nice they didn't show actual footage of the game...half the sales lost instantly! - they do the same today with modern games by staging mock-ups using pre-rendered computer graphics to sell the idea of the game, great for developers a shitty little piss off for game buyers.
i always wanted one of these when i was a kid , but never got one, you see my parents didn't care back then, but i used to watch the newspapers and dream about having one
I had the Atari 2600, and the game "combat"( which I think two tanks faced each other). I also loved the game "Adventure" where you had to get a gold key from a room. Does anyone remember these?
@VanSweringenFilms I never had Atari 2600 but a friend down the street had one and I used to go over there to play it.....never played Combat but I did play Adventure....that was a little like Nes Gautlet....
I had all four of these games at one time......they sat in storage for about 25 years and then a few years ago I sold Galaxian and Donkey Kong on Ebay......I still have Pac Man and Frogger......
Cool....a coleco commercial! Really cool games, but if you have the chance, try to get an exemplar of coleco´s ZAXXON....truly the best tabletop-version of all games!
I got the Frogger mini arcade game for Christmas 1983. I really wanted it because I thought I could hide under the after bedtime and secretly play Frogger all night long...I didn't realize how LOUD the volume was and you couldn't shut it off OR lower it! You could here the music a mile away! Plus, after playing it for about an hour...It got real old, real fast. I still have it though, still works too.
I remember getting into a bit of mischief with my Mom when I was in school & got my butt thrown into the Prinicipal's office when they called Mom to school because I got caught for playing video games in class.Hee, hee. On the way home my Mom says, From now on those video games of yours stay at home! I said, But Mom they're portable! (I was ahead of GameBoy). I don't care! Those video games don't leave ever leave my sight! She won the war. I give five stars,I added this to my favs.
But notice how they don't show you how crappy the video game play was on these things. I'm sure many a kid were totally pissed off on Christmas morning after firing these bad boys up... like, totally!
OH HELL NO!!! PISSED??? Never!! I played Frogger and Pac Man for hours, they were GREAT!! Of course when I got these I was about 9 years old, but many hours of enjoyment from these.
@chazcov08 What was really messed up was that some catalogs claimed that these played "exactly" like the real arcade games- Pac-Man was pretty disappointing but it was still fun. There was one catalog that showed a picture of the Donkey Kong game with a shot from the arcade game's screen on it, to give you the impression that's what the Coleco game looked like! I should've sued for false advertising. Got my own real Donkey Kong in 1988 though, and still have it!
Cool but weird

But you have to set it up like a Virtual Boy. So, you can't just hold it and play it, except Pac-Man.
