@MrIdontknowanyname Well, since the Antonov 225 is much bigger I think it can. However there is only one Antonov 225 so I'm guessing Airbus will have to make another Beluga much bigger than the A380.
@airlegoland Why just stick to the 747-8? You should always try new things. And plus, companies only buy specific planes to seat their number of passengers. For ex: If you had an average amount of passengers you would probably buy a 767s or etcs. If small amount of passengers you would buy A319's or for long distance flights A340's. Or for large amounts of travelers an A380s or 747s. Companies don't go by the best planes. They only go by planes that can fit their number of passengers.
correct me if im wrong but... does the narrator say "at the time of the test flight, airbus has 154 orders and still need 96 more just to break even"???
154 + 96 = 250 right? airbus need to sell 250 A380's to cover the total cost, right?
im saying this because A380 has 243 orders so far, 7 to go, but is not like a guy on the tube is saying, that airbus need to sell 1000 units to break even. Incredible how some people want others failure over nothing... is like envy, u know?
I just watched the whole 50 minute long documentary, and I realized just how much effort, sweat, and soul Airbus has put across 5 countries on the A380, with several years and several billions spent in research all for the A380 while all Boeing did was to stretch and re-engine a 40 year old 747, paint it nicely to make it look like a whole new plane, and call it a 747-8. People who hates Airbus are clearly Boeing brainwashed idiots and knows nothing about aviation or airplanes.
@JundaComputersGmbH Insofar as the "40 year old" 747 goes, why should Boeing have reinvented the wheel? The 747 is a 40 year old plane precisely because it's a design that has worked marvelously well for all of these decades, well enough that the European philosophy of air travel when the 747 was launched, the Concorde, is now a relic of aviation history whereas the 747 is still going strong and is validated by the 380. Airbus has always been a response to Boeing, not the other way around.
@RushProbeSix Actually when Airbus established in 1970, they introduced the world's first widebody twin jet, the A300. Boeing at the time had 707, 727, old 737s, old 747s, none of which are widebody twin jets. Boeing responded its twin engine widebody, the 767 in 81, then Airbus with A330 in 92, then 777 in 94, then 787 in 09 and A350 in a few years. 747 never worked marvelously with the worst crashes involving it. Airbus showed Boeing how a super jumbo should be properly made with the A380.
@JundaComputersGmbH And Boeing was established in 1916, 54 years before Airbus, so Airbus had far more than enough time to study its idol. For the record, I'm not an Airbus hater in any way; the 380 is a fine example of human achievement for which Europeans can and should be proud, but it is still a follower in a segment created and made classic by the venerable 747. There are originators and there are imitators. The math on this one is very easy to do.
@JundaComputersGmbH Well... think about it. the 747 was introduced in the 70's, so the plane at the time was built to the highest saftey mesurements at the time. Then, in the mid 80's major crashes started happining due to engine faliure, communication errors ect., ect., ect.. But the 90's and the 2000's had the worst crashes, mostly due to the planes just being plain old.
Only problem with this aircraft? A full fatality crash immediately becomes the worst aviation disaster in history in terms of pure fatalities... But thats looking on the bright aide :s
I just love the " testing of the new RR engines" that no metal penetrated the engine casing. Reckon they can sell that to QANTAS!?! Haha thanks for the upload dude.
This video story is an excellent representation of this Super Air Craft. Great job to all responsible for this work. Only the test of time will prove, this Largest of air craft in the world a success or not. Good Luck A380!
Just came back from School. (Computer Engineering tech) i thought its a hard course!!! I am watching this and its giving goose bumps!!! THIS IS real engineering 50 min of pure enjoyment of what technology has came up these days. hoping to contribute to these state of the art manufacturers. Yes flying in one of this is very exciting, but i think the process of manufacturing it is more exiting and enjoyable.
Well done Airbus. and thank you Mr or ms "pikemaster92" for posting these videos
@pikemaster whar the hell hapened to Boeing, had 747 for half a century, it from the start had provision to become a full upper decker, how pathethic of Boeing to not field a full upper deck 747 through the 90s when the world economy was going so strong, everyone knows the 747 is super reliable and airline companies love purchasing it for decades, a full upper deck would have been a tremondous financial success for Boeing now for 20+ years, but they blew it royally, now the 380 is unstoppable,
@undogod Nothing happened to Boeing - they rejected double-deckers twice in the past as pointless size increase without any real benefit. Douglas also rejected a double-decker design. The main problem is lack of a good cargo option - the second floor is integral to the strength of the plane but makes it useless for cargo. Cargo is actually what saved the 747, which is already mostly too big for passenger operations. The A380 is old tech and already practically obsolete. Boeing know their work.
@pikemaster92 the product needed more technical coverage,blueprints,cad,3d views, etc.
also more on engines, way more on cockpit, should be more technical without being too much so, nice job! especially depiction of production facilities, there too more technocratics, it's not a mistake to get more technical, we want to see this aircraft more cause it's new technology than because it's big, the 747 and C5 are big, who cares anylonger, this is NEW tech, same with 787, its new, OK?,
Wow... This video left out the billions of dollars lost by the epic fail of Airbus. The first time the production pieces were brought together, they didn't fit. The pieces were cinstructed using different measurements. The whole project was almost scrapped because of the huge financial loss taken by the company.
It is one of the prices of doing international business such as this. Not that it's a bad thing, but companies need to be very careful and evaluate how they do business.
@brianaquinas dont forget that it is also one of the prices of being a pioneer in your field. it's the largest commercial airline, build in several different countries, and partly out of synthetic materials.
u can't expect for everything to work perfectly at the first try.
@dimos47ki7 Which is understandable. However, those in the positions of management realized how much money was at stake. If some more time was spent on planning insted of trying to rush it, then the company would have saved some time and money. The feat was impressive, I will agree. However, I was merely pointing out that fact that the video skipped that entire debacle. They made it sound like they did throw it all together perfectly the first time.
@brianaquinas Remember also that airplanes are not spacecraft - the A380 may be a great achievement from a technical point of view but a total failure as a generator of revenue. In truth Airbus have made a catastrophic error with this plane, and could very well be sunk by it, particularly when the vastly more efficient 787 flies.
im the captain on that plane...thank guys
