@robertooo54 Hate to tell you..it wasn't Brit's bottom in the Wickerman lol..unbelievably she had a "stunt bottom" lol in the shape of the tea lady on the set.Fantastic film for sure+I too fancy BE so you're in good company..hehe
I've actually heard other sneaker pimps songs an I was watching hostel and finally after so long decided to search for the song and was surprised it was by sneaker pimps. This shit is great.
This song really made the Wicker Man (The original from the 70s not the remake) with Britt Ecklund dancing around naked trying to seduce the virginal police officer in the next room. The only thing is the Sneaker Pimps chickened out from performing the last verse from the original song! It goes: How a maid can milk a bull And every stroke a bucketful
wore out my album...went to fye to repurchase and with this song in my head, the clerk had never heard of them...damn what a buzzkill. and no they didnt have any of their music...
no shit... how can you not feel the beauty of this song... it makes mine crawl, yet in a way I can not describe... a way I crave... not a way I look for a way out of...like a dope sickness... it's lulling...I accept it with open arms
Thanks to my friend from Manchester for turning me on to Sneaker Pimps. The rich texture of the song along with the quiet power of the rhythm section and the haunting vocals put me in mind of something from a James Bond soundtrack. I hope that I can be forgiven for never seeing either version of the movie, although after hearing How Do and reading the comments I feel compelled to watch the movie (original first) to understand and experience the association with this unique and moving song!
@bazzathefourth i am aware of this... it was way better than the new Wickerman which sucks ass even though I find Nicolas Cage attractive, he does not do the film justice nor does he live up to the performance by Edward Woodward in the original film.
@SirBullet754 Drunk now, and in wonder and awe. Most underrated song on the album. I still can't get out of my head the synth doing something out of an old nintendo game and it drives me nuts.
And I can seee now that this is a cover from a song on the original wickerman soundtrack. So yeah, I put my foot in my mouth. I can b a man and admit it ; )
@SirBullet754 first, thanks for posting a great song, but why would u not give proper cred to the ORIGIN of this song?? Sure, it was featured on the Hostel soundtrack, but originally it's a track on their debut album "Becomming X" released in '96. Probably long before Hostel was even a thought in Eli Roth's head. Im just sayin, "Becomming X" is more relevant to this band/song than Hostel...
There are many edited versions by Roger Corman who got a hold of the movie. Cut so that it could be shown at drive-ins in the US and each version has the scenes arranged in different sequences. The original film was destroyed by the BBC/ and buried under the paving of the M-6 roadway. A DVD has been released of the film from compiling all the various versions the best they could
As for Britt Ekland, she was with Rod Stewart at the time. Yes... The Wicker Man film of 1973 is considered the Citizen Kane of horror films in the UK. Because it became such a cult classic, the movie has seen a resurgence.
This Song is a remake of an original song called "Willow's Tune" from the 1973 film "The Wicker Man" It was written by Gary Carpenter and his band Lodestone/Magnet, who is in the process of going through British court to claim royalties for this song and another from the movie, both of which the Sneaker Pimps never secured rights from him to use. There is also a segment at the beginning of the song where the actual scene from the movie can be heard. This too was used without permission.
@Jenigan - btw this is "Willows Song" it was sung by Willow who was "Aphodite incarnate" in the movie "The Wicker Man" Brit Eckland was dancing around naked, pounding on her doors trying to give the Doomed Man his out (ie: they do not sacrifice anyone who is not VIRGIN) - "Sirens Song" is a Tim Buckley song, very beautiful, which Cocteau Twins covered....

Please everyone viewing this go and watch the orignal 1973 version of The Wicker Man....it is one of the most chilling and disturbing horror films of all time but an abbsolute grade 1 classic!

i also enjoyed the doves version of this song, pure magic ,the doves are very underrated if you ask me, shoulda been more recognized for their work, one of my favorite bands!!!!!
The CD has just enough more clarity in sound to make this youtube version no threat to copyright. The CD version is sublime - this is just a hint of the original's beauty and power. What a sweet song, and so entrancing.
thank you so much for posting. hadnt heard this in years. damn now i gotta hunt down that album again and throw it back into the mix. underrated song!
Thank you, Ms. Lindsey, for this on fb. It is a long-held favourite of mine, ending up in one of my '90s cassette compilation tapes (remember doing those?) . . . SirBullet754, you're a scholar & a gentleman for uploading this gem. Thank you both ~ (•8-D
This was included in Hostel as an obvious reference to The Wickerman starring Edward Woodward, Christopher Lee & Britt Ekland. Ekland, the spell caster and temptress was married to Peter Sellers and never, as far as I am aware, connected to Mick Jagger. Whether or not Sellers was pissed off by her naked scene in which she casts a spell on the virginal Woodward I do not know but can affirm this was one of the most erotic and iconic scenes ever in the history of British Cinema.
@bazzathefourth She was only half naked. She had a stunt butt. Seriously. She was pregnant at the time and didn't want to show her little mama tummy so they got someone else to do the waist down shots.
@bazzathefourth Nice one bro` ! You saved me having to correct the details ! It`s almost so idintical to the "Wickerman" version it could almost be a sample with the synth and vocals added ! By the way ! The scenesfrom the "Rear" were actually a stripper from Edinburgh or Glasgow maybe ! Seen the documentary about it ! "The Cult Of Wickermen" ! Peace Ye`all !
This is actually a cover of a song from the movie "The Wickerman" starring Christopher Lee. The woman that sung the original was completely nude and casting a spell. She was Mick Jaggers wife at the time and he was so pissed about it that he demanded it be removed from the movie, but to no avail lol!
I Love her voice!!

Covers are usually an abomination but this was pretty faithful.
The full lyrics are also worth researching - too rude for the time, but hardly so today.

The Sneaker Pimps also cover another song from the film The Wicker Man they called "Johnny". In the movie it is known as "Gentle Johnny".

her voice doesn't contain that erotic, resonant, roundness. it doesn't suit this song.
