Hmmm does anyone have any vids to the first game? Or if there was any form of releases of it in the USA? Been a fan of Growlanser 2 and 3 and have been wanting to fill in the big gap of the storyline by finding out more about 1.
Anyone have the time to help me out here? Been dying to know more about the story line gap between 3 and 2 so badly these pass few years. :(
@swordmasterghost 5 takes place with Seldous and that other...I always forget his name. The war broke out with two kingdoms and of course a small village. But that wasn't all they dealt with, they also had to deal with Screapers and the PMB were experimenting with humans and Screapers to make a super human that can destroy Screapers. 6 well you got me on that one....
@somedamnfangirl I am watching anime for 10 years now and I still think he has an unique style ! I wish Satoshi would focus more on anime productions than on single illustrations =)
@Zappacho I feel the same way about Keiji Goto, although he's not an illustrator like Satoshi. Goto's last credit was "Key Animation" on Afro Samurai: Ressurection in 2009 :(
Nice. Carmaine rocks. I know his name mostly cause i've played 2. Despite What ppl say the Growlanser games are linked even if not all of them. This game is linked with 2 and 3 storyline wise. In Story order it goes' 3,1,2. The Main character in 3 is the first Growlanser/Savior Of Light mentioned in 2 and then Carmaine's Story of 1 takes place before and during Wein's Time in the Academy in 2.
Heritage of War seems to be way out of the time line though, either extreme past, or extreme future? (I'm only bringing up future because of the weapons that were laying around)
I just hope they change the style back to the same as the first three for the next game, HoW was a bit...well, the change was really kind of awkward. For me RPG games will always be substance over style: Thats why I loved Generations and games like Breath of Fire 3.
It's unlikely that HoW is in the same "timeline" with any of the first 4 games, considering how VI pretty much explained the entire plot.
I think they have done a good job the way it is now and I don't see how changing back to the old style is gonna make the series any better. They used quite some ideas from this game in IV(after getting not-so-good responses from the Japanese gamers for II and III), but anyone who has played IV know that it's not a big wow.
So this is quality of animation Atlus had back in the Playstation era and these days we crap? Seriously Atlus WTF?

I need to figure out how I can play this game! lol
Oh, and people were talking about time lines, well, I know 2 is a year after 1 and 3 is before both of them. But all in the same "world".
Dunno about GL4+, I haven't played those either =/
I am a bad growlanser fan lol, and I love 2 and 3 so much<3

@somedamnfangirl Didn't Keiji Goto draw Nadesico as well ? He draws very round eyes in my opinion.

@Zappacho He did! I always thought his art style was the bomb.
