i'm an italian ties lover, you are a really good teacher and i agree with every of yours suggestions. I also literally like the tie shown in your videos.
Similar to the Windsor but it uses a little less of the tie than the Windsor so its not as bulky and usually tapers down way more than a windsor...so there really are differences in these knots when done right...thanks for great demos!!
I'm a tall guy, and probably get a good portion of that height in the torso. I never have bought a extra long tie before, and just worked with regular ones whenever I was shopping. Whenever I tie a windsor or double windsor if you will opposed to the single, the narrow end always becomes cockeyed and sticks out to the left or right. I usually have about 1 to 2 inches left behind the wide end past the knot, but i always feel like I have to fix it to stop the excess from poking out. Tips?
I am a tall guy and have the exact same problem. What's worse is that the big and tall ties are often ugly for some reason. What I find helps are 1) Buy a tie that is good quality material, not too thin. 2) Use different knots for different ties, not all knots look good with all ties and 3) Invest in a good tie clip and tie pin. A good tie clip or pin can make all the difference. Also, you can just pin the narrow end discretely to your shirt with a small pin too.
It´s about time I learn to tie my ties. So I have decided this one is my favourite. I am atending a wedding this saturday, so I must begin to practice right now ;) Great series of videos! Thanks for sharing your skill
All these tie-tying instructions would work better id a two-tone tie was used, perhaps two solid contrasting colors, one on each side, with a shirt also of high contrast.
The best lnot-tying instruction books use this principle.
You are actually right, I never thought about it but it is exactly like the Windsor. Unlike the Windsor though, it starts inverted, thus eliminating one turn and making it slightly smaller than the Windsor. Thanks for your input!
I'm always able to make the seam on the back piece go against my chest, the seam seems to invert itself during the pullthrough for me. I also like that you can pull the top sides out and make this one a nice symetrical triangle, this knot means buissiness!
I also tend to get the back piece turn around. It happens when you pull it to make the knot tighter, so if you don't want it to reverse pull half an inch at a time (or just about 1 cm or so) while holding it as close to the knot as possible.
finally information that my father should have given my but since im orphan i don´t have to be askin any more and feeling ashamed of it thank you so much!!!!
The eagle has flown and landed. In response to the seam; no, the seam is in the correct position. The Plattsburgh is tied inverted (you save one loop that way). Thanks for commenting though... :-)
Absolutely beautiful knot. Looks like… a wasp?

woohoo. I always thought that I used the Windsor Knot but no its the Plattsburgh Knott.
Personally I think this looks better than the Windsor. Its a lot more solid but still quite wide and gives the "Windsor" look :-)
Great set of clips by the way. Really useful

Is it just me, or does this one look damn near identical to the Windsor knot with the collar down, if maybe a bit broader?
DisposableInterloper 2 years ago
well it pretty much is except you start with the seam facing out and with the short bit on top instead
Dontchokeonfear 2 years ago
That's the thing though. There are dozens of methods for tying what's essentially the same knot. Why not dozens of aesthetically different knots?

the only difference I can see is that u start off with the tie facing away from u. all these knots are basically the same with slight variations

Which of all the knots look the most provacative or stand out the most?
314DOWORK 3 years ago
It's all about which knot goes best to which tie. The knot compliments the tie, not the othe way around.
That said, It's clear that the "Windsor" is the most popular of all knots. Not without reason.
avvi66 3 years ago
@avvi66 i thought the half windsor was the most popular.
