It's not the worst I've seen but it is definitely an awful match. Honestly, a lot of people blame Warrior but everyone deserves a fair shame of the blame for this one.
Warrior looked like he blew himself up before they even started, Hogan stuffed up big time with the fireball and bogged down the match wasting time outside, hardly any big slams and power moves, the ref was stupid getting in the way at times, Bischoff looked ridiculous holding the ref, terrible ending...the list goes on.
The match sucked, but they were limited. Warrior tore his biceps at the last PPV and wrestled when he probably shouldn't have. They should have saved this match for Starrcade anyways, but WCW was the king of hotshotting stuff too early.

If WWE releases a 3 disc DVD set on Ultimate Warrior, should they include this match on it? I mean it didn't live up to hype by a LONG shot and they did mess up a few times. WCW had such amazing talent. They just didn't use it right. Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior were never bigger than when they were in the WWF, and I have a hard time believing that changing their personas was a good thing. Hogan wasn't a bad guy, and the Ultimate Warrior wasn't that much of a talker. Keeping them the same would have been so much better.

@MrSinister1979 No, they changed the characters of their stars drastically, they under-used the Macho Man, they took the biggest icon in wrestling and made him a bad guy that didn't have even close to the same connection with fans...it was just a poorly managed company. The star cast of WWF at the time was a total joke compared to what WCW had.

WCW audiences were supremely bored with his say-your-prayers-drink-your-milk routine, with many of the older WCW fans hating it entirely since it was simply a rehash of his WWF gimmick, and Hogan knew it. It was a risk turning heel, and he almost didn't agree to it - but he also knew that if it meant still being at the top of the card, it was a risk worth taking.

I used ti love WCW as a kid but I think it was just the novelty of seeing the old wrestlers in action again. Looking back WCW was terrible. WWF moved on but WCW was stuck in the late 80's, early 90's.

It was never as cool when Hogan didn't come out to Hendrix. That set him apart from the rest of the group. I loved nWo, but the same theme song for everyone was a bad idea. Good at first, but it wore it out. Hogan had Hendrix, Hall and Nash should have had some Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, or Stones.

With all that talent, it was amazingly bad. Warrior also did a tag match with Sting V.S. Hogan/Hart, but never even took his coat off and was wearing jeans. He didn't even wrestle in the match. Warrior's WCW run was such a waste.

such a fucked uop match by wcw they could have played and thought this 1 through soomuch better!!! they have got 2 great Wrestlers of all times fightenin aginst 1 another 8 years later!!! these guys were legends and with the Return of the ultimate warrior was EPICCCC... how he wanted revenge on hogan but there scripts were wack! they mis-used the warrior and made him infact looook a softer warrior compared to his old 1 in the WWF and old WCW complete upset!

@JUGGALOMETAL80 he knows holds but intentionally decided to not use them, in 1999/2000 i saw hogan occasionally experiment with a drop toe hold into an arm barr, and against flair he put rick in a sleeper, and I think the figure 4 aswell. all im saying is he does "know them" but to be different distanced himself from them, But you would be right if you were to say, he made it through 80s 90s ect without using them, and was infact better off without them.

jim hedgewig aka warrior was such an ass in every federation/association he worked for. vince and eric both said it he screwed himself. and now he suing vince for publishing that dvd about him. the dvd was awesome though that vince put out about warrior. im waiting for the von erichks and texas torando dvd to come out.

It was never as cool when Hogan didn't come out to Hendrix. That set him apart from the rest of the group. I loved nWo, but the same theme song for everyone was a bad idea. Good at first, but it wore it out. Hogan had Hendrix, Hall and Nash should have had some Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, or Stones.

@ryantheguy He did that Wargames match at Fall Brawl the month before this. It was a train wreck too though. Hogan, Warrior, Nash, Hart, Sting, Luger, Page, Piper...and Stevie Ray for some reason (Hall was doing his drunk angle). Page won it too, believe it or not. With all that talent, it was amazingly bad. Warrior also did a tag match with Sting V.S. Hogan/Hart, but never even took his coat off and was wearing jeans. He didn't even wrestle in the match. Warrior's WCW run was such a waste.

You know, I always blamed the Starrcade 1997 Match with Sting being the start of the fall of WCW, so much hype and so much lost. this match didnt have that same hype but could have been HUGE had it played out right, common too bad hogan is such a ego manaic who cant wrestler or WCW would still be standign
