"Born This Way" is the exact same song "Express Yourself". Same structure. Same melody, Same chord progression. Even the vocal melodic line is way obviously too similar. The difference is that Gaga accelerated "Express Yourself" about 5/10%, added a few more electronic noises from her heyboard, wrote another lyric about empowering something (Madonna empowered women with this, Gaga wanted to be more pleaser and empowered LGBT with her song). And voilá: that's how she created "Born This Way".
As much as I love Madonna, I seriously doubt that GaGa consciously imitated 'Express Yourself" when writing BTW. She's far too intelligent of an artist to pull a stunt like that.

Are you crazy?!! This song is the base of Born this way in all! The lyrics, the sound or the beat and voice and all. I don't get why all Lady Gaga's fans get so angry when people say it! Is not bad to be a follower of Madonna in everything. Gaga has co-written every song except two - one having bad reviews(speechless). Madonna has written half of her first album by herself. Madonna sings live almost all the time, and she sounds amazing while singing and dancing like in this performance. Gaga sounds like a dying animal when singing and dancing, however, she sounds amazing when not moving.
