You've got hair like Cammy White when it's braided :) Cute!
I've been doing CWC along with argan oil after I wash my hair and it's helped prevent breakage on the ends. I want to try coconut oil though in this method. Does coconut oil help increase the 'smoothness' factor of your hair? Also, do you think washing out the oil in the shower like you and then doing CWC would be too much? Most of my hair is pretty healthy, but I still sometimes have problems with split ends at the very end.
Hey Torrin, was just wondering... have you ever used dry shampoo on your roots or is it horrendously bad for one's hair?! ;) thank you for your vids xxxx
@sianelizabeth86 It's basically just a powder to soak up the oils. It won't ruin your hair or anything. It's good for a quick fix, but it's not all that fabulous. It won't hurt, though. :o)
Thanks Torrin, I'd have never found it lol :) I have not tried the tangle teezer. It looks like it would be great! I have used natural boars hair bristle brushes for 3 years now & noticed a difference. I have a short one (3/4 inch bristles) & a long one (1/12 inch bristles). The short for wet hair , doesn't pull as much & the longer bristles for dry. BUT lately I'm having tangle issues so you said Sally's has the tangle teezer? I will definately invest.
Just got the organic unrefined coconut oil & SOAKED my hair from chin to waist lol.
I've been having VERY TANGLED ends even after a trim up. I'm really hoping that this is gonna help. I don't use any alcohol products on my hair & I wash it every 4-5 days , treat with Garnier Fructis hair serum after I get out of the shower, & GENTLY blow dry with an ionic dryer.
@southernbellekari Oh, P.S. They changed the Silk Drop bottle again. It's now called "Brazilian Smooth" - but it's still all the same ingredients of original silk drops - it even smells the same. Stupid marketing department...gotta jump on the Brazilian bandwagon. LOL. Oh, and have you tried a Tangle Teezer yet? It has seriously helped my ends. Instead of having to lose 3-4 inches in my yearly trim, I'm only gonna have to lose 1. How bout them apples?
@kittiekat1236 I wrap it in a towel when I first get out of the shower - then after about 15 minutes, I detangle than either let it air dry all the way, let it dry to just damp and french braid it and soft roll the ends for waves, or blow it out if I want it straight. I only blow dry once a month or so at this point.
Dayum you have LONG hair o.o thank you SO MUCH for this. I dyed my hair once and my hair (naturally very smooth and silky) went BAM, frizzy, course, and a ton of breakage. And now that I know how to treat my hair to make it silky, Im positive my hair will go back to looking the way it used to (and thanks to your washing hair vid). Thannk you!!
I used to do nothing with my hair, just put it in a messy bun. I had so much breakage...uh, terrible. So at first I wanted to cut it but I got terribly stomach sick so i changed some stuff in my life and I decided I also should make more with my hair and I found you're awesome vid. Now I get so many compliments on how healthy and beautiful my hair(-styles) is/are. Thank you so much for that. (And sorry for my english.)
@AmyBurtonFilms I am so happy to have been of help to you! Yay for you for keeping your hair long and making the effort for it. I am very proud of you.
@alicelove13g Sometimes. If I want it straight, I have to blow dry. When I don't want it straight, I just let it air dry, or I braid it into French pigtails and roll the ends with soft curlers so I'll have waves with pretty ends.
@Minicrazzy4berry It's a "Granny gown" nightgown that my step-mom made for me. She has mad skillz when it comes to whipping up complicated things in an hour or two. And thanks!
@EternalFiend3 If you use it like I do, as an overnight leave-in then wash out type treatment, you should be fine. Remember to use it sparingly and if you feel you need more, then you can up the amount accordingly.
I have thick, curly (its been called wirey at times too) hair that reaches almost to the small of my back. I'm trying so hard to grow it but I've been very cruel to my hair. (Bleach kits and manic panic YIKES!!!) I wash my hair much like yours and brush before washing but I get a lot of breakage. I condition so much but still BREAKAGE.
Its growing at an alarming rate still but the breakage makes me frown.
Any help or hope? Thank you love everything you do!
@bookworm56227 So far as I can tell, it works on everybody. A few of my gals with finer hair have found they have to use a wee tiny bit, but other than that, good stuff all around.
I also use coconut oil, but I've used it after the wash, and it looks good. But it doesn't stay that way. So I think I'll switch to your method. I also find Olive Oil a bit too heavy :)
Did you know that you can make all natural deodorant with coconut oil? Just thought I would share. I came across PassionateHomemaking's channel an was in awe. :-)
i love your hair. they are so loooooooooooooooooooooooooong!!!!!! XD i have medium lenght red hair and it seems they are not growing at all from month!!! sigh
I have started doing your coconut oil routine, but I am having trouble getting it all out. It wont come out unless I directly shampoo the ends of my hair, which I know is not recommended. What should I do? Am I perhaps using too much?
Also, I have bought those small plastic rubber bands you recommended but they snap and break within a few minutes. Is my hair too thick for them or something?
Thank you for your wonderful videos, I hope my hair (24 inches now) will soon be as long as yours.
@NorthernKnight1000 not immidiately, I don't know how to explain it but oil should be applied on damp hair and never dry because over time, the oil can make hair stringy because it absorbs the stem! I'm sorry if it's not really clear but I'm not english so my english isn't that good (: have a good day !
I put coconut oil on my scalp as I have a dry itchy scalp. Anti dandruff shampoo didn't really help. But I put coconut oil on my scalp about 20 minutes before I wash my hair and then add a couple of drops of jojoba oil to my shampoo. Result: my scalp doesn't itch now unless I'm overdue washing my hair and my hair doesn't get greasy from the extra oil.
I found that the treseme all naturals has really helped. It has very little sulfate and all my split ends have completely gone away. My conditioner has no silicone, but I already have so much volume that I don't need it.
so how many times a week do you wash your hair? is there any way to get my hair back the way it use to be, really straight and soft, cause now it just gets all frizzy and its not as soft as it use to be, which makes me sad. do you have any technique or product i should try to make my hair softer? whats better sleeping with hair tied or hair down, people tell me different things so i get really confused. will hot water ruin hair? sorry lots of question but at least 1 answer for 1 question is ok.
@ccinah When your hair is frizzy, rough or any other kind of problem, always clarify! But only use it 2x month because it dries hair so you have to oil your hair after using it.It does WONDERS,trust me.I think the best 'goodnight' hairstyle is a braid down your back or two braids. And yes,hot water damages hair.A LOT.
You say you don't shower more than every five days. I have a slight problem with that, since my hair gets very greasy, noticable already the day after I wash it. Two days after I can hardly go outside, since it looks awful. Any tips on how I could prevent it getting greasy?
It rebels at the ends and turns them crunchy, so I stick with evoo and cocoa butter, which my hair really likes. It makes my ends super soft and keeps the halo away. :)
@langolava To get rid of the silicone build-up,you have two (most known) ways: ACV rinses(apple cider vinegar) or a clarifying shampoo.I would personally go with ACV,because it leaves hair smooth, silky, with no frizz and is a natural conditioner.Good luck!
P.S=If you do decide on doing ACV,make sure to dilute it with water.
were do u buy your coconut oil?? i have an oily scalp and so for me i find it hard not to wash it every day or else it will stink,, do u have any tips?
@neverbeenhere101 You can buy coconut oil at most drugstores.Your hair may be oily because the scalp is used to washing everyday so it produces oil. Some other ways of getting rid of the oil :you can use flower, baby powder. You sprinkle it in your hair and you brush it out.It works great and it helps you if you want to stretch washes.Stretching washes adjusts your scalp.Good luck!
I just came accross ur channel and i LUV ur personality <3 ur so cute. Has anyone ever told u u look like sookie from true blood? I was wondering cud u do a hair growth video. im tryin to grow my hair back to its original length.
my hair is a mess and lots of damages, and i can't rid of dandruff on my hair. i try everything just to loose of those.. hope you could help me. thanks!:)
Hi kiddo! Thank you. I bought the Silk FX for no good reason other than you said to do it and I am so pleased!
This is not a product that I would have ever spent time glancing at in a store, but it makes the shafts so silky and slick and funky, and glisteny, that it's great for a bunch of purposes.
It's good before braiding, etc. I have 50 inches worth, straight and fine, and it even works for someone like me.
Thanks for the coconut oil tip... I have long hair but I'm in the military so I have to keep it up for work, and I have been trying to find something to replace hair gel... Thanks!
do u have any advice on hair fall? mine tends to fall out a lot every morning when i got up from bed and also after shampooing. and if i don't shampoo for a day, the next day more will come out
It's kind of trial and error. If you notice when you go to wash it out that your hair sucked it all up...then use more...if there still seems to be a lot, then use a little less. :o)
I have long hair(not as long as yours) but my goal is to get it to my hips. I have trouble with split ends and I have tried everything. My fiancee' wants me to cut my hair now and I am crushed. any other ideas?
I don't think so. I know that mine is refined, so there is no scent, but I have heard that the unrefined smells delightfully of coconuts. I think they're the same as far as result, though.
That's absolutely true, 4:17 black, dark brown, whatever are all an extreme contrast to a white shining glow. Blond hair does reflect equally the same amount but it's just not as much of a dramatic shade difference. Your hair looks great after you oil, you don't even need to wash :S Especially if your hair soaks all that up!
I got a really good tip from Heloise. She recommends mixing a few drops of lavender oil into sweet oil to prevent split ends.
I don't use sweet oil (olive oil). I use coconut oil, as you do, just with the few drops of natural lavender oil mixed into it - about ten drops on each side of my hair.
If you have no where to be on wash day, slather it up, braid it, and just wear it like that all day. I would say try to oil it up and leave in it for at least an hour or two, but I think it's the most effective when allowed to soak into your hair, so the longer the better.
I totally agree with everything you said. I, too, have waist length hair (except mine is very curly.... so if I straighted it, it would be to my hips) and I have almost no damage at all. People ask me all the time what I do to make it look like that. I tell them I only wash it twice a week and they're always surprised. And I use oil, too. Helps so much.
Your hair is gorgeous indeed. It's too bad though that the natural products didn't give you satisfaction. They are sooo much safer for your health, especially with respect to cancer, genetic mutations and endocrine disruption (which most women suffer from). Hope you're not offended by my comment; I mean well. :-)
Long-haired brunette here!! And the shine using olive oil was wonderful!!!! Softness for days, too. :p But you said the coconut oil was "scent free" so if that's the case I'll try it.
You are so adorable in that old fashioned gown and braids! And Pantene Always Smooth is the BEST! It's the only thing that makes my ends not look like a tumbleweed! I use coconut oil too and my hair is elbow length now.
Just discovered your vids tonight - thank you so much for the time and effort you put in! My hair has just hit bra-strap-length, so I'm properly on my way to the long hair of my dreams and your videos are so helpful for care and styles! I keep seeing coconut oil in the cosmetic section of the middle-eastern supermarket down the road from me and always wondered what it was for - now I know! I'll get some next time I'm in.
Also, is that your nightdress? GORGEOUS! Goes so well with the hair =D
I don't understand why do you use Pantene. It has al lot of "cones" and a big amount of the worst "soaps" to wash the hair. Can you explain me this, please?
This is a to each his own kinda thing. My hair loves Pantene, so I use it. All of the shampoos & conditioners I use are loaded with cones. I went cone free for while, and my hair looked horrible. My hair is really old and damaged from everyday life; the cones smooth it and I like that. They also make it so I can get a comb through it, which nothing else does. I think cones damaging hair is a myth. Just my two cents.
Walmart is no longer carrying coconut oil! the one by my home has no more and will not be ordering any more. i have looked at walgreens, smiths, shopko, gmc, as well as my local grocery store with no success. any idea where i can find it?
oh Torrin, I just bought some cocnut oil today from Walmart, you were right, it was only 5 bucks! But here's my problem, I have thick dark hair just past my shoulders and not sure how much oil to put in it, any ideas?
My hair is mid back and thick. However, I was told by my hairdresser that I have 'baby hair' meaning the actual shaft of my hair is extremely thin so it tends to tangle a lot. Which is made worse by long hair. I've tried a lot of different products to keep this from happening as often and after three years of research I discovered Advanced Techniques from the avon line. They have a dry ends serum that works great. It conditions but doesn't make my hair greasy. Something to look into perhaps.
Do you have any advice to help my hair not frizz? I have wavy hair that's generally healthy but there is a lot of stray hairs that stick up no matter what. I've used coconut oil for several years and it's helped my hair from breaking. I also wash my hair every other day and with conditioner in between.
Those stray hairs that stick up are new hair coming in. I have them too. The silk drops and oiling help to an extent, but I know no way of making them not stick up altogether.
Love you videos...My hair is about as long as yours, and I never have the time to play with it. I just wear it down. I am also addicted to "cones"...Tresseme is the current brand. You do such a beautiful job with your hair and videos. I really loved the Crown Braid video...
I don't know that there's anything that causes you to shed less, except for pregnancy...but once the baby comes you shed all of the hair that you didn't while you were pregnant.
you can pick up a more fluid coconut oil as a carrier for Essential Oils - sold on most sites that sell EOs... adding a few drops of your favorite EO is a nice touch too.
I love all the tips, thanks! I wanted to ask about your brush, though. What kind do you use? I've been using a plastic one and it gets it straight, but I think it's been breaking my hair. Any suggestions of kind/companies?
stick to using wooden brushes, they are much gentler on your hair, also...a wide toothed comb that is wooden is also a LOT better than using an actual brush. Otherwise you can get away with ceramic paddle brushes, I think Torrin is actually using one of those type in her videos. I also use wood and ceramic, they are much gentler :)
Mine's plastic, actually. I have a boar bristle brush that I use to disperse the oils, and when I have tangles I use a wide toothed comb to get them out. Mostly I use my paddle brush which is a Goody brand Ouchless. It's made in such a way that it doesn't rip and pull like my extremely expensive one I used to use.
i use a boar bristle and nylon brush made by Umberto. I got it at target and it was kind of expensive but it's worth it! I get less split ends and my hair is shinier and sleeker than before i got it.
I also want to say thank you for talking about the coconut oil I have bleached my hair recently and after I washed my hair my hir felt like seaweed (mushy) so I started appling the coconut oil as well as Optimum oil therapy cream oil it is in a yellow bottle and it has coconut, olive, alvocado, and jojoba oils in it it smells great and works good to thanks again !!
This is my 1st comment on here, but I just had to write about the Silk Drops. We do not cut our hair due to Biblical/personal beliefs. My hair is to my rear, my 7-yr-old's is 3 inches past her knees, and my 4-yr-old's is to her rear. My 7-year-old and I both dread combing her hair out after a wash, but tonight I used the Drops for the 1st time and oh my!!! What a difference! Her hair combed right out and I was able to use a brush on it that I normally can't. Thank you so much for this post!
My hair loves cones too! I love coconut oil too and also use it as a pre shampoo but mix mine with conditioner and water, put it in a bun and turn the warm hairdryer on it.I leave it in for at least an hour. I love Sunsilk products too and an so upset they are discontinuing so many products.
i wanted to give you and any other readers/viewers and update on my adherance to your coconut oil regime.
torrin, i wish you could have felt my hair before and after i started using the product. it's like a completely different head of hair. it's softer silkier and hard to work with.
also, i don't loose the handfuls i used to when i wash it anymore. i just can't thank you enough for saving my head! haha
Your long hair style and care videos are the absolute BEST I've seen on youtube! You make everything you do seem easy to duplicate You've also got great charm and humor and the most lovely hair! Thanks for sharing!
hey torrin u r great.i found ur video tday n watched almost half ov them in one go.i,ve got butt length black hair, asian.i,ve used cocconut oil since childhood but i warm it before applying and i do a vigorous massage on scalp but u avoided scalp,y did u do that?am i doing it the wrong way?
do you have any 'cures' for fly aways near the scalp? i have bits stick up everywhere and i have a big problem with dandruff, i've tried the medical shampoos but it stops working after a couple of goes
when you're not washing your hair with shampoo, do you keep it down and let it get wet in the shower or do you keep it up in a hair net and keep it dry while you are showering?
I usually take a bath instead. Either way, I pile it up on top of my head and avoid the spray. I do own a shower cap, but find them annoying. That's just me, I guess. :O)
About the message below. Sorry, I thought you were going to say all those chemicals are bad. I should have just let the video play for 5 more seconds. :) Thanks for the vid. I'm going to try the oil tonight.
Does it matter what type of coconut oil, say, the kind that is only Pure or Extra Virgin. Or, the kind that you can get at WalMart that also contains Petroleum and Mineral Oil? Thanks!
Hmmm. Good question. I think to be safe, I'd probably use just straight up coconut oil. The kind I use I got in the organic section at the local grocery...and there's nothing in it but coconut oil. It would be the kind you find in the cooking section, not near any skin care products. :o)
i did this regime the other night. i could NOT believe how much my hair soaked in. i had to undo the braids and reapply the coconut oil my hair was so dry.
after washing, i used the silk drops. oh my! i could not believe how easy my hair was to comb out. it was amazing.
not only that, my hair was softer than it has ever been in years thanks to the coconut oil.
A quarter sized dab for the whole shebang...those drops are effective. Yes, it is my natural color and glad you like the bangs! I'm just one of those girls that doesn't look right without them. :o)
My hair is plenty soft. By using a boar bristle brush when I brush, it takes my hair's natural oils and distributes them. Thus making my hair soft without chemicals and other things.
lol, sorry. I just keep leaving all sorts of comments.
anyways, I too don't wash my hair every day which I find makes my hair healthier and keeps me from getting dandruff; but I can't go more than 2 days with out washing it because it gets super greasy up top if I do, so I wash it every other day. How do you get your hair to go 4 days without a wash?
The first two days it always looks great. When it starts to look a bit nasty, I just pony it and bun it...that way it just appears slicked back instead of greasy. :o) Since it's winter here, I find that I could wear it down for four full days and it doesn't look nasty at all...dry weather does that, I guess.
Thanks, Isabelle! My nightgown was made for me by my step-mom, she's a whiz with her sewing machine. And it's really nice to have one that's actually long enough for me in the arms. :o) Oh and to give your hair a cone boost now and then, perhaps you should try a cone filled leave-in conditioner or smoothing serum. That way you can get the benefits without total commitment.
Great video, I can tell you I love what coconut oil does to hair, my significant other uses organic virgin coconut oil, in her hair and I love it. It smells great. feels great, and looks great. thank you for sharing your video.
I LOVE coconut oil! I tried olive oil (made my ends crunchy)& camellia oil (too light). I use the coconut every day after I wash. I immediately damp-bun it & then take the sticks out a time or two during the day to let it dry a bit more. I alternate condition-only followed by an apple cider vinegar rinse & condition-wash-condition, where only the scalp is s'pooed. I have noticed a huge difference in the shine. My deep moisture treatment is aloe vera, honey & deep conditioner left on all night.
Another great video, Torrinpaige, a video that I am willing to share with ALL my female friends with long hair. Pls read my message on your YouTube page.

Also, I have bought those small plastic rubber bands you recommended but they snap and break within a few minutes. Is my hair too thick for them or something?
Thank you for your wonderful videos, I hope my hair (24 inches now) will soon be as long as yours.

you should put oil on wet hair if not It's going to make it dry !
SweetieL27 10 months ago
@SweetieL27 Trust me, I just tried the coconut oil yesterday, and my hair is anything but dry ;)
NorthernKnight1000 10 months ago
@NorthernKnight1000 not immidiately, I don't know how to explain it but oil should be applied on damp hair and never dry because over time, the oil can make hair stringy because it absorbs the stem! I'm sorry if it's not really clear but I'm not english so my english isn't that good (: have a good day !

you said that we shouldn't put any on our scalp....but what about coconut scalp massages?
also, on the 4th day, won't your hair already by really oily/greasy? if you put more oil, when you wash it out, won't it be super oily?
wizardsyay 1 year ago
I put coconut oil on my scalp as I have a dry itchy scalp. Anti dandruff shampoo didn't really help. But I put coconut oil on my scalp about 20 minutes before I wash my hair and then add a couple of drops of jojoba oil to my shampoo. Result: my scalp doesn't itch now unless I'm overdue washing my hair and my hair doesn't get greasy from the extra oil.

I found that the treseme all naturals has really helped. It has very little sulfate and all my split ends have completely gone away. My conditioner has no silicone, but I already have so much volume that I don't need it.

so how many times a week do you wash your hair? is there any way to get my hair back the way it use to be, really straight and soft, cause now it just gets all frizzy and its not as soft as it use to be, which makes me sad. do you have any technique or product i should try to make my hair softer? whats better sleeping with hair tied or hair down, people tell me different things so i get really confused. will hot water ruin hair? sorry lots of question but at least 1 answer for 1 question is ok.
ccinah 1 year ago

NorthernKnight1000 1 year ago
My hair hates coconut oil. </3
It rebels at the ends and turns them crunchy, so I stick with evoo and cocoa butter, which my hair really likes. It makes my ends super soft and keeps the halo away. :)
caadam87 1 year ago
oh and do you need a clarifying shampoo to get the silicone out? i'm thinking of using silicone shampoo/conditioners to help with frizz. thanks!
langolava 1 year ago
@langolava To get rid of the silicone build-up,you have two (most known) ways: ACV rinses(apple cider vinegar) or a clarifying shampoo.I would personally go with ACV,because it leaves hair smooth, silky, with no frizz and is a natural conditioner.Good luck!
P.S=If you do decide on doing ACV,make sure to dilute it with water.

were do u buy your coconut oil?? i have an oily scalp and so for me i find it hard not to wash it every day or else it will stink,, do u have any tips?
neverbeenhere101 1 year ago
@neverbeenhere101 You can buy coconut oil at most drugstores.Your hair may be oily because the scalp is used to washing everyday so it produces oil. Some other ways of getting rid of the oil :you can use flower, baby powder. You sprinkle it in your hair and you brush it out.It works great and it helps you if you want to stretch washes.Stretching washes adjusts your scalp.Good luck!

Hi kiddo!

So does it matter if the coconut oil is refined or unrefined?
Banksparty4 2 years ago
I don't think so. I know that mine is refined, so there is no scent, but I have heard that the unrefined smells delightfully of coconuts. I think they're the same as far as result, though.
torrinpaige 2 years ago
That's absolutely true, 4:17 black, dark brown, whatever are all an extreme contrast to a white shining glow. Blond hair does reflect equally the same amount but it's just not as much of a dramatic shade difference. Your hair looks great after you oil, you don't even need to wash :S Especially if your hair soaks all that up!
fergiebridge 2 years ago
i love you darling:)
MsLovelynina 2 years ago
I got a really good tip from Heloise. She recommends mixing a few drops of lavender oil into sweet oil to prevent split ends.
I don't use sweet oil (olive oil). I use coconut oil, as you do, just with the few drops of natural lavender oil mixed into it - about ten drops on each side of my hair.
SilverRedIndigo 2 years ago
when should i put the oil in if i shower at night?
scottishchief26 2 years ago
If you have no where to be on wash day, slather it up, braid it, and just wear it like that all day. I would say try to oil it up and leave in it for at least an hour or two, but I think it's the most effective when allowed to soak into your hair, so the longer the better.
torrinpaige 2 years ago
I totally agree with everything you said. I, too, have waist length hair (except mine is very curly.... so if I straighted it, it would be to my hips) and I have almost no damage at all. People ask me all the time what I do to make it look like that. I tell them I only wash it twice a week and they're always surprised. And I use oil, too. Helps so much.

smurfettex3 2 years ago
Your hair is gorgeous indeed. It's too bad though that the natural products didn't give you satisfaction. They are sooo much safer for your health, especially with respect to cancer, genetic mutations and endocrine disruption (which most women suffer from). Hope you're not offended by my comment; I mean well. :-)

(Sorry for my bad english)
Hughs from Barcelona
Verabadthings 2 years ago
This is a to each his own kinda thing. My hair loves Pantene, so I use it. All of the shampoos & conditioners I use are loaded with cones. I went cone free for while, and my hair looked horrible. My hair is really old and damaged from everyday life; the cones smooth it and I like that. They also make it so I can get a comb through it, which nothing else does. I think cones damaging hair is a myth. Just my two cents.

Ok. Thanks a lot for the answer! I think the same about it, but there are too much controversial opinions about this point. Thank you very much!!! :)

why do they call pantene the devil's cocktail?
VSophiaV 2 years ago 2
My hair is mid back and thick. However, I was told by my hairdresser that I have 'baby hair' meaning the actual shaft of my hair is extremely thin so it tends to tangle a lot. Which is made worse by long hair. I've tried a lot of different products to keep this from happening as often and after three years of research I discovered Advanced Techniques from the avon line. They have a dry ends serum that works great. It conditions but doesn't make my hair greasy. Something to look into perhaps.
AbortedWonderland 2 years ago
Do you have any advice to help my hair not frizz? I have wavy hair that's generally healthy but there is a lot of stray hairs that stick up no matter what. I've used coconut oil for several years and it's helped my hair from breaking. I also wash my hair every other day and with conditioner in between.
eurasianchica 2 years ago
Those stray hairs that stick up are new hair coming in. I have them too. The silk drops and oiling help to an extent, but I know no way of making them not stick up altogether.

This is good too because the shaft of the hair doesn't always get the oils your scalp produces.

btw, besides helping breakage does the coconut oil help you lose less hair or help prevent more strands from falling out ?

I don't know that there's anything that causes you to shed less, except for pregnancy...but once the baby comes you shed all of the hair that you didn't while you were pregnant.

I love all the tips, thanks! I wanted to ask about your brush, though. What kind do you use? I've been using a plastic one and it gets it straight, but I think it's been breaking my hair. Any suggestions of kind/companies?
AshNight1214 2 years ago
stick to using wooden brushes, they are much gentler on your hair, also...a wide toothed comb that is wooden is also a LOT better than using an actual brush. Otherwise you can get away with ceramic paddle brushes, I think Torrin is actually using one of those type in her videos. I also use wood and ceramic, they are much gentler :)
Minyadagniriel 2 years ago
Mine's plastic, actually. I have a boar bristle brush that I use to disperse the oils, and when I have tangles I use a wide toothed comb to get them out. Mostly I use my paddle brush which is a Goody brand Ouchless. It's made in such a way that it doesn't rip and pull like my extremely expensive one I used to use.
torrinpaige 2 years ago
@AshNight1214
i use a boar bristle and nylon brush made by Umberto. I got it at target and it was kind of expensive but it's worth it! I get less split ends and my hair is shinier and sleeker than before i got it.

Hmmm. Good question. I think to be safe, I'd probably use just straight up coconut oil. The kind I use I got in the organic section at the local grocery...and there's nothing in it but coconut oil. It would be the kind you find in the cooking section, not near any skin care products. :o)

lol, sorry. I just keep leaving all sorts of comments.
anyways, I too don't wash my hair every day which I find makes my hair healthier and keeps me from getting dandruff; but I can't go more than 2 days with out washing it because it gets super greasy up top if I do, so I wash it every other day. How do you get your hair to go 4 days without a wash?
lanawannabe87 3 years ago
