  • How do you remove and replace the pinion gear on the motor? I recently purchased a torque tuned motor, but I can't figure out how to remove the pinion from the old motor to place it on the tamiya (if it's even salvageable).

Also, how do you place a new pinion gear? Glue?

  • @808jspekeg6 So? You got the answer yet? Make a tutorial! There are more people that want to know PLEASE! Thank you! Mail me man! Or ANYBODY!!! HOW DO YOU DO IT !

  • My Takara Tomy drift car with torque tuned... goes... small accel, lose power and small accell until it goes fully fast :S and I can't deep angle with torque tuned. WHY???????????

  • Ate these the stock mini z tires?

  • wow it's kind of surprising to know that I'm not the only one in his twenties who is obsessed with these tiny cars that are usually considered as toys by others...haha!getting a new motor tmr, maybe I'll try atomic tuned and post my results later:)

  • @xyfeast

trust me, you'r not the only one at all xD. People just dont get the feeling coz they never tried tuning performance in whatever drifting. If you're that curious about the cars, tell me about it so we share info :) I do counter-steer on mine all the time :D

  • HIIIII!!!!!!!!! Is the Torque tuned engine as far as one can go?? None higher rpm? I need to countersteer as much as i can from one curb to another, and high drift distances also!

Faved vid! Keep it up :D

  • did u change the turning hability also? :3

  • rccarlabs can you actually buy the main motor (the ones with the big gear but not the ones for the steering) please private message me

  • oops i meant R35. i messed up. and one more thing, which is the best motor here : Hyper dash 1/2 , ultra dash , power dash or torque tuned ???

  • got two question

where do u get the new motor and how does it cost

is this car easy to assemble

    ty

  • what is the best motor for this drift car ? i have a white nissan GTR (R32) . I can't make up my mind.

  • @TheDrifter360

You're like me!!! Anyway, have you gotten an answer so far????

I need SO MUCH a great engine to drift Takara Tomy... I'm 20, and I'm still so into this little RC drift :O Drifting... is just... AMAZING

    PLZ ANSWER SOON X'D

  • @Kry0nz no , but i asked my friends who play with it. So far torque tuned is the best in power and battery consuming. Hyper Dash is too powerful and uses too much battery and while accerating it will keep jerking for 3-4 seconds then it move hell quick.

  • @TheDrifter360

What about Atomic Tuned motor?? It has a little more rpm:

    15700 for 1300 MA battery

Torque tuned yea seems good but:

    13600 for 1200MA bat.

+2100 rpm Should be both okay and cool right? I WISH MORE PEOPLE WOULD SHARE MODED TAKARA TOMY VIDS :O

  • @Kry0nz you have to look at how much ur DPL model can handle. you can try and try using energizer advanced batteries.

  • I'll install PLASMA DASH 2, It so COOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!

  • I got mine from think geek, its cost more than anywhere else but I trust it. My friend got his from some sketchy store online and it has an electrical problem. after turning or letting off the accelerator it sends and second signal and goes for a split second or turns again making it damn near impossible to drive. Mine works like a charm.

  • Where do you buy these from? I found some on ThinkGeek but nowhere else. How much for a high torque motor, and what is the motor?

  • plasma dash sucks, jet dash is better, damnn nice car. wanna get one like that.

  • Comment removed

  • I went ahead and bought the torque-tuned and the plasma dash. the torque-tuned is fantastic, I recomend it for everyone who has one of these cars. It does eat the batteries faster but the handling is realist. The car however did not have enought power to run the plasma dash : (

  • i think you put too much torque on it

  • The plasma dash is anywhere from 25 to 31 thousand rpm. check out the motorking, it has 650,000 rpm, rediculous. Does anyone know where you can get these 1/32 scale bodies because i'm looking to change it up.

  • yes but the motor king will tear the gears in that thing to shreds and the only place i saw those were on ebay

  • Lets Try Plasma Dash Next Time (Google It)

  • i really dont like his body shell thing i think it looks bad xD

  • WHERE DO YOU BUY THIS MOTOR! OMG TELL ME! xD

i would love this for my Tomy AE86 Levin. i've been a little bummed out that i couldn't pull those long drifts the bigger RCs can. but by the looks of this, i just need a motor with more punch xD

where do you think i can get a motor like that?

  • What other bodys from tomy fit the light package i have the Greedy rx7 and would like another body to go with it

    thanks

  • What batteries are you guys using? and how long will it last?

  • I'd also like to know.. after I installed the torque tuned my battery life seems to not run past 20-30mins if i'm lucky

  • just got my torque tuned motor and installed it in the rear. the speed is a bit slower but the drift is more pronounced. has anyone used the rev tuned motor?

  • how did you install it? isn't the Tamiya Torque Tuned motor a dual shaft?

i'm looking into how i can install this in my own Takara Tomy Levin86.

i'm not exactly familiar with mini Tamiya products. i didn't even know they had a 4WD series (maybe i'll add another RC to my collection xD) but what's the difference b/t the rev tuned and the torque tuned? top speed vs acceleration?

  • most tamiya motors come in both single and dual shaft. You just need to scrounge around on ebay as afaik thats the only place which consistently has them.

Rev tuned: a lot of power, but bull acceleration so not good for response.

Torque tune: steady flow of power accelerating , and doesn't flatten your batteries as fast, but methinks the speed is slower (comparing a torque tune with a hyper dash 2)

  • rccarlabs, what other gears can be modify? rims? ....

  • not special in spite of the motor for drivin'. We can just fun to drift!

  • I am waiting for my RX-7 to arrive, and I am gonna order a Torque tuned motor as well!!

anyway know what's the different between the torque and the original one?

Austexjg, I believe it's the one gear motor!

  • The torque when throttle is on is quitely different. Torque tuned motor is better choice for experts.

  • @rccarlabs

Even comparing to hyper dash 2 or other more powerful Engines?

Or would they burn Takara Tomy or the engine itself???

I need help, I wish to receive a new engine! :O Sorry but I can't find answers anywhere :(

  • I cant drift well with it, whats the technique? can anyone teach me?

and can it use other tire for normal drive?

    mine is realistic rx7...

  • Approach a corner in high speed, then steer to the left or right. In order to clear the corner, quickly set back the steering in center position, and control throttle by pumping acceleration switch ON and OFF. Counter steering should be suppresed in minimum amount at the onset.

The drift tyres for Kyosyo MINI-Z AWD series can be used as well, but I don't recommend it for the beginner. It is easier for original tyres to drift because they have adequate angle belong to width direction.

  • Awesome, i will try it.

But my drift package suffer a big problem., the shaft which connect the front and back wheels got a ugly sound and it cant run smooth.. i try 2 assemble it over again but it still cant... donno what i gonna do...

  • what motor do these cars use a normal one or a special kinda one

  • I used TAMIYA torque-tuned motor for driving. It is widely sold for TAMIYA mini-4WD, so easy to get and very cheap.

  • Do you guiz feel the problem with the RC unit? I cannot control well with sort of 'stuck' with drifting off the corner, then the steering was uncontrolable with some sort of 'shocking' and 'shaking'. Isit the battery problem or just the setting of the Motor as i use the Atomic-Tuned High RPM motor?

  • Atomic-tuned motor needs more electrical current than torque-tuned motor, especially when switching OFF to ON, which is frequently occured situation in drifting. It may be due to the limitation of electrical circuit capacity.

  • I will Buy one torque-tuend motor to replace my current motor... at first, i decide to choose Atomic-tuend motor. seens the control unit support the high RPM motor, I change my mind.... Thanks for the information anyway.

  • Yeah, Atomic-tuned motor has slower intial motion than torque-tuned motor. For drifting in the room, torque-tuned motor is better choice, IMHO.

  • hhmm i'll check out this motor.

although getting replacement drift tires is my worry. i have an xmod evo that i've drift tuned and it's got...well i forget the name of the plastic but it's just a type of tubing that i've cut, boiled, and wrapped around the tires and they work great. thing is...transparent tires doesn't really make it seem realistic does it? xD

so what other drift tires fit this thing?

  • whats the song of the background music? i like it and ur video too. btw is there any tires for us to replace when it runs out?

  • EBTG Corcovado. Some drift tyres for mini-z AWD series are fittted. I tried Kyosyo drift tyres, and it feels rather nice for front tyres. Original tyres have taper angles, which means the diameter of the tyres is different between inside and outside, so that we easily fun to drift.

  • I been wondering if mini-z bodies would fit? anyone?

  • Maybe possible, but modification for holding is needed. Some mini-z users have tried to install Aero-RC bodies on mini-z.

  • can u put mini-z tyres on these?

  • Possible. I tried mini-z drift tyres on front tyres. IMO, original ones are better for rear tyres in terms of traction.

  • imo?

  • in my opinion, for short

  • r these rc cars any good or would it be better 2 get a really good 1 like 1:10 sized 1?

  • Well first off the are way cheaper and its pretty much for just tearing around the house. They are fun though and well built

  • i got 1 today it is fun got da AE86 toyota, kills bats fast thou, so i got rechargeable bats.

  • Same here i bought 2 sets so i dont have to worry about play time. I still want to know what bodies fit? I got my tomitech subaru wrx on mine right now but wonering if the mini-z bodies work? they are way more detailed

  • i like the background music~and your r/c skill are so cool~

  • why is the antena so huge?

  • It is due to wavelength of 27MHz band radio wave.

  • You can use any tamiya dash motor they are the same size. I have two tomitech cars and i read you can use the bodies from them with the supplied clips so the fit. I have a better motor im going to try and put my subaru wrx body on it

  • Yeah, I have also hyper-dash2, rev-tuned, atomic-tuned, sprint-dash, plazma-dash, mach-dash, hyper-baku-tuned, and hyper-baku-torque 130 sized motors. Drift Package Light is one of the Tomitech Aero RC series, but its electrical circuit is not same as original one. Moreover, what is required for driftin' is the highly balanced performance among motor-power, grip of tyres, and road surface condition. My conclusion is the torque-tuned motor.

  • So how does that work, did you have to put two torque tuned motors in or is it like the tomitech cars where they use one motor for steering?

  • "Normal motor for steering, Torque-tuned motor for driving" is my setting. Drift Package Light is more powerful than original Aero RC because it is powered by AAA 3cells compared to that the original AeroRC is powered by AA 2cells.

  • Sweet, drifts!! Where did you get that motor? Also, where can I get additional bodies?

  • It is easy to get the motor, which is for TAMIYA MINI4WD. Various bodies were sold as $10 TOMITECH Aero RC series a few years ago.

  • Just got mine today and having fun with it!!Anyway, i seen other people on youtube that added lights to there cars. Is there a light kit out that you know of? sorry to be bugging you for answers but i must know everything about these cool toys! thanks

  • No kit, but it is not difficult. I guess those works are DIY schemes. Buy some 5V-driven LEDs and contact them to +/- ternminals inside the chassis since Drift Package Light employs 3 AA batteries in series which means output voltage is almost 5V. Some resistance elements may be necessary to adjust amount of current. Moreover some kinds of body modification, decoting paint or making hole by drill, may be needed to install in the body. These are DIY schemes R/C lovers often get hooked on.

  • Thanks alot for the tips! I will definetly check them out
