They use real tire squealing.

I live near a rather treacherous intersection, and periodically I hear tire squeals that sound almost exactly like they do in GT4 and Prologue. Even from a Buick!

I wish Forza 2 and 3 sounded that good, but unfortunately, they used a Buick with low pressure tires to record samples, so everything sounds like a truck.
