I used to use John Freida too. Didn't do anything to my then dry, frizzy curly hair. I switched to organic shampoo, conditioner and I don't have to worry about that anymore. You should try if that would work for you. I have full Control over my hair, yay!!!

yes it uses harsh chemicals. it has the same effect of dying your hair to much if you perm it to much or do it wrong you can singe your hair and burn it

i started using a product line call "got2be"

use the straight collection on ur curly hair.. u know the shampoo conditioner and all those things... girlll i went from crazy frizzy hair to hot hollywood haivy hair lol!! no joke! i didnt get my hair 100% straight... but it tone my curls down big time!

I have naturally wavy/curly hair too! For a long~ time I had no idea how to manage it, so I used to straighten my hair every day...which led to a lot of hair loss. Recently, I found out about Pureology RealCurl from my stylist. So now, instead of getting a layered cut, I get a plain cut (which is the best for curly or wavy hair), scrunch damp hair with the Pureology stuff, and let it air dry. It's the most natural and healthiest way to manage hair. There's no damage and get tons of compliments!

hi!i'm pretty sure the perm you got is called a "digital perm". i went to japan in dec. and got this perm. everything you described about it is what i have/do. my hair is naturally stick straight/no volume. so this is a miracle for me. i love this perm!

I permed my hair as well. I have several questions about how you keep yours. I normally only comb my hair when i'm showering and the hair is wet. Sometimes i do it before I shampoo but since i have such naturally thin and straight hair it gets tangly easily so I just comb when the conditioner is on. When do you comb yours? Also, I heard this rumor that you're not supposed to wash your hair for a week after you first get a perm. How long did you wait till you washed your hair hte first time?

yup, it definitely helps, especially if your hair is more on the straight side. But if it's already kinda wavy/curly, then putting curlers in when your hair is dry will still help to define curls more...

Well when my hair dries on it's own (without product or anything) it's usually just kinda wavy too :) but i think all the extra styling stuff helps to make it a little curlier!

Your hair looks amazing! My perm is nowhere near as awesome. I didn't go to an Asian stylist, I didn't pay nearly as much either. But it was enough to make me almost cry! And my hair's so damaged it's breaking A LOT! I probably won't ever get a perm again :(

I'm so sorry to hear your experience! Unfortunately that seems to happen a lot..I got a really BAD perm when I was a teenager too :( I would say give your hair a chance to rest and grow out before perming it again..and find a good stylist for sure! :)

I highly doubt I'll ever get a perm again. Too expensive, too stinky, too damaging, too long. I did invest in a t3 flat iron so I'll just practice using that whenever I want curly hair from now on.

I have permed hair too, and my hair is pretty long. I'm actually curious as to what hair looks like when the perm "expires".... cause the past few times i permed my hair i just chopped the curls off... is there hope for my long mane or do i have to cut it off because my hair grew in straight?

Well mine started going all wonky gradually, and I found that the hairs closest to the base of my neck were the first to go poker straight. The worst part was that some would go straight and others would stay kinky/curled and it would be really uneven...:( I guess it'll come to a point when you'll just have to decide whether you want to manual curl it to enhance what you have, or straighten it...
