When I was in Ambon in 2000 it was well known that the Polri (police) was secretly giving guns to the Christains/RMS (led by Agus Wattimena) and the TNI were giving guns and bombs to Laskar Jihad, led by Jafar Umar Thalib. This was done to sabotage the Gus Dur government because police/miitary hated him. I remember the Grand Mosque in this slip. It is called the Al-Fatah Mosque. The Malino Treaty in 2002 seemed to end it....for now anyway

Jika Papua dan Maluku inging merdeka paling tidak tunjukan sebelumnya kalau daerah2 itu tidak akan menjadi seperti Timor Leste. Apalagi Papua yang sangat kaya raya dan banyak negara asing mengincar kekayaan itu.
