I would say that comes from not giving love to yourself. If you are loving toward yourself as well, you won't give of yourself to the point that you get drained. No one can be of use to others if they are drained, sick and exhausted. It's about loving yourself enough to know your limits and nurture yourself when you need to. So, again, you are the source of love.

Saying that "you're not here to get anything" is not right. The only reason to want to be the source is to get what you want yourself. And there's nothing wrong with that, it's human nature, all thought out... If everyone knows that, then eventually everyone will become sources I guess (to put it in your language), counting that everybody's will become the same eventually (wanting to give and through that recieve love) and the world will become more alike what it "should be".
In being human and a individual it is natural to have a need to find a mate and friends that we truly love and loves us in return. Sometimes I have too much anger, depression and frustration to be the source of love. I am a guy. I love my dog. My dog loves me. My dog is the 'source' of love. My dog is miracle mut. He stinks like an infected toenail but i let him lick my head. I love him more than my wife, and he knows it, but he keeps it a secret between us. He doesnt argue or complain. Its because he is the 'source' of love he gets a flame grilled rump steak for dinner and my wife and kids eat bok choy and pine nuts.

@fellums Ah, You've found the point exactly! We should not care about the blame or the credit. When we love someone or do a good deed, it should not be for the credit, we should do it out of pure love; which is the love of God, not our human love.
Likewise, we should not be burdened with permanent blame for our mistakes, but learn from them and improve ourselves.

I agree with this on principle, with one simple distinction... We are not the source of love, we are the *channel* for infinite love from God.
If we try to be the source, we deplete and injure ourselves because our lives are not infinite.
Now it's entirely possible that is what you meant to say and I just misunderstood, in which case then we agree completely. :)

To say god is the source is to take away all the blame and credit for everything we have done. We are the source, we are god, we are all one.

there is a way to change your feeling to love simply when you see that you want love ask "could i feel love for this person instead?" or something like that. Lester Levenson did it and he became enlightened very quickly.
If someone is interested i can send them the story of Lester and how he did it.
It is so beautiful and indescribable i wish everyone can experience it.

Sometimes i'm less loving but i try to be friendly to everyone as best i can.
I'm grown without love i'm a tough guy so that makes it's my biggest challenge to feel.

Ha ha ! Good cat analogy. Been on both sides of that fence. You know how criticism can be constructive or destructive? I was just wondering if when you feel you get too much (of the wrong) praise or even flattery, if you sense danger in absorbing that...Like, destructive praise...If your conscience tells you to watch out. Don't let people (unintentionally) flatter you out of your good habits/maturity/enlightenment etc. Don't let a good thing sink in the wrong way.
