Please stop calling this a "song", people. I hear no voices, nor words. Do you? It is a movement from a string quartet. A piece of music. A composition.
When I become President of the Universe it will be illegal to not like this.....................Beethoven's string quartet in B flat major op. 130, cavatina: adagio molto espressivo
The section that begins around 3:45 is possibly the most beautiful bit of music I've ever heard...I must have listened to just that little section hundreds of times.
Dorias77 I have a book published in 1964 called "Fifty Famous Composers" in which the author Gervase Hughes says " The cavatina from the string quartet op.130 and the lento from op.135 remain rare examples of music which bridges the gap between earth and heaven: listening to these sublime strains might surely bring comfort and hope to an anxious soul at the dread moment when it is about to pass from the measurable known to the limitless unknown."
One of the most brilliant pieces of music I've ever listened to

The sadness seems to end at 3:42 but it doesn't last long. Genius Beethoven.

Beethoven admitted that he himself cried when he heard this. Heard it in his head, for he was deaf by then...

I prefer this to be played a little slower - I think this is a little too fast.

Beethoven's assistant at the time, Karl Holz said that this was Beethoven's favorite piece that he had wrote, as well when he listened to it he wept.

@kaitlinlara Listen to the Mozart concerto fro Flute cello and harp. That in my opinion is the most beautiful thing ever composed.

This is the song played when one enters heaven.

for me, it is the last few minutes of Mahler's 2nd symphony. but yes, this music is fitting as well ;)

@Dorias77. It would, if Heaven actually existed.

@coreymitchelhoulden well, since it was sent into space maybe the phrase is "played when entering the heavens"..
