Here a flip side to this. I was rase by deaf parents. My mother had place mirrors through out the house. Being the youngest of four hearing boys. She was pretty wise to hearing children back talking to adult. Which us kids thought we were smart. Thinking all we would have to do is turn our back to my mom and say whatever want. Well with all the mirror carefully place throughout the house she would see everything we would say.

My daughter was attending Montana school for the deaf and blind and my son was in 2nd grade and he kept failing his hearing test so we were looking into him attending MSDB also, well as it turned out, he was faking his hearing loss so he could go there were the teacher were alot nicer than his grade school......loved it.

She'd look at the reflection, and saw her mom beckoning (or something to the sort), and so she'd turn around. Her mom got her neighbor to see, too. But then, her dad came home, and couldn't believe it. She finally revealed that, Nope, she couldn't hear. And they scolded her for it. It's only Funny if you know ASL.

This took me a few times to understand everything, as I'm still learning and you went a little fast. But that's a pretty funny story and thank you for sharing that with us.

The rest of you who keep complaining about not understanding, learn Sign Language and you won't have that problem. It isn't her fault you're sign impaired. It's not her responsibility to make sure you understand. It's not like loads of people put subtitles on their videos so she can go about reading and understanding it.

I'm from NZ but fluent in ASL.

Basically, what she said was, her mother thought she could hear her mother, but it was because of the reflection from the window that she was able to turn around when her mother called her. Her mother was shocked and tried it again and again, then went to get the neighbour to share the "shocking miracle". Later during the evening, her mother shared news with her father and she who could lipread rushed to the table and got on it, but her father wasn't fooled...
