The scientific consensus is that global warming is real and that we, through increasing the CO2 in the atmosphere are playing a role. There are certainly profiteers and there are certainly a bunch of soft-headed, new age environmentalists. We all should scorn the former and ignore the later. Al Gore is not setting a good example, and for that, he deserves criticism. The scientific consensus is still the best guide.

@badlegend1 Honestly, I don't know if there is a set speed that the Earth's climate should change, but if you search for "temperature records", you can see that the steady ups and downs of temperature of the past are in pretty strong contrast to the rapid increase since the industrial revolution. Earthquakes cannot be predicted very far ahead of time because we're not very good at predicting the movement of the tectonic plates, but we can predict weather patterns, like hurricanes and cyclones.

@badlegend1 It just frustrates me that people buy into the Climate Change denial, when it's been shown many times that the denial theories have been funded by the massive oil corporations, and it's a shame that people who are correct normally be led so astray by the people they're actually claiming is the enemy. Don't believe that particulates can cool things down? Run another experiment on particulates to see if temperatures drop.
