  • @yeah i know the guy your talking talking about, and i've already downloaded it. i'm talking about anyone guy i know :P

  • very well done.

  • Yessir!

  • man you are soooooooooooooooooooooooo sick i wish you could pdf me some of the patterns you put in your solos. if you can send me a message

  • 5:19 michael brecker influenced nice man

  • i just feel i should say i know a guy who transcribed this whole solo WITHOUT using a slow downer. it took him a year...

  • @walsh93jazz ahaha that sounds a bit like you're talking about a person with down syndrome, I know.. not funny

  • @walsh93jazz The guy you are talking about has a transcription available for free. Donate to him if you download his transcription as I did. Too cool to have this stuff in you arsenal of musical bullets.

  • Oh wow! You are absolutely awe-inspiring and... I dunno, regularly inspiring if you know what I mean haha

  • Awesome!

  • I had a feeling this sound was familiar, I used to listen to your other solo performance of this song all the time. I just happened to find this video in my recommendations tab, didn't even see the title. Great work man.

  • wait is this chris, or him?

  • Did you have the chance to write it down? I play piano, but would simply LOVE to play this. Thank you!!!

  • I simply ADORE his low register sound

  • such as cliche question and i'm sorry for asking but whats your set up? man you've got good tone whatever it is.

  • did you memorize the whole solo?

  • Beautiful. I'm a tenor player. I heard Chris solo a year or two ago and transcribed the first 3 chorus' and adapted some of those things he played for my own use. But to get that later stuff down note for note and then perform it is actually quite incredible. Just listened to cold duck time on your website and man, you can play on your own account too. You're some monster player and no-ones heard of you? Hats off, and let me know when (must come!) you come and play in the UK! Respect.

  • awesome! i tiny bit slower than chris' though

  • Good job bro, I'm doing the same thing...so much to learn from this. Did you learn it by ear...or did you have the transcription that is available?

  • @buttheadgsxr1000 Thanks for listening. I learned the solo by ear piece by piece using the Amazing Slow Downer, then put it all together. Best luck,

  • This is the most impressive thing I've ever seen on youtube. And there's some pretty impressive stuff on youtube.

Good for you man; if I tried to take on a project like this I would never be able to finish. Or even come close to finishing for that matter.

  • Hi. Very nice play.

    What is your setup?

  • Great job. I'm working on this right now. Only through the first couple choruses. you know you have to post your setup so everyone can all go out and buy all your equipment...

  • Did you do this in one take?

  • you absolutely own this. i've transcribed a couple choruses but damn man, you did the whole thing note for note and then played it like a mother fucker. i wasn't even planning on going on to the crazy stuff he plays later. you inspire me and make me wanna quit and just go watch futurama at the same time, the exact feeling i got from Chris's recording. great job. your altissimo is killin also

  • @ilthemsc

I spend a lot of time learning solos like this one, but that's only half the story. After I learn the solo, then I take it (or parts of it) and work it everywhere on the horn from the very low end, to as high in the altissimo as I can manage. The cool thing about this method is that you're working on time, sound, building a musical vocabulary, and the other technical aspects or playing all at the same time, and it seldom feels tedious or boring.

  • Thanks for listening, and for your comments. For a warm up, I'll usually spend some time with long tones on the overtone series (finger low Bb, and play all the notes that can be played with that fingering without using the octave key). In terms of reed preparation, there's very little I do. I switched to LaVoz mediums a while back, and have been really happy with them. Generally I'll soak them in lukewarm water for about 5 minutes before playing. If you have other questions, let me know.

  • this sounds great man. good work

  • I actually heard Chris's recording of this tune recently, it was absolutely phenomenal. It sounds like your hard work definitely paid off. Keep it up man
