  • Maltelec, send him warm greetings from maggy and roger egli, he build the engine for cherry, my father's boat... is shamrock up and running again? Thanks, Roger

  • @MrZhefish Shamrock is most certainly running again. I didn't go on it this week but I have plenty of pictures of it on thesteamboatingforum (dot) net under the Rally Reports section of the forum.

  • at the end of the clip, you see a 1A engineer, a roger mallison, he's engines are just ART... well wehn i think about it, it could also be his brother :) they are lookalikes! :) Greetings from Switzerland

  • @MrZhefish That is Roger. I was chatting to him yesterday.

  • thats a big ass triple or quad! nice1

  • @porpoisefathom I think you'll find it a compound.

  • this one at full speed is just amazing. you're using anthracite coal, right? i might just build one of those myself.

  • @Fireheart528 The coal we were burning that day is very close to anthracite but not quite there. Fortunately the firebox is massive, so we can burn poorer coal while still getting the power required.

  • What a great ride.

  • 19 knots (35 km/h) on steam - looks fantastic!!! How have you reached it?

  • @Motaro76 Its quite easy really. Big engine, long boat and plenty of coal!

The engine is about 100HP at 450 rpm, which is flat out.

  • Great video, and lovely steamer! Just one question though; it always seems as if in a lot of outings that your wife is always in some sort of American patriotic garb. Why is that, just out of curiosity?

  • Well, you really don't want her on the ocean then.

All that salt will realy incrust your boiler's innards. BIG problem...

The lake's beautiful though. What lake is it?

  • Its Windermere, the largest lake in England.

  • Its beautiful...

  • @theshipman you can run her in the ocean and brackish water if you have a water purification system attached to it. thats what i'd do.

  • Does your system have a condencer, or does it draw water directly from the lake? If so, you coule put a purrification system on it, and take it to the ocean on a calm day(no wind).

  • This launch is a puffer so it draws all the water from the sea (lake). There isn't really enough room for a condensor with the side of the plant it has in.

  • Are there other lakes around that DON'T have the 10 mph limit? I would LOOOVE to see her at flank speed!!!!

  • Unfortunetly not, all lakes now have speed limits. Also its a bit tricky to tow a 50 foot boat around the roads we have here

  • Screw the 10 mile hour speed limit !!!
