Yes, we see the world the way our brain shows it to use (from taking in photons at the eyes and decoding that information ect). However the information that is presented to our eyes does not come from within ourselves. It comes from the physical matter around us. Photons bounce off of physical matter. This guy has no clue what he is talking about.
This guy was just plain idiotic. Dreams are not real, they are manifested by the mind. Our world is real, we do not manifest it with our minds, it is there. The only thing we do is observe it. All the the matter in the universe is there, regardless of who you are.
You're amazing. I'd comment what is on my mind.. but its currently 2 am and I cannot keep my mind straight. But this video changed everything for me. Thanks :)
Why is a constant real? Cause, a scientific fact is also that time doesn't exist the way people usually experience it. We all have our own time. If you could run somewhere even near the speed of light, your time would run a little slower than mine, cause I'm only walking normally (and, yes, speeding through the universe at an unknown speed :P).
Everything we experience as solid or dense is the electro magnetic repulsion between two "solid surfaces", I believe. Nothing actually touches anything and with out electro magnetism all life and all structure could not be, it would fall through itself, there could be no gravity because there is no mass to be perceived from any "solidity".
real is an adjective, a property of reality which is a noun. like any other words they are social constructs created by human minds to fulfill a certain purpose, which in your case is conveying this idea of Ultimate Reality. the problem with Ultimate Reality is that no one has ever seen it, seeing as human perception is always situation-specific and relative to the point of observation. this eaves us in a solipsist loop completely detached from whatever it is out there shining light on me.
I'd say that there are two realities, based on who you're talking to (supported solely by the time-worn beliefs that typically govern what real and unreal demonstrates to the human mind).
If we were dogs, there would be no existential reality to speak of, we would not know of abstract concepts like honor, or quantum physics. We would only know what exists to us. If that dog can't distinguish between reality and the unreal, who's to say that the unreal exists at all? It's just perception.
Also watch some stuff on David Wilcock, that is if you haven't yet. His Lucid Dreaming experiences and the ways they have effected his life is just scary, but in a good way, you know? =D
Dreams are as real as you want them to be, your belief in the word "real" (Which is a word that us humans just scribbled down) is pretty real correct? Think about how confident you are about the world "real", you're confident that you know a summed up definition of it, and you're confident on where do place it within a phrase or sentence. That is the confidence you should have toward "knowing" that dreams are so much more than just images in our head. =)
I don't know if you've heard about it, but there's this one play by Calderón de la Barca called "Life is dream" ("La vida es sueño" in it's original language, spanish) which basically talks about a man that is imprisoned and made to believe for one day that he is the king of his homeland. Afterwards he falls asleep again and realizes that he's back in prison and it's all been "a dream". On the next comment I'll give you the best quote in the play. ;)
I had my first 3 lucid dreams this morning. So excited, I just had trouble manifesting something, but the lucid dream part was easy. learned a couple of secrets too. lofl, the best thing I did with my life was learning how to lucid dream. It is definitely worth it after 4 months. looked so vivid, and the emotions were strong.
i believe that real is only what the the observer thinks is real, if there were no observers than nothing would be real.the real can probably be defined as what happened. if twp trucks collided and people talk about then it really happened, in the future its impossible to tell what is real because there is infinite possibilities.
I've had more than a few dreams where I had full physics (inertia, gravity, momentum) and when I hit something it felt hard and sudden not like la dee dah floaty stop to the surface end. no it was like WHUMP THUD. and like ow ok that should've hurt even wierder is that one time I was stuck ALONE in a warehouse like place back room.. and was trying to climb the wall and I couldn't make one inch up it on top of that my nails got ground down with trying to grip to the concrete and chalkboard wall
I also have been wandering around sometimes thinking "what if this is not real" maybe not like if it was a dream, but just is this real. what defines real etc. We think this is real because we have learned from adults when we were kids, that it is real. We can feel and touch and smell. But now in lucid dreams, that is possible too?
So what IS real life anymore. I think its fascinating
Your videos are really interesting and philosophical. I enjoy hearing what you mean about such things as these, well I have been spending 2 hours or something watching different videos from you, from like 2007 to 2009. And now this one. I have heard it before but I got truly interested in lucid dreaming right today. Its almost magical to me.
I think everything is possible pretty much. And why shouldnt the waking life be a dream when the dream is considered fake
I have a question, I had this dream where I was on a vacation to the gulf of mexico on a beach when I went to find my lil bro and the world started to end. Right when I needed to become lucid , I didn't become lucid. Any tips on becoming lucid when you want to?
First off, I absolutely love your videos! Well, I had a dream the night before last, where I was in place or space, in which I felt and saw everything happening at once. I mean Everything! Every event and moment in "time". It felt strangely familiar! As I'm writing this I had a deja'vu where I remember writing this to you. hehe! Anyway, in this dream, someone was telling me there i no such thing as time but only the "experience" of it. What is your take on this Reece?
To be perfectly honest, I couldn't care less if my dreams are real or not. The reason why I care a lot more about my waking it is the one reality where whatever I do will affect my future in this reality. All the others are temporary experiences, which is why they should be seen as less important. When we get hurt in dreams, we see it as unimportant because it is simply temporary.
if both reality and the land of dreams are both ilusions then what is real and is this all a dream aswell? this is a valid question and heres the difference tru reality you can be ingerd and you feel normal like a non lucid dream. dreams you cant be injured and can become lucid or in control
have you ever had the feeling that you had memories associated with a certain dream world or that you remembered previous events referred to in a dream that did not happen in your waking life but somehow you feel like there is a back-story associated with that dream world. Although why are we in this world now and this seems to be the primary realm I mean for gods sake we are typing to each other so this must be somewhat real or we are just consulting with our own mind or.......am I alone....
@NitroTractor well sort of actually the deja vu I have in waking life is more like premonitions than what I have actually explained in the previous post.
You're a smart guy, and I believe every word you're saying. I've tried Lucid Dreaming with those songs you listen to with headphones in at night, falling asleep with no thoughts roaming. I guess it worked. I need to try this again.
And on top of that, you're quite attractive. So you have my attention sir.
There is a flaw in your argument. If you, Reece Jones, die in this physical reality it still exists for every other human. The physical is something that exists independent of you experiencing it. This reality has rules, can be predicted, and so we call it "real".
"Both are real or both are unreal"? is the wrong question. It's which is more objective and predictable. It's not black and white as you make it out to be. BUT.. dream, physical, and non-physical realities all have their strengths.
In non-dual spiritual teachings - real means that which never changes, that which is before, during and after every event. Everything else is unreal, the proof being that you can never hang on to it. Everything material and immaterial has a beginning and an end ..... even mountains and most certainly thoughts and feelings and the various situations we find ourselves in. They all come and go and there is nothing we can do about it.
Humm, I always thought if there are colours and radiations that our eyes can't see, so there must be realities our brain can't understand =) and when we are sleeping the brain becomes more active, it's like, when you are awaken your brain is asleep, but when you fall asleep, is when you truly awake xP
reality is anything currently within your perception, and that includes thought. If you perceive a tree, a person, an idea, then it's real, if something is currently out of your perception then it's ceasing to exist until it is in your perception.
I believe waking life is the evolution of our consciousness in the alchemy of time. The term real should not be used as it only creates distinction between one thing and another.
"what is reality" Reality is not static, it is dynamic and dependent entirely on someone's belief system. So if someone believes in god then to them god is part of their dynamic reality, to an atheist god wouldn't be part of their reality.
david icke said reality is whatever we think it is. But actually my opinion is that only consciousness is real, the rest is a game, all the worlds, planets, shapes, bodies are a game. They are real yet they are illusions. Just like a video game or a virtual game where you put a helmet on, you know it's an illusion yet you can choose to think that it's real, I personally choose to think it's real even if I know it's a game. Am I making any sense? :))
The diffrence between dream world and this world is that ,Dream world you can control anything you want your like your own God there, this world you cant control things the same way you do in dreams.
REAL is an unmoveable, unchangeable material entity that exists outside our perceptions and observations, and we have no power to influence this entity in any way. Nothing exists outside of the mind perceptions and observations to the best of our knowledge. In order for some-thing to exist it needs to be observed by the observer who then processes it through the mind. This is why meditation is so important. If thats the case neither you nor I are "real". Are u dreaming me or am I dreaming you?
What you talked about in the beginning reminds me a lot of the "brain in a jar" hypothesis. Since we perceive with our mind, there's no way to be sure whether our perceptions are in fact, reality, or just the mechanisms of our brain.
real is that, that exists. our bodies for exampe exist only for certain time, those they are not real, but they appear to be real for the time of their existence. The time factor is an important part of reality. If smth. exists eternaly, then it is real. Oh, it´s really not easy to explain, because of so many paradoxes. Thats why distinguishing between illusion and reality is real science.
What you said about touch, I completely agree. A example of an illusion is The Aristotle illusion : cross your fingers. And touch your nose with the crossed fingers. It gives a illusion that you have two tips on your nose. It makes me question what we really feel and what are brain tells us what we are feeling.
If you didn’t have that filtration that avoids you seeing UV and other rays and waves, we could not distinguish colors as we see them now. We probably could not distinguish the bright poisonous plants in nature, between the darker edible greens.I believe that we developed this filtration threw evolution to become more aware of the important wavelengths and filter out the unimportant. A sort of niche to expand a humans lifespan and avoid dangers.
Reece, you'd love a independent film called 'Waking Life'. It's about this guy stuck in a lucid dream and he talks to various people along the way about their views on life. Check it out. As I said, I think you'd really enjoy it.
I have a question for you, have you ever read the last Harry Potter book? (not because of your accent, but because Harry has an 'experience' that seems relevant to this video.)
I have a question for you, have you ever read the last Harry Potter book? (not because of your accent, but because Harry has an 'experience' that seems relevant to this video.
@ReeceJones87 Hey man, I personally get haunted with this thought .. "Everything is a dream, Life is a dream" .. Have you seen the movie "The Butterfly Effect" awesome movie, just for people like you ..
Im going W.I.L.D tonight :D. I'm 13 so i hear younger people have a better chance of lucidity. And I am SUPER creative so i think mine will be awesomee. If i do realize it could be a dream, im going to try to walk up a wall. walk through walls. Do great at volleyball games. fly, make the grass blue and sky green... And i hear you can walk into other peoples dreams, but I don't believe in that...I'm christian lol. But if i can, i want to walk in my best friend's dream and have Girls night out. :)
I will tell u an idea, to find out if all this is real.!! Y dont bang ur head very hard on the wall..see if reality is a dream. May be u will wake up.!!! Or better read someone like U.G.Krishnamurti..u will hv a rude awaking.
That's a redundant point. If I banged my head on a wall in a dream, it would still hurt. But thanks for the recommendation, I'm checking him out now :)
I need help with lucid dreaming, i've had 3, they we're all really short, I just had one, and it was a normal dream untill i became lucid, then my vision stopped but my audio intake went on, i was staring at a carpet, and someone was speaking, i shouted "CLEAR!" and "STOP!!!" to try and change what was going on, but I woke up, and ideas on what to do?
Dreams are the connection of you to your many different alternative selves. They are kind of probability systems with selves sent by the soul. I suggest the movie Mr. Nobody. It shows clearly how it all works.
again sorry, i kno im just poking holes in everything you just said and that must irritate you, i mean no offence i am only trying to express some of my own views on the matter. also sorry if you couldnt understand what i said i like you have all these thoughts in my head but unfortunately unlike you, expressing them and being able to make other people understand them also is not one of my strong points.
i agree with everything you say and im not trying to shatter everything you have just said (i am merely trying to fuel the question in a sense haha ) but after you talking about how "quantum physics" proves all of this, how can we say that quantum physics is "real". i am aware there are many scientific evidence to prove this but have we not already found so much evidence tht science is basicly just like another religion, trying to give definition to things that cant always be defined.
We live in a realm of infinity, who's to say anything is not real? Have you ever thought of how we go to sleep in the complete darkness and can still dream about a bright sunny day? All I know is I am very real, and all my thoughts, feelings, and actions are real to me, whether I'm in a dream or anything else.
I was just thinking about this the other day. In almost the exact words too. What started it was the very intense deeply emotional dream I had about a past friend and me. When I woke up I looked around and what I saw seemed less real than what had happened in the dream so I started putting things together and what I got was about the same as this. Not that I didn't know that before but that I needed to re assure myself, sort of. It was weird, but got even stranger when I saw the person that day.
After about 3 months of "practice" I was able to lucid dream and I had a couple of crazy adventures. At one point I was "confronted" by these two menacing warrior creatures that never communicated with me but I could tell they had hostility towards me. At one point I yelled"You can't even do anything to me anyways!" and then all of a sudden I was woken from my half-sleep by the feeling of a sharp pain, like a spider bite. Ever since then I have not been able to lucid dream... Real? don't know...
7:52 "Everything in the universe is pretty much empty."
And vibrating like a bitch. Which thus makes it "solid", which thus makes it "real". If there were no such manic vibrations keeping reality as it is, we'd all be dead.
@SomethingSea1 for example, when a fan is blowing on high speed, you don't say it is a solid circle, because there is empty space in between the blades. the vibration factor does not mean everything is solid. everything is a moving everchanging dance of electrons
Reality... that which is consistent, and verifiable by multiple sources as having the same occurrence. By this definition, reality is a limited spectrum of experience.
The first wave of verification comes from one's senses. A brick. You see it, verification one. You touch it, verification two. ... not really thinking of further verifiers.
The second wave of verification is others' senses, and the more the better. This is similar to the first wave, just more of it, from other people.
^_^ Hi Reece. Got into the Lucid Dreaming research from seeing your videos, and what you're discussing right now is exactly the subject I've been wondering about. *sigh* :-)
This reminds me of a very "crazy" dream I had 2 nights ago. I literally had 6 dreams within each other, and I had never experienced this before in my entire life. Every time I woke from a dream I found myself to still be dreaming. It happened 6 times in a row and by the third dream I was literally questioning myself if I was going crazy because I couldn't tell dream from waking state any longer. I became lucid in the 4th and 5th but lost it during the 6th. Then went to sleep and woke! Good vid!
dreams are in your head. they cant affect the outside world. sure you could argue that your waking life reality is created in your head too. but what about your interactions with others? you cant interact with waking life friends in your dreams. so if dreams are real then you could say that any thought someone has is real. if someone thinks of committing a violent act.... it didnt really happen. anywhere outside their own head.
what about the fact that dreams dont change any events in your waking life? no matter what happens in your dream, your waking life remains uneffected. you can say the dream "changed" you... sure. but im talking about your interactions with others or events in your waking life dont change. if you want to say that dreams or real, then you have to separate your waking life reality as one reality and the dream reality and a different reality that has no affect on your waking life's reality.
An also, i believe both our dreams and our waking life can be constant, but maybe our dreams have different physics, so it's constant on a different scale. Dreams aren't so random that they're completely incomprehinsible. But maybe our deeper sleep is so incomprehensible because of its inconstancy that we can't recall or understand any of it.
My take on reality is that experience is real, and unreal would be something unimaginable, since even te imagination is real and can affect the world in a visible way. However, I differentiate physical experience from non physical experience so as to not make it so confusing.
Physical experience is waking life experience (apparently ruled by invisible laws of some kind), and non-physical experience is everything else (thought, imagination, creativity, etc).
I have thought about this before on my own. And my definition of reality is anything that we percieve. Anything our brain recieves as information can be defined as our personal reality. Maybe reality is different between each person
Splendid statement of Truth reguarding the Quantum Physics correlation in dreaming. But please my Fellow Human Spirit, beware the Cosmic Bubble, as you clearly understand "manifestation" (very good!), for you are exactly correct that ALL cosmic dimensions are an "illusion", but the scientists also conclude that the universe WILL collapse/dissolve. So, I pine for you to apply your ability to "understand" to the "pure wave" Light Realm... and it's clear role as "Source" of All That Is~
Can somone help me out iv been able to lucid dream loads lately since friday every time i lucid dream i had one today i i got tired went to sleep at 12:00 afternoon i had a lucid dream i could also hear like wind in my ear and vibrations i seem to be getting that lot's aswell But im having trouble for some reason when i turn lucid i i swallow and it stops my dream then i go back into another one. I try so hard not to swallow but i just do it's so annoying can somone pls give me some tips
i definatly see your point. However, i find it more way more likely that what we experience in waking life because because we have more constants in life. for example, gravity affecting you on earth is constant in waking life and isnt not in dream life. However, i do completely agree with you that dreams events are real just a different perception of reality.
I think that the place we go to when we "sleep" is just as real as "waking life". The only difference is that the observer's creativity is more powerful when they are "dreaming", whether they are aware of it or not (lucid/non-lucid). They create the entire dream. Laws of physics fall apart in this higher state of consciousness.
In waking life you have to compete with "other people's" intentions and expectations. So it's not as easy to get your own way. We are the co-creators of this reality.
in my mind, awake is: Yang, a stable constant, abundants, a shared reality (somthing we all can agree on). dreaming (the sleeping kind): Yin, a lack of vividity and order (laws of physics dont aply) less shared, less "real" but still real only differing in degree. to me being awake and being asleep are just 2 sides of same coin, both real only opposites that cant servive without the other. im not truly concerned with whats real only whats shared
Hey Reece. This video really made me think. I've always been a sort of philosophy person, I read Plato's writings on Atlantis, I'm in High School so, of course, Euclidean geometry, "I think, therefore I am," etc. Following this logic, I have to come to the conclusion that since our brain edits reality, and manifests dreams itself, then both our waking and asleep lives are unreal but then this begs the question, what IS real? "Me" is real, that is all that can be proven. Is this a fair statement?
@fullmetalfan32 ""Me" is real, that is all that can be proven. Is this a fair statement?"
Take it a step further. Each of us says that "'me' is real". What does that say about us? Either we're all dreaming each other's dreams, you're dreaming me, I'm dreaming you, or we're all verifiably here, perhaps.
Let's say that someone walked up to you and said that "I am real, and I'm not sure if you're real." What would you say? How would you prove that you exist?
To me, real = what(ever) I am experiencing. Simple. I think it's really easy to get away from the essential fact that what we are experiencing is OURSELF (ie: Consciousness)---OURSELF in relationship with various environments, yes, but the environments are indeed secondary.
@ReeceJones87 Hi reece i just wanted to know can you use lucid dreaming to find your past life? im pretty shore iv met my spirit guide or one of them and i asked him am i dreaming he said yes and said so why do we dream why is it so important. He then hesitated and then replied it is so we can see your future.then everything cracked up and i woke up and was like WOW! lol tb
Hi Reece I love your videos have really helped me understand lucid dreams and techniques. I've had several Mneumonically induced lucid dreams by practicing the reality check technique (Mine happened to be plugging my nose) and it's great! I'm going to continue with the MILD technique but would love to master WILD. I've tried it a few times with little luck, maybe you can explain the best techniques for WILD?
crap, i like watching these videos but i have to unsubscribe, sorry but you look like a hybrid of the person my girlfriend cheated on me with and the person she left me for. Damn i really like watching these and i have to unsubscribe because the sight makes me feel so uneasy :(
It's not a matter of whether or not it's real. The only thing that we can trust is "real" is that which we can perceive. We can widen that perception to encompass many unreal things. But only once we get over this idea of real. Think about it. Is real what we have all agreed is real? Is real what we can feel and see? Real is a state of mind. If you can perceive it, it's as real as it gets. And if you believe it's not real, you have eliminated that thing from your perception and closed your mind.
Dude, you - if you haven't already - totally need to see INCEPTION.
What about layered dreaming? Like when you wake up in a dream, thinking that you've woken up for real only to wake up for real realising that the whole thing was just a dream ...
@ReeceJones; About what you're talking about in this video, Trust me, Read a short story(48pages) by Mark Twain called 'The Mysterious Stranger' ,It is a trip.
Everyone should read it once, Amazingly simple and heavy at the same time.
Classical gnoseology recognizes that our sense-data are not "reality", but they do have a limited "foundation in reality" (fundamentum in re). But in practice, I too base my life on the reality of dreams. My experience gives me the idea that dreams, in general, tell me truth about how things really are; my waking life too often lies to me.
the experience of the infinate; the infinate momentum of now; the experience of trying to find every symmetric line in a circle, trying to find the absolute middle. so, if nothing can be encapsulated in everything, can it work the other way around? i love recurring questions, because i think 'recurring question' is the definition of 'real'.
I like what you are saying here, Reece. Your point is that due to the constraints of the human predicament, there is no clear distinction between the "real", the "unreal".
I like your reasoning and I like your logic, which is based in recieved scientific thought.
From my perspective, there is no discrepancy between real and unreal, since from a non-dualistic Buddhist perspecticve, neither"real" nor "uneal" have no inherent existance,
Certainly! I'd love to hear you elaborate from a non-dualistic Buddhist standpoint. I've always had an awful lot of respect for Siddhartha and his teachings.
i agree with somewhat of what your saying but i disagree that we are percieving things to be solid. I do believe that this is a physical world and everything is solid. its not that were being decieved by our brain. I mean dreams are real trust me but not real as in reality a drug trip isnt real. a heroin addict isnt lviing in reality there living in a dream. Its real but its not physical
@ReeceJones87 alright i see what your saying this just kinda makes me think about everything ive always known and thinking how i really dont know it. It blows my mind away
You know, this is very funny. This weekend I was thinking of making a video on this, reality and dreams, myself. And in that exact weekend, you come up with this! And I must say, I don't disagree with anything you say here.
It seems like there's been a "dream/reality" theme spreading through our consciousnesses as of late. Within the space of a week, countless YouTubers have all posted very similar videos.
Great video Reece. Could 'real' simply be the result of our perception? After all, we all experience reality only after it's been filtered through our senses of sight, touch, smell etc.
Now my theory is that because of this there is no one set thing that we can call real, or that we can call reality. We all live different realities quite literally.
@claytonbarton I'll give you an example. I take the same route to school each day with my friend. One day I see a beautiful flower as we pass by a garden, but my friend does not notice it. Now the flower exists to me, but my friend may never see it and before it withers away and dies, therefore it will never exist to her.
Or take someone who suffers Schizophrenia. It's widely seen as a disorder, but who is to say what they see is not real just because it does not exist to us?
the fact that there aren't any consequences in dreams and the fact that dreams don't usually carry over to other dreams pretty much makes them unreal.
Reece, when I'm having a Lucid Dream, I notice I remember places from previous dreams that I revisit. Can you please tell me what this might mean. This is very strange because I want to always go and pick these nice shrooms on this other mans property buy he doesn't want me there LOL! It's almost like its not a dream world its another plane of existence.
if ill kill you in waking life ull die and in some peoples opiniun ceaze to exist
in a dream ull posibly wake up
thats one one to ditinct the 2

Yes, we see the world the way our brain shows it to use (from taking in photons at the eyes and decoding that information ect). However the information that is presented to our eyes does not come from within ourselves. It comes from the physical matter around us. Photons bounce off of physical matter. This guy has no clue what he is talking about.

Kush4DaFin 11 months ago
As far as the definition of lucid dreaming: it simply means being aware that you are dreaming. That's it.
In my journeys I have discovered that all is real, and all is a dream. Interesting conversation. Thanks for posting.

MusicElskerLove 11 months ago
Your videos are really interesting and philosophical. I enjoy hearing what you mean about such things as these, well I have been spending 2 hours or something watching different videos from you, from like 2007 to 2009. And now this one. I have heard it before but I got truly interested in lucid dreaming right today. Its almost magical to me.
I think everything is possible pretty much. And why shouldnt the waking life be a dream when the dream is considered fake

ADumB42 1 year ago
To be perfectly honest, I couldn't care less if my dreams are real or not. The reason why I care a lot more about my waking it is the one reality where whatever I do will affect my future in this reality. All the others are temporary experiences, which is why they should be seen as less important. When we get hurt in dreams, we see it as unimportant because it is simply temporary.

have you ever had the feeling that you had memories associated with a certain dream world or that you remembered previous events referred to in a dream that did not happen in your waking life but somehow you feel like there is a back-story associated with that dream world. Although why are we in this world now and this seems to be the primary realm I mean for gods sake we are typing to each other so this must be somewhat real or we are just consulting with our own mind or.......am I alone....

Squippel2 1 year ago

DeathnoteBB 1 year ago
I believe waking life is the evolution of our consciousness in the alchemy of time. The term real should not be used as it only creates distinction between one thing and another.
dankluver 1 year ago
"what is reality" Reality is not static, it is dynamic and dependent entirely on someone's belief system. So if someone believes in god then to them god is part of their dynamic reality, to an atheist god wouldn't be part of their reality.
welch175 1 year ago
david icke said reality is whatever we think it is. :))

Are u dreaming me or am I dreaming you?
vanity40ful 1 year ago
What you talked about in the beginning reminds me a lot of the "brain in a jar" hypothesis. Since we perceive with our mind, there's no way to be sure whether our perceptions are in fact, reality, or just the mechanisms of our brain.

real is that, that exists. our bodies for exampe exist only for certain time, those they are not real, but they appear to be real for the time of their existence. The time factor is an important part of reality. If smth. exists eternaly, then it is real. Oh, it´s really not easy to explain, because of so many paradoxes. Thats why distinguishing between illusion and reality is real science.
Blueshine1111 1 year ago

A sort of niche to expand a humans lifespan and avoid dangers.

compound, DMT.
it occurs in all living things
during near death experiences and on the brink of actual death
dmt levels rise
when we dream those levels rise aswell
when we awaken these levels rapidly decline and that is why our rememberance of dreams can become rather fussy.

i agree with everything you say and im not trying to shatter everything you have just said (i am merely trying to fuel the question in a sense haha ) but after you talking about how "quantum physics" proves all of this, how can we say that quantum physics is "real". i am aware there are many scientific evidence to prove this but have we not already found so much evidence tht science is basicly just like another religion, trying to give definition to things that cant always be defined.

TheWingman43 1 year ago
I was just thinking about this the other day. In almost the exact words too. What started it was the very intense deeply emotional dream I had about a past friend and me. When I woke up I looked around and what I saw seemed less real than what had happened in the dream so I started putting things together and what I got was about the same as this. Not that I didn't know that before but that I needed to re assure myself, sort of. It was weird, but got even stranger when I saw the person that day.

And vibrating like a bitch. Which thus makes it "solid", which thus makes it "real". If there were no such manic vibrations keeping reality as it is, we'd all be dead.
SomethingSea1 1 year ago 10
@SomethingSea1 But the particles that vibrate are fundamentally empty
TDP788 5 months ago
@SomethingSea1 for example, when a fan is blowing on high speed, you don't say it is a solid circle, because there is empty space in between the blades. the vibration factor does not mean everything is solid. everything is a moving everchanging dance of electrons
TDP788 5 months ago
Reality... that which is consistent, and verifiable by multiple sources as having the same occurrence.

But maybe our deeper sleep is so incomprehensible because of its inconstancy that we can't recall or understand any of it.
ftkmnm 1 year ago
My take on reality is that experience is real, and unreal would be something unimaginable, since even te imagination is real and can affect the world in a visible way. However, I differentiate physical experience from non physical experience so as to not make it so confusing.
Physical experience is waking life experience (apparently ruled by invisible laws of some kind), and non-physical experience is everything else (thought, imagination, creativity, etc).
kurogogyou 1 year ago
I have thought about this before on my own. And my definition of reality is anything that we percieve. Anything our brain recieves as information can be defined as our personal reality. Maybe reality is different between each person

Splendid statement of Truth reguarding the Quantum Physics correlation in dreaming. But please my Fellow Human Spirit, beware the Cosmic Bubble, as you clearly understand "manifestation" (very good!), for you are exactly correct that ALL cosmic dimensions are an "illusion", but the scientists also conclude that the universe WILL collapse/dissolve. So, I pine for you to apply your ability to "understand" to the "pure wave" Light Realm... and it's clear role as "Source" of All That Is~

i definatly see your point. However, i find it more way more likely that what we experience in waking life because because we have more constants in life. for example, gravity affecting you on earth is constant in waking life and isnt not in dream life. However, i do completely agree with you that dreams events are real just a different perception of reality.
Wuhzam 1 year ago

Is this a fair statement?
fullmetalfan32 1 year ago

Classical gnoseology recognizes that our sense-data are not "reality", but they do have a limited "foundation in reality" (fundamentum in re). But in practice, I too base my life on the reality of dreams. My experience gives me the idea that dreams, in general, tell me truth about how things really are; my waking life too often lies to me.

we're all given brains, what controls them? maths. it either adds up to 1, or 0

the experience of the infinate; the infinate momentum of now; the experience of trying to find every symmetric line in a circle, trying to find the absolute middle. so, if nothing can be encapsulated in everything, can it work the other way around? i love recurring questions, because i think 'recurring question' is the definition of 'real'.

I like what you are saying here, Reece. Your point is that due to the constraints of the human predicament, there is no clear distinction between the "real", the "unreal".
I like your reasoning and I like your logic, which is based in recieved scientific thought.
From my perspective, there is no discrepancy between real and unreal, since from a non-dualistic Buddhist perspecticve, neither"real" nor "uneal" have no inherent existance,
Wanna talk about it?
Be happy to chat!

Certainly! I'd love to hear you elaborate from a non-dualistic Buddhist standpoint. I've always had an awful lot of respect for Siddhartha and his teachings.

@ReeceJones87 "Buddha" means "awakened one". Buddhism holds that we are all Buddhas but that most of us do not yet realise it.

i agree with somewhat of what your saying but i disagree that we are percieving things to be solid. I do believe that this is a physical world and everything is solid. its not that were being decieved by our brain. I mean dreams are real trust me but not real as in reality a drug trip isnt real. a heroin addict isnt lviing in reality there living in a dream. Its real but its not physical

But how come everything we perceive in "waking life" is made out of pretty much nothing? Atoms are 99.9% empty space...

@ReeceJones87 alright i see what your saying this just kinda makes me think about everything ive always known and thinking how i really dont know it. It blows my mind away

Nothing seems to be a defining characteristic of the universe. And, nothing is never nothing.

You know, this is very funny. This weekend I was thinking of making a video on this, reality and dreams, myself. And in that exact weekend, you come up with this! And I must say, I don't disagree with anything you say here.
I'll private comment you on this.

It seems like there's been a "dream/reality" theme spreading through our consciousnesses as of late. Within the space of a week, countless YouTubers have all posted very similar videos.

@ReeceJones87 I'd hazard a guess 'Inception' has quite a bit to do with this increase :)

And you'll also find people who went to Inception because of knowing about the dream element. I'm fascinated by it.

It's widely seen as a disorder, but who is to say what they see is not real just because it does not exist to us?
claytonbarton 1 year ago
the fact that there aren't any consequences in dreams and the fact that dreams don't usually carry over to other dreams pretty much makes them unreal.

Reece, when I'm having a Lucid Dream, I notice I remember places from previous dreams that I revisit. Can you please tell me what this might mean. This is very strange because I want to always go and pick these nice shrooms on this other mans property buy he doesn't want me there LOL! It's almost like its not a dream world its another plane of existence.

only the experience of the illusion is real, nothing else is.
b4lt4z4r85 1 year ago
If you were to use this definition then there is a difference;
Reality is something that exists not only to you, but also to those around you.
However I won't use this because dreams should be classified as reality like you said. I love your videos and hope you keep posting!
Namaste!

Isn't quantum physics a manifestation of the brain too then?
