Hey, guy! I´m actually buying this one and it´s coming without adapter (power supply)... Could you help wich adapter is more suitable for it? Ibanez AC309? Or maybe AC109? Or which original adapter comes with the new pedal? Thanks
Thanks for posting this, dude. I've been wanting a Gibson LP Studio, but I may have just been swayed towards a Carvin CS model. Nice playing, sweet looking blue. :) Is that like a satin finish?
Satin in a flamed top? That's new. Looks awesome. I'm working on getting some money together for a CS4 of mine. A bit of a nitpickity question for you, if ya don't mind: what gauge strings are you using here? I've seen several vids on here, and they look so easy to play - but anything decent is easy to play with 9s on it. :p
Also, that coil-split setting sounds amazing on that thing!
Thanks. It's actually a quit top not flame but yea I like it. I'm actually using 10's in this vid, but I have 11s on them right now (although I'm planning to settle on set of 10s by DR strings. I tried a few brands/gauges and they sound the best).
This guitar has one of the best fret jobs of all most all the guitars I've ever played, as good as the Fujigen made guitars(MIJ Ibanez) except carvin stays awesome longer coz of the stainless steel frets.
SS frets are a little more slippery compared to regular nickel frets and they are much harder metal so they don't wear out nearly as fast as the nickel frets. The up charge for SS frets is $40US but it is totally worth it. So make sure to order your CS4 with SS frets;)
Yes it is ner ner by Guthire Govan. It's is a great freakin' song!!! Guthrie is definitely one of my top five favorite guitarists along with Andy Timmons and a few others.
I am tossing around ideas for how I want my CS6. I sold my Les Paul Traditional yesterday, I was tired of dumping more money into it after doing a refret, adding a TonePros bridge and locking studs, and getting ready to replace the pickups. I have tried the CS series many times, and in no way, shape, or form, can anything made by Gibson or PRS even compare to the build quality it has. Is the finish on yours Emerald Green or Teal? I kind of like the Teal...very soothing color!
OK, my fellow players. I come back to you 8 months later with a report on my CS6 that I got during Christmas. I regret to say that I am very disappointed in it. The machine heads are gritty feeling, the guitar won't stay in tune, the action is not that great, even though I know every trick in the book about neck and bridge adjustment, and the pickups are way too hot for this thin bodied instrument. Carvin, to me, is now starting to slip into their "cut corners" phase of it's history.
@GonzGunner - Wow, that's the first time I've ever heard someone say that about Carvin (Especially one of their guitars). Hope yours was just a fluke. I know what you mean about cutting corners. Gibson and Fender both slipped big-time when they shifted production of their cheaper guitars from Korea to China. That's why the older Epiphones are better than new ones.
@gangtwanger -I hear you, man, big time. Carvin used to be very innovative, I especially liked how they used to put carbon graphite reinforcing bars in their necks, that was something you had to get custom installed. And their amps now, take a look inside, I know modern amps have PC boards, but the main circuits are connected with RIBBON CABLE..ugggggh! Big time signal crossover! And the reverb is now ELECTRONIC. No reverb tank, it totally sucks. Just makes me sad, very sad. :(
@gangtwanger -Yes, I have had it with the major guitar companies, and now, Carvin, cutting corners, making crap instruments, and charging high Earth orbit prices for them. The employees are not becoming millionaires, that's for sure. I read a online article (name escapes me, probably have to Google it) that described the Gibson Guitar Company as the # 1 WORST place to work in the United States. So much for "old world craftsmanship" That was a hallmark of the old Epiphone company.
It's called "electric gypsy" by Andy Timmons. He is an amazing guitarist with great feel. I highly recommend you check him out if you aren't already familiar with his music;)
Oh wow, I watched this whole video and didn't realize you have the same series of amp I do, except mine is the 15w.. The clean channels on these amps sounds really nice, the distortion channel is tight and good for most metal but hard to get tube amp overdrive tones from. You just really made me want that Tubeking :P
Yes, MY guitar has satin finish because I ordered it that way. But you could also get this model in gloss finish or tung oil finish( though tung oil finish cannot be combined with any coloring)
I am considering buying a tube king too (the same as the one you got), is it worth it?
Does it cover a variety of styles well (including a bit of metal) and does it maybe suck as much tone as normal solid state pedals such as boss etc? cause i kinda dig the tone of my small amp, and is it nice as a booster too?
this tubeking is not solid state, it's actually a high voltage tube preamp, just like the ones you'd find inside of a tubeamp.
Compared to normal SS pedals, it has more complex overtones. I've played satchurator extensively before I bought this pedal, and while satchurator was very good, I think tubeking beats it. I think it's the best distortion pedal I've ever played through. It has active eq too so you can control the sound quite a bit. Make sure to get the TK999HT model and not older model
I can't really say since I've never played a LP extensively enough to know much about it, BUT I can tell you that this is one of the best playing guitars I have played ever. Neck is not the thinnest around(which I like since I find thin neck guitars somewhat thin sounding too), but the fret work is SUPERB. The string height was 1.5mm at 12th fret right out of the box and no fret buzz what so ever. As far as the sound goes, it has the classic mahogany w/ set neck tone, with a lot of versatility.
Nope, it's solid 2piece honduran mahogany back. However, the body is thinner than a traditional les paul. You can find official diminsions at carvin website.
Thx, I been seriously considering a Carvin CS6 rather than a Les Paul. Seems like you can only get a real Gibson from the Custom Shop these days! And I'm really not sure how good the Custom Shop Gibbies are. Although, I do know how damned expensive they are! If I can get a good vintage Les Paul tone out of a Carvin then it's a closed deal!
Like I told someone else before, I can't really comment on how it compares to gibson les pauls since I don't have extensive experience with them. However, I can say that CS6 is a great instrument. I got mine for less than $2k, and it is built to the specs I chose with top quality craftsmanship/materials. I especially love the fact that is comes with stainless steel frets so you don't have to re-fret for long time. Check out the carvin forum if you want to find out more about it.
Song at :47? What was that. I really like it, and would love to learn it.

@RoosonProductions
It could, but depends on your setting. In this video, I'm going from clean to distortion by just touching the volume nob on my guitar.
