. They were pretty much all into it back in the 60's and we can't say if Jane shared a joint with Paul over those 5 years they were together. I like Jane so don't get me wrong but there are far worse things in this world than Paul having pot. Take care
Paul did drugs before he met Linda, but he became a die-hard pothead after taking up with her. Pot smoking was an everyday thing with them. It's weird: they were both strict vegetarians who would not put meat in their bodies, but would fuck their minds up with constant drug use. I guess they thought daily use of marijuana was harmless. It's NOT.
Good points. I think its easy to be in denial when recreational use becomes something more than that. I have wondered if either or both of them used it to escape the pain of losing their mothers at a young age. Some people say the worst pain is to lose a child but I think the worst pain is to be a child or teen and lose a parent. You don't have the maturity to deal with it and the pain stays fresh for a lifetime.
uhhh, no, paul wrote this way before he even met jane. he played it to his aunt and stuff years before. so sorry, this wasn't written for jane.

Did anyone read the story that came out about 3 years ago, in the daily mail newspaper. It said that Yoko and Paul had a one night stand, this was before Yoko met John Lennon. Did any one read that story, and it is sadly true that he used to cheat on Linda.

One of the great Beatle acoustic tracks of '65.
And Jane Asher? Lovely, lovely lady. So very beautiful and a great actress. There's a film in which she starred, post relationship with Paul, entitled, "Deep End". It was released in 1970. Can probably be found out here on youtube.
Check it out.

Baldenlong77 2 years ago 4
Paul married Linda because she got pregnant, & that's what "good Northern men" did back then. Same thing happened with John & Cynthia, and Ringo & Maureen. George was the only Beatle that married his girlfriend without her being pregnant. Also, Paul was a notorious womanizer who cheated on Jane whenever she was acting. She caught him in bed with Francie Schwartz, a groupie he had an affair with behind Jane's back.

He was probably thinking of some other girls face because he cheated on Jane a lot

It was never meant to be and everyone ended up happy. Jane is still very happily married and I still like her.

Paul really did love Jane. When she left him he was crushed and he deeply regretted having cheated on her. Paul's availability was short-lived: He had already begun dating Linda Eastman and would marry her on March 12, 1969.

they were a couple but Paul and Linda were a gorgeous couple. Thank God he married the right one, the love of his life and the woman he still can't stop loving or forget. Pity she had to leave. He will and never did love anyone like he loved that natural no frills amazing woman. We miss you and love you Linda!!
mary88stella 3 years ago
I think Paul and Jane were the "gorgeous couple". I never thought Linda Eastman had much in the way of physical attractiveness. She was very ordinary compared to Jane. I don't deny that she and Paul had a good marriage; I just prefer Jane. Jane had talent, intelligence, beauty...and an independent nature. She also didn't want to crank out babies at that point in her life. I think that's what ended Jane and Paul: her independence. And his infidelities.
cynthiacher 3 years ago
i think cynthiacher we will never agree but I respect that. That sounds really cold and awful if you think about it.
mary88stella 3 years ago
part 2...
He loved her but something was missing.
mary88stella 3 years ago
part 3....Here are her words.
Jane Asher on marriage, mid-1960's:
"I am not Paul's wife-but yes, we are going to get married. We won't be married for a while yet, but when it happens we've got a family planned. First we want a boy and then-come what may.

I certainly would be surprised indeed if I married anyone but Paul."
mary88stella 3 years ago
Now here is a quote from Paul about his relationship with Jane.
McCartney on his relationship with Asher:
We nearly did get married. But it always used to fall short of the mark and something happened. And one of us would think it wasn't right....Jane and I had a long good relationship."
You can never change the past and he chose the very intelligent, caring and talented woman Linda as his partner.
You didn't watch the Sarah McLachlin vid did you? If not just do it once pretty please.
mary88stella 3 years ago
Wow! Take care cyn
mary88stella 3 years ago
I agree that, to the outside observer, Paul and Jane were fantastic. I always liked Jane's "Englishness", her porcelain doll features, and her speaking voice was ultra-feminine. Linda was a different "type" who came across, in my opinion, as gawky and awkward and just a bit uncomfortable in the spotlight. She was addicted to pot smoking {paul busted in japan carrying her dope!} which has a negative affect on family dynamics. I think there will always be Jane and Linda fans who disagree.
maryquant1967 3 years ago
I suppose it's clear that I'm a Jane fan. I agree with you about Linda; she always seemed gawky and plain in comparison to Jane. Linda never seemed to wear make-up, wore shapeless dresses, didn't shave her legs...ew. After Paul took up with her he turned slovenly too; he grew a scruffy beard, wore shabby clothes, didn't bathe as often. I guess when you smoke a lot of pot your appearance is not a priority.

So, what facts did my acquaintance get wrong?
maryquant1967 3 years ago

I hate it.BUT I still love Linda and think she did a lot of good for animals and charities despite the pot
mary88stella 3 years ago
part6..I think alcohol does more harm.
