  • There you go u got yourself a CDL go get yourself killed

  • his name is not john. it is juan. nece try swift. come to the swift truck driving institute, where we teach you how to fuck up more equipment in a week than most drivers will in their entire career.

  • How does that guy afford that uniform on what little pay he makes? Is the company supplying these uniforms?

  • There was also one road instuctor that used a stick when you messed up. He'd smack it on the dash and yell real loud,"FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Good thing I didn't have him. Days Inn where lodging was provided the students were kept like prisoners. I lived intown and one insructer who stayed at the hotel noticed me going to a hockey game. The next day I was in the admin's office and he was telling me that I'm not allowed to leave the Hotel after class.

  • Do anubody kno anything bout KLLM

  • Well, I've got ten years left before I retire from the Air Force. I've always wanted to try trucking. Looks like fun. You guys like it?

  • @Harpooooon

Well I haven't done it yet but it's something that interests me as well. The main thing is, if you have a family sitting at home it's probably not a good gig (unless you can do local stuff and be home every night). If you're single without kids I see no problem. Or if you're married and your kids are grown by then, probably not a big problem long as the spouse is okay with it. With little kids it would not be a great situation though, for anyone.

  • lol mikel0352 if i ever saw a swift driver training truck id get the fuck off the road quick, thats some funny shit!!

  • @sideslide23 at the rate Swift trains drivers, i don't see why they didn't hire you or at least put you with a mentor since you already had your Class A. I was turned down as well even though I had prior experience built with the company. All because of a botched road test and the refusal of the terminal mgr to let me go out with a mentor. That company is full of shit and they probably did you a favor turning you down. Good luck.

  • @sideslide23 still no reason to bar someon new to the industry and Swift is viewed as a trainign company so based on those grounds you are employable by Swift and it is a little unfair to put others ahead of you so that is bullshit. You should have already been cleared for orientation and such along with a road test and go out with at trainer. FYI, since you might seem knew to the industry, the trucking industry doesn't seem to credit drivers with past experience so try and avoid gaps.

  • @sideslide23 just be advised the miles are NOT in general freight and Swift doesn't guarantee you enough miles to make a decent living at it. Find all the ins and outs before you even go to orientation so you are not wasting your time. You want to be on a set run within 6 mos where you know how much you will be getting paid period. The unfortunate thing is that it is a training company and that money allocated for training should be invested in their existing workforce namely the drivers.

  • @sideslide23 to my understandign there are a lot reasons why companies choose not to hire and some of that is for insurance reasons which is pretty chaotic. Big general freight companies are not money makers so at the rate you get paid with the bigger carriers, one can forget about owning their own truck. Eventually if you stay the course, then specialize in something and find the right job that fits your demands and lifestyle choice. Stay safe.

  • @sideslide23 why didn't you graduate. Only reason why I ask is because you might not fair as well at Swift. When you say designated school do you mean truck driving school. It is a 120-hr CDL course to my understanding. Only reason I see you as not graduation is if you failed to show up to class everyday or if you couldn't get the pre-trip/skills test down to get your CDL. Tell me what is going on and I'll see what advice I can give.

  • @shaithis80 I went to CDL Truck School Inc and got my class A CDL not their Designated truck school

  • @sideslide23 if you have your Class A CDL then you should be fine. You should not have had to go through another school system. At that point Werner should've did orientation and a road test.Through Swift, expect to take another physical depending on when your last one was, expect to go through their work well program which will test your physical fitness to do the job, and then you will have orientation. Be advised if you do poorly on your drive test, then they might send you out w/ a trainer.

  • @sideslide23 don't expect to make much if you go with Swift and keep getting those applications out and be prepared to jump companies and climb that pay scale. Swift is nothing but a mill and traning company and there are just not enough miles to go around. Don't let Swift run you out there. You are in control and you decide what is safe and what is unsafe. The sad part about Swift is that they govern their trucks to this day and there is no way you are going to max out your pay there.

  • @sideslide23 just make sure you know what to expect from Swift before even signing anything and read the fine print if you have to sign anything. Make some calls, talk to some drivers and ask around. With that CDL you should be able to go anywhere and it shouldn't necessarily have to be OTR trucking. Good luck to you.

  • @shaithis80 I don't have years of driving experience. every one requires dirivng experience because of their insurance policy and regulation. unless you go with the company like Swift, CR England or other that provides training, you don't drive, periode.

  • @sideslide23 that's what they all tell you.If they need the numbers they will take the chance on you. As far as the industry goes, you are entering a very corrupt industry to say the least because that is how fucked up govt has allowed it to become.Swift and CR England are probably two of the worst to work for and they are far from perfect so watch your back and keep your driving record/DAC clean & don't report minor shit or minor damage period otherwise those companies will fuck up your record

  • @sideslide23 also it is an industry that doesn't credit you with time put it. My time put in can be considered worhtless nowadays so be careful of gaps in your trucking experience. I still have my CDL as a back up but don't really like working for corrupted outfits that pay shit which is why I've diversified in other job fields so I can be home everynight and have more of a healty routine. Eat healthy and get plenty of exercise and stay out of those f'n fattening truck stops. Eat real food.

  • @sideslide23 what used to be a profitable industry is no longer the case and the insurers have probably made it worse which is probably why you have governed trucks nowadays. Swift is among many that won't guarantee you a steady check either so my advice is stay regional because it seems like nowadays it is all politics. Always leave yourself an out where you can leave on your own terms and start over if at all possible. Don't live in your truck either. Find a place.

  • @shaithis80

uh no your recent comment states that trucking is the first to see the economy bounce if thats the case regional and LTL will share the expierence OTR shouldn't get hit by it to hard

  • @Sauron767 LOL, the less people buy the less there is a need for truckers and everyone loses which is why I got away from Swift Transportation. I also have a problem with an industry that doesn't credit you for time put in or the fact that I've maintained a CDL in the event I want to get back into it. It is a biased industry and insurance has plenty to do with it which is why companies require "x" amount of years of experience with very little or no gaps. Sorry I'm not a drone.

  • @Sauron767 if all goes accordingly I'll take my CDL and eventually join up with state DOT and finish out my life doing some type of roadwork and get paid a steady wage to do that job. The OTR companies are not worth wasting time at if you are not getting a steady paycheck to begin with. That industry needs to go salary where you are guaranteed a living wage say like to the tune of $30,000/yr to start give or taken benefits/taxes/401(k)/etc. Swift just happened to rob a lot of driver blind.

  • @shaithis80

30k wtf?? i run from pa to mass 5 nights a week and make 65K every year give or take few thousands never work weekends, but again im not a overweight obbesed american i make 500 to 700 $ a week just from straight pulling of my load, 5$ a pallet 24to 28 pallets every time im going to the stop and shop, you cry and fucken complain like drivers at my job, but they dont wanna get out of the truck and pull of skidds with electric jack and tear down a layer of each skids PATHETIC USA

  • @MrPolishadam actually for that type of money I would not have minded doing just that. And yes I think $30,000/yr salary to start with applicable benefit/retirement deductions and taxes is what I'd call off to a good start. Paid by the mile nowadays is bullshit. Who said I'm complaining. I got out of that corrupted trucking business a long time ago but kept my CDL to keep my options open. Not one accident to show for on my MVR.

  • @MrPolishadam what I found comical about 2+ years of doing trucking, it didn't translate into higher pay, however I just got tired of nights. Probably should've gone with USF when I had the chance and all but I feel as if I'm more rounded out in other areas of expertise and even though Swift may have taken me places, I went further in other sectors of the workforce having my CDL as a backup. I just dislike an industry like trucking which doesn't credit you with time put in and I call bullshit.

  • @MrPolishadam if all the loads I've successfully picked up and delivered throughout the 48 states and Canada don't count for much in the way of experience even with a significant gap, that it just tells me the industry itself is corrupt. In the bigger picture, I was entrusted with up to 80,000 lbs as well as driving safely with the motoring public. Does it all mean anything or am I just starting over where my experience doesn't amount to much. My CDL is a backup at this point and nothing more

  • @MrPolishadam nowadays sacrificing myself and working hard where hours go unpaid does not make for a comfortable living. Not being allowed to use a box number for a residence just translates into getting ripped off. Perhaps driver pay should be based on where one lives. Also keep in mind that in the event people one day stop buying or govt fucks up the country and creates an anti-buying climate, then a lot of people are out of work. That is always one possible scenario and a sick system.

  • @MrPolishadam glad to hear you have a good run though. Beautiful country out that way and I've run the interstates out that way 10x over and loved every minute of it. Some in trucking and some in other lines of work. You can put Long Island and Jersey on my resume. Been there done that. Frankly I found being behind the wheel of a truck relaxing but never liked being governed at 60 MPH. Also don't like states that still haven't bumped up their truck speeds.

  • @shaithis80

governed yes at big companies, some small companies in case of the one i work for, we have 20 trucks, most governed at 75mph couple including mine are opened up, its a beautifull think coming back hiome on 84 doing 75 to 80 MPh and see the big truck companies dummies just looking nd wishing they could go that fast, its funny ashel

  • @MrPolishadam yeah one of the reasons I don't drive for the bigger companies anymore because of the bullshit and not getting the miles and always being up against the clock due to a slow moving truck. They tried to give me a local load in TX once on such short notice and the pick up/delivery time was something like 3 hours governed at 60 mph on TX highways going through every last podunk town. Though on the flip side with great speed & running your truck that high comes a lot of responsibilty

  • @MrPolishadam then the bigger problem at hand are the governed trucks that just don't go with flow of regular traffic and it also pisses me off when they cut you off in the fast lane of traffic trying to get around a vehicle moving slower then they are. Governed trucks can be quite dangerous and at the speed you are going it sucks if you have to slam on it because some slow ass trucker cut you off. Then of course you have the 55 mph states which is a bunch of bullshit.

  • @MrPolishadam one funny story there was a trucker that hammered it down by me as I crossed from Indiana into Ohio. That day I was used as a marker for Ohio Highway Patrol and that was too funny seeing the patrol car zooming past me and pulling that trucker over. So again with great speed comes great responsibility.

  • @MrPolishadam the industry is always changing so who knows, one day general freight drivers will make a steady check and perhaps companies will not over hire. Some deserve to go the way of Arrow Trucking. Next time I drive a rig if ever, hopefully it is 18 gears ungoverned where I can make good time. Perhaps by then the price of fuel would've gone down assuming we ever get the right leadership in the country then and only then perhaps everyone will profit and not get ripped off.

  • @Sauron767 Swift engaged in the practice of shaving miles from a lot of drivers and they owe a lot of people money. Eventually that company will get what is coming to them and I won't be sorry to see them go bankrupt either as a result of doing shady business with its employees etc etc. Surprisingly my MVR is still clean to this day. At the rate things are going now, if a deep recession or depression hits, then the lot of the general freight companies will be even lucky enough to survive.

  • @sideslide23 as with any job it is all tied to the economy. If people are not buying then freight can become scarce. Trucking is the first to see the economy bounce back but you will have your slow periods. Swift also has not done good business in the past so monitor your miles and expenses. On the plus side you are seeing the country so enjoy it for as long as you see fit. Stay safe and move on unless you want to move up the Swift ladder and become a mentor.

  • @sideslide23 do yourself a favor and learn how to chain up and check the road conditions. Especially at night if you know it is going to be icy, then simply don't drive. If your load is late then it is late. Don't drive inclimate weather and beware fog. Even on a sunny day conditions can deteriorate and you can come up on an accident while being in the truck lane. As long as you are aware and alert and not in a rush you'll do fine. Good luck in your future endeavors.

  • @shaithis80 I only live 28 miles from the Swift corporation so I'm going to investigate today when I'm done with the swimming pool run.

  • @sideslide23 good luck.

  • Ya, I wad just poking ya in the ribs a bit havin fun. That's ok my company let's you become a trainer after 3-6 months!!! THAT SHIT JUST AIN'T RIGHT MAN! can you guess who my company is?

Every New Graduate Leaves Another New Dent! Lol

  • Soo, was this video taken before or after the FBI raids when their school got busted for giving licenses to unqualified and illegal alien students????????? Hmmmmm

  • @truckindawg1 After. It was the school in Memphis that got busted, because TN DOT allowed the school to administer both state driving exams. They were shut down for about 6 months until the state could staff it adequately. We got the overflow. :(

The San Antonio school took us to the TX DOT center, where we filled out official TX forms, took official TX tests on official TX computers, and about 5 members of my class washed out for having official TX warrants for their official TX arrest.

  • @tshewmake

coming from TX TX don't fuck around they handle DOT buisness the TX WAY lmao xD I hear Swift is THE LARGEST in the nation, i thought CR E was

  • I love being a trucker.

  • Seatbelt?

  • If I ever saw a trailer that said "SWIFT DRIVER TRAINING" I would get the fuck off the road quick!

  • @MIKEL0352 Agree because when I was driving the Semi with my instructer, I sliped the gear while I was waiting for the 2 cars to make a right turn and end up having to come to a compleate stop at the intersection to get into gear and missed the light and people behind me went nuts.

  • @sideslide23 that is try and avoid gaps in between trucking jobs as any prior experience might not be credited. That is the bullshit of the trucking industry that exhists today where one is not credited for time put in especially when it comes to dealing with major carriers and that sounds like a good way to keep drivers in hole. I've kept up my CDL and hazmat in the event I want to get back into it and as a backup option but I wouldn't be going with anymore OTR carriers if I can help it.

  • Anybody catch that "...a little gas too....." at 1:54....them taco's must of been deadly...whew!

  • Im a female driver and most of the male instructors are hounds.

  • Wow Thats Complicated.......

  • The reason that instructers scream and yell at you is to help force the point on how important it is, If someone yells at you 2 do something, down the road when your on you own you'll remember not to do it because he yelled at u. If your nicly told to do something chances are you will forget. Talk to the old school drivers they use to get hit in the hand with a rod if they screwed up a shift. But because of laws trucking schools can't do this, and eaton fuller, and alliston are making a killing

  • @ 1:18 "third gear might be a little tricky" HA HA! LMAO.

  • They hired you with that horrible tattoo on your neck and an earring?

  • @Chadzxx1 Any more put downs?

  • lMAO come drive for swift become a super trucker overnight lol !

  • not only did he not check both mirrors regularly when backing he didnt get out and look before he went back..maybe thats y most swift drivers back into things...

  • One mistake I notice that he did and others, they stay focused on the left mirror and left side, they should do period checks of the RH mirror make sure no obstacles, cars or people pop up.

  • swift is a fucking joke....

  • double clutching is for fags

  • this guys not actually teaching anything...he's just telling them to repeat exactly what he's done using fixed reference points...not explaining why he's doing any of those things...I guess that's why that Swift driver ran my truck over at the Flying J in Lodi...

  • their is worse companies to drive for like jb hunt the reason jb hunts name is on the back of the trailer is so the drivers know which end to back into.just kidding we are all after the same thing to make a living and get home safe

  • this trainer was probably just taking this class 2 weeks before he started teaching!!!

  • WTF IS A CLUTCH !!

  • haha dude ur dumb

  • To all student drivers or wantabe drivers DO YOUR HOMEWORK frist before you get into trucking is will help you to know what to expect as a newbie driver. Don't get on a trucking company website and believe everything they put....it all sounds good but its just selling point for you to accept their school or company. SO DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!

  • Swift is a really good company to drive for, you just have to make it work......and stop being a baby about it!!! New drivers.... Just do 1 year and its all good!!

  • dude, its not about being a baby. its about getting good training, and having mentors that want to train, the driver services staff is awsome though. i will tell u right now, im still with swift.

  • Comment removed

  • @13svincent good &paitence teachers and mentors is what it's all about, to be a good drivers ,i'm looking for a good school in nj. i live in madison,nj. where is a good school close to me!!

  • this mother fucker, is no longer a trainer, he got fired and sent back to the road, cause he is a fucking gay ass, and likes to talk shit to students, and move his hands all the time when he talks. swift school is bullshit, they dont teach u shit how to back up just strait back. trust me do not waste your time or money on these fuckers.

  • I think it is so funny when I see guyz like you who waste their time talking down about a trucking company, all trucking school are the same dude that is why you r called a student not a truck driver let, you have to do your time 1st.

  • once you show that you can handle being a truck driver then you will get the best of the best. It is what YOU make out of it buddy. So don't bit** just get it done... that is what its all about. One Love!!

  • Comment removed

  • swift sucks !!!!!!i see these suckers @ the nj pike doing 60 miles in a 65 zone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! jb junt also

  • you dumbass, there trucks are gov. u ever thought maybe thats why????

  • yeah i know their gov!!!! U BIG DEUCH BAG!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY ARE STILL IDIOTS

  • his is specialized in training tomatoe pickers!!

  • SWIFT= Swing Wide Its a Fucking Trailer...LOL

  • better them than me working at Swift.

  • you can take a person with a phd and put them in a truck and what do you get? instant idiot

  • Cept, the guy with the PHD will learn to truck in about 5 days... Where as taking the trucker and putting him in a PHD program = Failure...

    FUCKING DUMBASS

  • As a Trainer u have to have patience U have to start somewhere , Though But after the trainer releases the student The company really makes out they pay the student next to nothing . Then again they pay a heavy price though accidents but then they get a Government Subsudiary for every student that they train not to mention the student has to pay back the loan .

  • SWIFT=See What I F*cked up Today

  • A swift driver teaching someone how to drive? YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Why does he have to look at the gear lever to change gear.

  • because he's a SWIFT driver.

  • the worst thing an instructor can do is yell at someone for minor mistakes. All that does is make the student more nervous and then they mess up even more. I worked for werner and I went through 3 different trainers. 2 of the 3 trainers were yellers and it made me mess up more. I finally had enough of that and left werner. Now I'm thinking of going to Swift.

  • This guy was my road instructor! He bought us breakfast tacos every morning. He was a really good instructor. Made you feel relaxed so that you could learn easier. I know all the other instructors would sit there and scream in your ear if you were doing things wrong, but he wouldn't. I definatley learn better without people screaming in my ear.

  • thats is true about instructors!!! some of them or MOST need to have PATIENCE!!! they expect you to know how to drive a truck by the third day and YES they do yell at you!!! I 'm surprised they let some of them teach?? I felt sorry for this other student in the truck with me he was getting yelled at all the time !!! It would be like me teaching a trucking instructor how to play golf and by the third day you better be hitting it like Tiger Woods OR ELSE!!!!

  • sure makes a BIG DIFFERENCE when you have an instuctor with patience!!!! not many out there that do......surprised that some can get away with unorthodoxed teaching..what a shame...glad you had a GOOD instructor!!!!

  • i agree i plan im goin to truck driving school soon. i hope i get a instructor like urs man.

    wat company r u workin 4 now?

  • Comment removed

  • @etsschu john was a good instructor but not not all of them yell at you. mr thompson was a mellowcat and boy did he have pait to put up with me jr and teddy

  • Good god, this guy is unreal... Give me a frickin break

  • you think im wrong? i have two and a half million accident free miles. i've driven a truck in reverse further than most , and thats nine and a half years hauling cattle.with not a single head lost. not many can say that

  • I've always wanted to ask this. How did you clean out your cattle hauler? And congrats on your 2 million+ accident free miles.

  • thanks.well to wash em out ,the trailers have "traps" which are 4 "8in x8in " gated holes in the corners of the bottom deck.if u stay on top of it ,"rinse out " after every load its not too bad. but i have shoveled them out before. that takes about 8 hours. did u know cattle wont load behind pigs and vice versa, they dont like each others crap on their feet

  • automatic transmissions, and empty trailers, that is not how u train truck drivers! hands on training and real life situations is the only way.

  • Automatics SUCK!!! 18 spd manual trans all the way.

  • they dont know what are the sacrifices of filipino trucker in middle east, im the one transporting the needs of US forces in iraq to kuwait last 2006, some filipino trucker were killed, now if you are better why you dont serve your own country in middle east.

  • because they don't hire in the U.S. for those overseas trucking jobs. wish they did, I'd have done it.

  • If I choise the company paid cdl, i must work for swift for 26 months? Or I can quit any time?

  • I trained through the Sparks, NV Swft terminal back in 2002 before the driving academy thing took hold. I used Desert Truck Driving School in Sparks, NV and I paid for my CDL training up front which came out to $1,250 vs. financing. Swift paid for my hotel room and I had a room all to myself. You don't want to commit to Swift or any company for two years and CDL training shouldn't cost you $3,000 and the driving simulator is the stupid. Day 1 I was put in a real truck on a dirt course.

  • fuick you asshole! i am better than you!

  • Don't listen to in-breeders, young man. They only know how to hate.

  • im 25 years old filipino trucker i want to work there in swift please tell me what are the qualifications, i work here in our country and in saudi arabia as trucker i handled isuzu 420, mb 1735, mb actros and a volvo f12 w/ 40ft. flatbed trailer and 36ft. tanker. thank you.

  • stay home u mud mother fucker we dont want u here

  • why are you think you are better? I'm from Hungary. And? Do you know what wide load or long load means? Two weeks ago I transported a tube. 35meter/115feet long. Thank you. But if I go to the US I must begin from the novice level. Respect

  • well...the industrys crying for drivers..and byy the sound of the trucks you driven..you'd do fine over here.

  • SWIFT....See What I F'd Today

  • and 3months later we will finally let you drive on the real roads. oh by the way don't forget to clutch clutch clutch clutch clutch clutch clutch clutch clutch clutch clutch before you put it in first gear.

  • Swift the butt of all jokes??? so fucking what we have to start somewhere...this isn't like it was twenty years ago where you DONT need experience and grandfathered in, give us a fucking break!! we are doing a job here. nothing wrong with Swift at all it is a good starting point.

  • good starting point, but no need to pay for overpriced training or sign a two year contract. 6 months and move on.

  • I completely agree with you, you gotta get experience somewhere! Everyone wants you to have 6 months, or more to be able to drive for them unless you go through Swift, Prime, pumpkin, etc... I actually did get grand fathered in though. My uncle owns a farm and I have hauled his grain for years. I was grand fathered in about 3 years ago so the laws could have changed by now. Good luck with everything!

  • Hit the road Jack !!!!!!!!

  • SWIFT= sure wished I finished training.SWIFT is like the butt of all trucker jokes.Find another company to drive for.You never gonna be home.

  • ok john let me get my fucking laptop so i can take notes on all the instructions youre giving me. Jesus he's making a big thing out of driving a truck eh? I was definately thought differant way. lol

  • I'm getting my start at Swift.I'm driving to Phoenix to train this week.I applied to big carriers Knight,England ect.,Swift took me.They offered me a Greyhound paid ticket but I'm just going to take my 2001 Tahoe and they will pay my fuel.

  • If you have a lot of local driving experience, do you still have to compete with new driver rates with otr carriers?

  • what a fucking joke,,,that bus will be nice than the fuckin truck u will get issued

  • swift drivers has to clutch clutch thier brains...till they leave swift

  • looks like his seatbelt is only around his arm, great trainer lol

  • I want you to know that I literally laughed out loud when I heard this. I've worked on computers most all my working life, and I daydream all day about driving a truck listening to the radio fucking loud!...take care brother...

  • this guy sux, who uses the clutch?

  • guys who care about there trucks use the clutch there super trucker

  • This is just what i was looking for .. except that in the USA the steering wheel is on the LEFT hand side of the vehicle.

I would learn with this guy too. He definitely knows what he is doing, he has the initiative to put this up on the web, and even ironed his shirt with a knife-edge crease.

Backing a longhaul truck around a corner into a finger dock is murder.

  • this looks like the kind of instructor i would like to have! seems patient.friendly.

  • LOL! That is fucking hilarious!

  • I wanna be a truck driver when Ime older, whats truck driving really liek Ive played simulators of truck driving and found them awsome and love trucks, is truck drivign a good job?

  • not bad i suppose..dependeds on what your willing to put up with. PM me if you want more info

  • hey im looking into the industry and want more info on which company to start out with?

is it true bout them big companies?like are they that bad or they making it bad?

    thanx for reading

  • nowadays the big general freight companies just want to have enough trucks on the road to cover the loads which means an overabundance of trucks means less pay. You don't want to commit to any starter company for two years and the cost of a CDL should cost you no more than $1,000-$2,000 dollars. Problem is you are truly working for less and their are a number of ours which go unpaid in a 60-70 hour work week. On the up side, great way to see the country, just don't be a slave in the company.

  • wait a minute where have u seen CDL's costin 2 grand? and idk these big compaines who offer cdl training is better to get experece not full time and ahead job time i mean ill work for big companie to get experience then move on to other to get the high bucks.and as far as i know i dont think they pay by hour its the miles too.

  • some general freight companies that pay by the mile will short you on miles driven. It adds up over time so I'd investigate which company is right for you. I didn't finance my Swift training back in '02 and paid the going rate of $1,250 because I didn't want to be in debt and given that their trucks were governed at 60 mph, it was quite easy to do the math on not maxing out my pay daily being in a slow truck. I'll go into training schools with you in another post.

  • big company schools which overcharge in between $3,000-$4,000 for training and a CDL are in my view a rip off and I personally wouldn't go for the high priced training as it is normally not the best. the simpler and less sophisticated the school and the cheaper the better. What makes the difference is showing up everyday for training which should take no longer than 4-5 weeks. Company paid training and a 2 year contract can be a very big mistake and you will regret having committed for 2 yrs.

  • Swift is the only big company I ever drove for and you will not clear much OTR in general freight. Get minimal xp. with a company and then go into food transport/mail transport and smaller companies with established lanes where you know exactly how much you will be getting paid weekly. Good luck in getting your CDL unless you have one already and once you get that license, never ever give it up and keep in shape enough to pass your physicals every two years.

  • i slaved for swift and i made 16$ a week

  • Bullshit, you must be a really shit driver

  • nope im a damm good driver.i went over to star transport in morton ill.makeing 1100 a week. swift fuck their drivers with no bootyhole grease swift can suck my dick and yo wife can to

  • A. Im a 16 year old boy..... your cool ey

    B. You said in your last comment you said you made $16 a week, make up your mind !

  • hey man morton ill right in washington ill theres a guy who aspires to get his cdl named mongoosedriver1.

btw my friend wrks for star an makes gewd money.

  • lol, then why did you quit??

  • Thats how you do it, you gotta AIM the truck !

  • Avoid Swift, as well as Schneider, JB Hunt, Werner, USA truck, US Express, Covenant, Roehl, Knight, Maverick, Prime, Crete. Basically ANy trucking company with over 1000 trucks is out for themselves, the hell if it means screwing the driver

So I graduated from trucking school which company am i going to start my career with?

  • i also don't believe in driving for a company that has more then 1000 trucks and a company that puts on retarded speed governors. I worked for one and hated every fucking second. good luck to everybody else that can stand it. NOT ME!!!

  • Go to a private truck driving school and Save your money. You will be trained better and not married to Swift for a year. Their is a reason that Swift terminals in Tennessee were investigated by the Government this spring. their students KILL PEOPLE. Avoid Swift, as well as Schneider, JB Hunt, Werner, USA truck, US Express, Covenant, Roehl, Knight, Maverick, Prime, Crete. Basically ANy trucking company with over 1000 trucks is out for themselves, the hell if it means screwing the driver!

  • Swift is one of the worst companies to drive for, 2nd only to Werner. At orientations the trainers brainwash people into thinking that Swift is a good company. Their training is subpar, and most of their drivers (along with most from other large comapnies) act like idiots at truck stops, aside from not being able to drive. I'm referring to blocking fuel pumps while going shopping or odering fast food. Save your money and avoid swift. Bigger is almost NEVER means better as far as trucking goes.

  • If they're training is subpar, maybe you can improve on that after you hit the road, I would think you could bring your driving up past subpar after half a million miles, smartguy

  • Been on the road since 2003, 616,000 paid miles. You're not fooling anyone. Quit trying to defend Swift

  • I'm looking forward to driving for swift, cause i love to drive and all that i do have a question for the drivers do yall come home night or do yall keep going answer this question for me somebody either way itd gonna be all good!!!

  • where do you live at 1# 2# swifts not bad like people say i have work 4 them 3months ago but i moved back 2 nyc to work 4 nyctranist so i lived in phoenix az i loved driving the west cost better thin the east cost cause of the big bad mountains lamo good luck

  • its not that easy ta drive those rigs most truck driving schools suck they just want your money they don't care if you learn how to drive or not

  • just so y'all know, swift has a scam goin with their driver training

  • yeah, if you can't pass a background check or a piss test, they charge you for the classroom time you have used, after the first three days grace period. which one did you fail?

Colleges do this too if you drop out, btw. Seems everyone wants to be paid for services rendered. Damn scammers.

  • well, i didnt go, but my friend did. He was there for five days and they said he had a problem with his license, since his residency had to be moved to kentucky. He left, got it straightened out, it was swifts fault by the way, went back to the institute, and they said he had to start over again. He came home and found an article on the internet of tons of stories like his. Its pretty serious shit.

  • Someoneknows28 you are an idiot. He is a great truck driver.

  • tshewmake, thanks for putting that video up. It lets me know how training is.

  • that was the intent :) glad I could help.

  • and since my dad has been driving for almost 4 decades, i have a big advantage over the other guys because once i'm out on my own and i get into a tough situation that i'm not sure about, all i need to do is pick up the phone and get the help i need. how many other rookies can do that?

  • how about common sense. The difference between a good driver and a rookie is that a good driver knows when to stop when something is wrong. NOt keep going like some. I'm 22 and have had my class a for almost 2 years. My experience was military. Common sense will avoid almost 100% of incidents.

  • I CAN my grandfather has been driving since he was 16
