  • Let one of your friends listen to this video but don't let them see what it is. The will probably think it sounds perverted.

  • go ahead and go ahead......

  • He said Notch :D

  • this one and half the others have an error on them

  • i think the box gonna crumble

  • Does it matter what way the rams face ????

  • @hirvikumbbaa your welcome :)

  • @hirvikumbbaa no, if you get 8gb or less, get it in two chips, if you want 4gb, get two 2gb's. if you want 8gb, get two 4gb chips. if you want 12, get 4 3gb chips (for a dual channel board, you can put three in, but it wont work as well, put either 2 chips or four for a dual channel board. ) if you want 16 gb, get either 2 8gb (only if your board can handle it and you can find the right RAM,) or 4 4gb chips.

  • @hirvikumbbaa yes, dual channel boards use 2 ram chips or more, if you get below 8gb then you should only put two chips in.

  • NOOOO dnt break the box :[

  • @mlgprox1 that is absolutely fine and better than his config as he only has one gb of ram...

  • NOTCH! MINECRAFT PUN!

  • why should i always go ahead??????

  • he is using ddr3 800

    im using ddr3 2200

  • @ChristianHeard1 hes using ddr2 800.

  • go ahead and then go ahead :D

  • Stick o' RAM... sounds like an advertisement for some weird type of butter

  • WHY ARNT YOU GROUNDING ARGGHHHH

  • @FishcakeGaming I'm more concerned that he's using what looks like the motherboard box as a table. Ram shouldn't have been that difficult to insert, but the box caused the board to flex... Never a good thing

  • hey man can put only one stick of ram in my desktop its 2gbs but i only have one stick is that ok?

  • @mlgprox1 Yeah it's ok

  • @mlgprox1 no, you need to check if it is a dual channel or a triple channel memory motherboard/cpu your computer wont even turn on normally if you only have one stick of meoy in it.

  • @iNewjy the CPU is towards the center of the MoBo?

  • To anyone about to take advice from this video.... DON'T!!!!

At least put your motherboard on a hard surface before forcing your ram in like he did.

  • To anyone about tio take advice from this video.... DON'T!!!!

At least put your motherboard on a hard surface before forcing your ram in like he did.

  • so go ahead and whatshuwecallit, blow me

  • you are ready to move on to your next component hahahahaha hey but to be honest this is a good video...im learning alot! thanx

  • first thing i ever did was put in ram. i wasss sooo unsure if i was doing it right do to how hard you had to push. amazed it doesnt break the mother board.

  • Poor quality motherboard. What brand is it?

  • Notch is on my motherboard!?

  • @ImTheBatchMan Bad pun. -.- Herobrine is coming to get you for that.

  • thanks bro i go ahead

  • @inewjy what @makerzgtf said :)

My motherboard is dual channel, and it is important to place it in slot 1 and 3, then 2 and 4. Proximity to the cpu is irrelevant.

  • I think is better to install the motherboard in the pc and then install the ram.

  • Red has to be one of the worst PCB colors ever used its so fking ugly and does not go good with the black capacitors, resistors, sata connection ect cause they are usally black sorry let me rephrase that only the sata connections can really be diff color, i like black PCB with red connections and a bit o white

  • @Mooseguy15 That's your opinion, not his.

  • i hate putting the ram in, it requires a lot of pressure.

  • @ryangamv8 Not at all, lol. If they are hard to get in, then you must be doing it wrong.

  • @ThePunkfisk I didn't really put that correctly i hate putting in ram because i'm afraid of snapping the sticks because they're so flimsy.

  • @ryangamv8 True :P

  • this guy thinks his audience are stupid ppl... 0:35 to 0:45 ...

  • @rui278 Hey , come on! give the guy a little credit.. i mean. his tutorial is detailed and he explained it wisely ;)

  • @GHzSnakeLegend true, the tutorial is good, and it is wel explained, but cmon, if you are building a PC and you can't figure out the parts in 0:35 to 0:45 by yourself, maybe you shouldn't be building a PC by yourself... just let the good people at your local PC store do it...

  • shit i bulid it on a fluffy carpet! I didn't knew about the static eletricity! xO

how do i get rid of THAT?!

and since im in europe, theres no 3rd plug, only 2! .. ..so plugging in the pc WONT WORK!

    plz anyone help?!

  • @Phenom69ll Well... you can buy some anti static gloves and an anti static mat. I'm not sure of a store where you could buy that in Europe, because I'm in the US. I'm not sure about what to do on the power since you have only 2 plugs...

  • I have a slow computer with only 1 GB ram. And my brother has a computer almost the same as my computer (not 100 procent the same parts i think), but he dont want to have the computer so he is selling it to me. Can i just take the 1 GB ram out, and put in my own, turn on the computer, and it will now have 2 GB ram? Or does it have to be installed, or something els to think about so it will work? thanks

  • @Learncountriescom it depends if your motherboard can handle it but most motherboards can handle at least 2gb so it should be fine.

  • you do one side then the other dont push down on both

  • soo many sexual innuendoes i lost count lol

  • is there any rule that you have to do all the work on that motherboard box.

  • @thenewboston isn't it better to have the motherboard on the table?

  • If you're a beginner builder, this guy forgot to add this in the video: the RAM sticks closest to the CPU get processed first. If you have 4 slots, and 2 sticks, put the 2 sticks in the slots that are closest to the CPU.

  • @iNewjy thanks, im building my first computer in a few days

  • @iNewjy Thanks for the tip =)

  • @iNewjy WRONG. You put them in the two matching colors. It does not matter which set you use.

  • @iNewjy not 100 percent true.from what ive seen.some motherboards recommend you put it in slot 2 and 4 or 1 and 3 or like you said 1 and 2....read the instructions for the motherboard and it will tell you

  • @iNewjy even though it processes the first 2 slots on a 4 slot motherboard you should have a gap in between them for cooling purposes

  • @sprtn1107

Well, good RAM doesn't need that, else the dimm-slots would be further away, don't you think?

Anyhow, if you plan to overclock the RAM, then it is a smart idea.

Do you think I should do the same?

    I got an ASRock mobo with 4 Dimm-slots and 2x 2GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator RAM @ 1600 MHz (stock)

  • @iNewjy Not always, you have to install them in the slots with the same color.

  • @iNewjy Not all mother board have that capabilities. i have a MSI h55 gd65 and the slots were arranged differently. (closest to cpu.) it was 2,1,4,3. Its better to refer to the manual to find out.

  • @iNewjy

i would recommend to put them into the 2 same coloured slots...!

  • @iNewjy Actually, that depens on what motherboard you have. :)

  • @iNewjy no you put them in dual channel....so first slot, skip one, then the third slot. Or if you have 6 go every other slot with the three sticks

  • @iNewjy ...not always because most motherboards nowadays are either dual channel or triple channel. Also different brands use different spacing and color coding for the primary channels.

  • @iNewjy wrong, put the firsts tick in bank 1 and the second in bank 3, this is for newer mainboards, its usually marked with blue (1 & 3) and white (2 & 4) banks. if you have 3 chips, put them in 1, 2, and 3. i may be wrong but i trust the guys a toms hardware for the most part that moderate the website.

  • @MildGamer001 Your right. There isn't any truth in what that guy said. Memory is assigned to processes that are running on the computer, no stick of ram is processed first, all ram is considered to be a single block of memory by the computer, with a controller managing the ram and providing access to it when required. The reason for spliting the ram in the way you said is for dual channel memory.

  • @iNewjy but it wont run in dual channel mode then?

  • I love the reggae themed CPU cooler cables

  • @sam22112211 There is a reaggae party in his case!

  • 1:10 ...thts what she said

  • does it mader which way the ram is facing when u install it?

  • @200dilan YES lol match the little indents

  • @MrDonkeydevil 1-4 hrs.

  • Thanks for making these vids, will really help me tomorrow when i build my new computer!

  • me 2 :D

  • Installing the ram is easy.

  • lol this is so old

  • if i have ram that already came with the computer and buy another module do i have to take the old one out or can i just use both?

  • @Chamillitary626 you can use both depending on what computer you have you might want to get the same speed but can use 2 diffrent speeds as long as its the same type your mother board uses

  • @Chamillitary626 You can use both but make sure that the one that you will get fits into your motherboard.

  • @Chamillitary626

    Depends on the computer.

  • That heatsink is terrible.

  • stop saying go ahead

  • the heatsync is too big its touching the ram...its gonna melt it O_O

  • @nikkolei Lol it totally looks like it.

  • @AnimeLuv3rr lol

  • Only two RAM slots... :(

  • @Thecashflowman if you mean making videos on youtube then yes, but you have to have a decent amount of subscribers and more then 2,000 and you have to apply for partnership

  • you should put it in your computer case first before putting anything on the montherboard

  • you so rough on your items FUCK ! who agrees

  • @master39000 Not anyone

  • ram is easiet. just shove it in.

  • Guess you had to press harder, because it was on the box?

  • @thenewboston: I am a complete novice when it comes to building a computer and the various parts that are required. Therefore, your tutorials are an immense help. Since I am almost definitely going to undertake this building project, I am curios to know how much all the parts cost, including any incidentals.

  • they need to make ram stronger and fatter i allways break them :C and then i need to get more ram

  • i hate touching RAM cause' i always break it

  • Go ahead-go ahead-go ahead-go ahead-go ahead.( how many times you must say it??) this is the reason why the english language is poor. Learn Greek-Ancient Greek.

Expect this vety good guides. Very nice.

  • 1:33 terrible noise

  • @vis nope. U just have to do it to every other one. The slots should be in 2s. Put one stick in the very left one. Skip 1 slot (move to the other group of 2) and put it in the left one. Unless u have 4 sticks. Hell. Shuv them in.

  • im so stealing ur computer after u finish all of ur tuts so it will be a good comkputer

  • I have 4 RAM slots on my mother board do do I have to fill all of them up for it to work?

  • Hello mate great vids very helpful. 1 question about thermal grease, I've got the standard CPU fan that comes on the retail box. It's an amd dual core 5000 2.8 ghz. O noticed that the fan has thermal grease already applied but it's like dry pad. So do I need to apply anymore thermal grease or will this be enough

  • Go ahead and go ahead then go ahead, after that go ahead!

    XD

  • I have a windows 32-bit XP, with 4 of those sticks that add up to 2gb of ram. I know my computer is limited to 4 gb of ram, so i want to upgrade. Does that mean I have to buy 4 of those sticks with each being 1 gb each?

  • @mefirez66 No They Have sticks that are 2gb each. and even a RAM stick that is straight 4gb. so its perfect for you. But It may cost alot more, but its worth it. :D

  • @mefirez66 as long as they add up to 4gb its fine

  • maaaaaannn... great!

  • RAM is the easiest to install in my opinion.

  • @PwningIRL It the 2nd easiest 1st is the graphic card because the ram ehhhh it kinda scary. Why? FEEL LIKE YOU GONNA BREAK SOMETHING

  • @ViEtxHuE2

Hah I guess, but the only thing is that when you're working with RAM it's only like 50 bucks for 1 gb, but when you're dealing with graphics cards, it's like 150 bucks for 1 gb.

  • @PwningIRL True

  • shit christ old cheap and/or old mobo, only two ram slots?

  • @MolotovDaSkwerl

    Video Released: November 17, 2008

  • the mother board looks like a city

  • @torterra165 i know thats what i thought!

  • @torterra165 xD yeah like all electronic plates :P

  • @torterra165 Favorite part of it.

  • @torterra165 It sure does! XD

  • @torterra165 in what way?^^

  • @torterra165 Yeah, and in the center (the CPU fan) looks like it would be a baseball or a football stadium. xD

  • how do you know what way to put it in (like which way the sticker side faces)

  • in my motherboard, i could fit 4 rams but i only have two :(

  • LOL ....the reason he has to press down so hard is because he is installing these components in his motherboard on top of the empty cardboard box his MB came with..

  • handling ur stuff kinda rough dont you think?

  • dude u have 823 videos, do u make one like every 12 hours?????

  • omg ram hurts my fingers! its so thin

  • lol ram and grachic card is only things i need for my computer

  • i just had a small a small earthquake!!

  • Be careful not to press too hard or you could get a stress fracture...That would destroy your motherboard.

  • what i need to Build a Computer - 17 - Installing the RAM PLEASE TELL MEEE

  • yea, thats pushing a little hard, seat it firmly and push the banks up if they dont pop into place on their own.

  • OMG THATS A BIG FAN FFS

  • Lol i have a bigger it barrely fits in my chassi

  • That's what she said.

  • you are pushing too hard +_+

  • That's what she said

  • i like your motherboard :P

  • does this guy know anything about static electricity? lol : )

  • @nightmare667711 no :))

  • i always though a motherboard looked like newyork

  • "ill just put the mobo on the box that can bend"

    retard.

  • one thing he should of done is put the motherboard on the table. not smart to put it on the box.

  • @M2sterK1lla

he's got an antistatic thingy under the mobo, its the same mobo colour... look close, left side of our pov on the mobo

  • I hate installing RAM. I always think I'm going to break something...

  • I know how you feel.

  • @jasonblake49

im with you. afraid of applying as much pressure as you need. always seems like its too much eh?

  • @jasonblake49

i know what you mean.... ussually after one install its easier though

  • @jasonblake49 Lol I always think the same thing!

  • @jasonblake49 You are preaching to the Choir , Im always nervous like oh shit did i break it, then im like wheew!!

  • @jasonblake49 lol i never do

  • @jasonblake49 it's a cheap part anyways:D

  • Don't forget to earth yourself before you touch the RAM otherwise any static that is in your body will fry your memory

  • touching the case is enough right? or your radiator?

  • @rocketnater

No, if you have a certain speed of RAM "usually the max for the board" there will be a note on the box of the mobo saying "DDR(x) 1066 (or other speed) is only supported by one DIMM per channel due to CPU limitations" That means to get full bandwidth of fast RAM, you will need to put one in each channel. It does not matter how much you have in a channel in that aspect

  • rocketnater, I looked it up the other day, each color IS the channel, so if you buy some RAM and your motherboard says "XXX speed supported by only one DIMM (RAM stick) per channel) and you have 2 sticks of RAM that speed, you would put one in each color to get the max speed.

  • does that motherboard have onboard video?

  • nice man now i have to confidence to make a computer =P

    Woah bessy!

  • Comment removed

  • its realy dont mean enything. i know i have been making computers for a couple of years and ill just install them randomly and just give a fuck about the slot i use.

  • after the ram is attached do u have to download like software to your computer

  • no

    you dont need to

  • See your MB Manual, there is no standard colors for specific RAM types or so...

  • I think it has SOMETHING to do with the channels? but I'm not entirely sure

  • RAM bank? does that mean I will get more RAM over time with interest? :P

  • this made me smile :)

  • u should be doing this on a surface with no give so that it is easier to install and so the motherboard doesnt bend

  • Old meme is old.
