It isn't "spit out coffee funny" but it makes me smile. The blocking of scenes seems different in this one. The stack of kegs on the truck has to be one of the biggest props used and one of the widest shots filmed. Following the worker through the door at the start is unique. A golf course and the rolling kegs don't appear in any other films. The genuine outdoor feel of the rolling kegs scene is nice. The boys keep things moving. They had to end it some how, so the end is fine IMHO.
I was honestly thinking of doing the reviews myself because I also have the entire Three Stooges collection and thought they deserved some reviews. Glad to see I'm not the only die-hard fan out there. Keep this up! Subscribing
This is one of my all time favorites. I freaking love it, the Stooges trying to play Golf without any idea of the rules provides so much laughter. Curly cutting down the tree to get his ball back kills me every time. Plus the ending with the barrerls is fun too.
The mayhem at the end where they wreck the golf course and run away from the beer barrels is pretty funny. If only the entire short were that funny. I give Moe and Larry 2s. Curley gets a 3 from me. I give it a 2 for pretty girls; the chicks they run into on the golf course are pretty hot but they're barely in the film, while the supporting cast gets a 2 from me as well. So all in all I give it a 17. About as middle-of-the-road as any of the shorts you guys have reviewed so far.
I give this short a 2 for plot, dialogue, and general slapstick/comedy, because plotwise, they could have done a lot more; they could have had the stooges partake in the tournament itself rather than rehearsing, and it probably would have been a lot funnier; I thought this short took forever to get going and build momentum, which is why it was only moderately funny for me.
Yes, and there are a couple of MGM movies they were in at that time - and some TV appearances and a pilot later on with Shemp, and they did some commercials in the Joe DeRita days that are priceless - but let's see if we can get through this massive collection first!
13:22 of my life that I'll never get back. 10:22 too long. Blame the director or the writer, not the Stooges. The father needs to speak more clearly (lisps), and the son needs to sit still and stop waving that pen around. It's a camera not a mirror. And kill those Rhode Island accents.

Did you ever think of reviewing the early Ted Healy and the Stooges shorts (there were only about three or four of them, but still....)
