This pilot program is using homeless people to make them. In general though, there just aren't enough jobs in the united states for the 15-30 million unemployed people. Those jobs are now in china.
@Prepare2Survive Don't forget the US prison system. 75% of all exported furniture is made by slave labor inside the US prison system. 100% of the profit from that goes to the owners of the prisons, not toward the prisoners upkeep. The US government pays for that out of our tax dollars. In fact all of the Chinese Imports are being made by slave labor as well. As the slave labor force grows there will eventually be no more use for paid laborers.
Inspired by this video I am thinking about making another with the wool on the inside then a space blanket, then a waterproof shell. Might be the next generation of wool smocks.
Interesting concept. I'm going to look at there site for more info. Here's another idea. I wonder how much it would cost to manufacture tyvek tents to go with that. Or an umbrella that turns into a tent.
I've seen some videos on youtube where people use tyvek to make a tent, but I've never seen an umbrella. More than likely this design could easily be used in a lean-to type shelter configuration without any modifications.
The youtube channel djbarryiii has a lot of ultralight gear and clothing that he's made from that tyvek material. I just thought the idea of using it as a shell to a wool blanket / coat / sleeping bag was cool. It'll help block wind and rain from going through the wool and it's still safe around the camp fire. The coat design is probably similar to a capote design. I hope you have a good weekend too Sepp.
is this what our 'ingenuity' and 'innovation' has become????
Other nations are building solid middle-classes and well educated youth and we are focusing in homeless technology???
USA has become a poor and broke country !!!

Good point

I think many of the comments are only focusing on the homeless. This principle/ invention has many other uses in many other sectors.

Exactly Sean, I'm glad you see that too. By the way I think you did a great job on your wool blanket shirt.

@hobbexp
sleeping bags aren't multipurpose, waterproof or cheap.

Looks like the design was after a old woodsman capote but with a tyvek shell & lining. I've worn a capote before and it was insanely warm.

@hallard069
Yes, it looks like an extra long capote with the end doubled over and folded in as a retention to keep the extra length from dragging on the ground.

Great invention fur survival and military purposes, won't give a home to the homeless though.

Yes, it's a great multipurpose idea that many people could use in an emergency.

Thanks for showing, a very good and helpful development.
From another perspective also a good idea as design for of Bushcraft and Survival clothing... or as an emergency equipment. Have a good weekend Sepp

Get those poor people a home over their head!
It is shamefull disturbing that stuff like this is needed in a rich society

America isn't rich. It's the most in debt country in the history of the world.
