I am a pianist myself and I find this pen's and the Fly Fusion piano features obsolete and junk! Why the hell am I gonna pay money to play on a stupid piece of paper when I could play on a real piano!? My notes can be scanned with scanners! This is a freakin' cheap trick. If you want to use a technical device to take notes, use a high quality voice recorder. Even still, that's a little nerdy.
@superman5212 i am speaking for myself and all the pianists I know. How would you play a chord with that thing? How would you play a single song with the keys this pen offers you?
@borborcarcar, Each page has billions of nano-meter sized dots. There is an infa-red camera next to the tip of the pen which calculates where on the page, the pen is. this is also why the pen and especially the paper cost alot.
@sabahkids It records audio and when you write a word, it creates a link. so when you click that word, it speaks the audio it heard whilst that word was being wrote.
If you prefer to write than type, which I do, then it is. If you can type fast with no problem than there is no point in getting this. just get an audio recorder for about 20 bucks and then use your comp to type. But I prefer to write, so I like it a lot. I can just write a lot faster than I type. And the search features are cool. That way you don't have to go through a ton of documents looking for one specific set of notes lol. Saves a lot of hassle in the long run. I would Def recommend this!
Very informative review, I've been trying to figure out if I should save some money and just buy this thing for my upcoming first year in college rather than spending around a thousand on a tablet PC. Great job!
You can do the same thing in a laptop with Microsoft OneNote.
I would prefer Tablet Laptop with superb Microphone.
How MS OneNote work, at the start of the lecture, you generally start recording, and as write down note, the recording sync with the note you wrote down. After an hour, just stop the recording, go home and you can click any word or lines and it plays the recording at the particular time/note. i find that awesome but i don't want laptop some professor are againts it for odd reason(s)
This does the same thing a tablet PC will do for 1/6 of the cost. . . You can get one of these for like 150. A good tablet PC will run you at least a grand. You might be able to find an off brand tablet PC for 300 or maybe 400. But I would rather stick with this. Small, discrete, and convenient.
but theres so many things a tablet can do compare to the pen. So its mostly preference. ^^ i would love to have both. ^^ i'm not for or againts the two

can it sequence tracks like the fly?

This is incredible. The only drawback I sense would be the expense of the paper.
As an academic, I seriously have to consider this as a worthwhile investment.

if you have a printer you can print out your own paper but really if you ther only about 1 or 2 dollars more for a 3 subject note book

You can also get a pack of 4 notebooks for like 20 bucks. Not bad in my opinion.
